Today I’m sharing my favourite new beauty launches of 2024 so far, whether they’re new brands, new products or just new to the UK. Let’s dive in…

I’m going to start with skincare and the Ordinary, because their launches have been killing it this year (and they’ve actually been having a bit of a renaissance for the past two years, in my opinion…). I have the Ordinary’s Retinal 0.2% Emulsion* | £15.20 | full review and the Ordinary’s Saccharomyces Ferment 30% Milky Toner* | £12.40 | full review | as my top picks this year. The retinal is definitely not a beginner-friendly formula, but for those looking to take their skincare routine to the next level without going up to a prescription-strength retinoid. Retinoids are the gold standard in well-ageing (aside from sunscreen, I guess!) and can smooth out fine lines, boost collagen production and improve the skin's tone and texture. Retinal is the step below a prescription-strength retinoid and offers a really great balance of maximum results with minimal irritation. This is a brilliant price for such an effective retinoid! The toner is also right up my street; I love a hydrating milky formula and this product fits the bill. This is formulated with a hyped K-beauty ingredient called Saccharomyces ferment, which is moisturising and soothing for the skin. This toner is also intended to have mild exfoliation benefits, but for me it's more of an overall formula for smooth, glowing, radiant skin. I'm loving both of these new launches from the Ordinary this year!

I also have a couple of new sunscreen launches that have made my 'best of' shortlist. The first is the Alpha-H Dusk to Dawn Serum SPF 50+* | £36.99 | full review | demo | which is a wonderful example of a next-generation, ultra-elegant sunscreen. It is more of a high-end option, but if you're struggling to find a sunscreen that's light enough for every single day and works effortlessly under makeup; this is wonderful. It's a serum-lotion that melts right into the skin, doesn't pill and provides a high level of protection. I also have to shout out the Garnier Vitamin C Glow Daily UV Fluid SPF 50+ | £12.99 | full review | demo | which I don't think will be for everyone, though it's right up my street. This is a tinted tan-toned luminous sunscreen that basically works like a makeup primer for me. Think Becca's Backlight Priming Filter with more of a bronze tone and maximum SPF protection! My makeup glides right over this and it gives it such a wonderful fresh glow.

For my final skincare pick, we have the Byoma Barrier+ Treatment* | £16.99 | full review. This is a budget hero for me; it's an amazing barrier support product but it has a surprisingly light texture, so if you want these ingredients without a rich texture then this is perfect. It's formulated with ceramides, fatty acids and cholesterol, replenishing squalane, ectoin (a calming ingredient I rarely see in products that aren't high-end) and fatty-rich avocado oil. It's perfect for a compromised barrier, or even just to use as buffering step alongside your favourite strong actives.

Ok, let's move on to makeup, I have one complexion product that's really wowed me this year and that's the Refy Concealer (Shade 12) | £22 | full review | demo. I haven't really seen many reviews of this online but I've not used anything else since I got it (or put down the concealer and powder bronzer dual-ended brush launched alongside it). This is a liquid concealer but it's not heavy or super high-coverage; it's medium coverage, hydrating and blends effortlessly. At the same time - set with a little powder - I don't find it creases and the overall longevity is great. It's brightening in the most natural way and gives me enough coverage without it seeming like I have a load of makeup under my eyes in comparison to the tinted moisturiser applied on the rest of my face!

And - to round things out - we have two colour products: the Huda Beauty Blush Filter Liquid Blush in Watermelon Pop* | £24 | mini review & demo | and the Clinique Pop Lip & Cheek Oil in Black Honey | £23.50 | reviewdemo. This liquid blush is an amazing wearable way of doing a bold colour. It blends so nicely and offers a builable flush of colour that can be customised to be as vibrant as you want it to be. And it's incredibly long-wearing for these hot summer days! Watermelon Pop is a true warm watermelon tone that I love for this time of year on my skin tone. Finally, I have to shout out the lip oil version of Black Honey. This is a classic shade that Clinique have had on the market for many years now; a kind of plum tone that seems to suit just about any skin tone. This year they launched a lip oil version and it's glossy, sheer-stain, moisturising perfection! I think I love it even more than the original...

Have you tried any of these launches? What have been your top picks of the year so far?
