I’ve felt as though I wanted to update you guys on
what makeup I’m enjoying at the moment in a more informal way for a while -
focusing on the highlights - so I’ve decided to retire my monthly makeup
roundup and just do these posts as an when I feel like it. I’m away quite a bit
at the moment but this has been the makeup I’ve been reaching for when I’ve
been at home over the last few weeks.
To prep my skin for makeup, I’ve been loving the Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer | £27 | full review. It’s a gel-based primer packed with
amazing skincare ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid. It definitely helps my skin
look less dehydrated and dry, however also helps with the longevity of my
makeup, so my base is less likely to disappear in my problem areas. It’s just a
great all-rounder if your skin needs an extra bit of a boost and you want your
makeup to stay looking fresh that bit longer.
My everyday base routine really hasn’t changed much
for months! I've been using the IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream
(Medium Tan) | £31 | full review | followed by the Milk Makeup Flex Concealer
(Medium) | £23.75 | full review. The CC Cream is another great makeup product that has
added skincare benefits (such as containing SPF50) and I just love how healthy
it makes my complexion look - I’ve been wearing it every day to work since I
got it. You can definitely customise the appearance of this one - I personally
use one pump for light-medium coverage that looks like skin. It also lasts
really nicely and doesn’t get greasy on my skin. The Milk Concealer is another
product that I haven’t put away once since I picked it up. It’s just the
perfect level of coverage for me - it doesn’t look heavy or cakey but hides
dark circles, correcting and brightening the eyes with its lighter, slightly
peachy tone. I find this wears really well on me and I don’t have issues with
creasing.
Moving onto colour products - lately I’ve been reaching for my ColourPop Double Entendre Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette | $16 | full review | so much - I’d forgotten what a good one it is! I really love this formula and honestly can’t fault a single shade in this palette - the mattes do kick up a bit of dust in the pan but they’re so smooth, pigmented and easy to blend out that I really don’t mind! The shimmers have this dewy, metallised, foiled effect and are so opaque, with amazing impact once applied. This is exactly my sort of colour story too - it has everything you need for a slightly smokier take on warm nudes.
In terms of what I’m wearing on my cheeks; I have two
old favourites and one new discovery that I’m already a big fan of! I’ve found
myself reaching for my Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder in Sunset Glow* | £13 | full review. I just really like this formula; it’s so sheeny and soft-focus
but still gives my skin a gorgeous glow. This is an unusual warm amber-bronze
tone. I also still love my Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze* | £10 | full review. I’m sure regular readers are sick of hearing about this product,
however it’s just perfect if you like warm golds, oranges and reds in your makeup
looks. It’s a sheeny, radiant bronze-gold colour that just adds a natural flush
to the cheeks, blends out evenly and stays looking good all day. My new
discovery has been the Fenty Beauty Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer in Bajan Gyal | £23 | full review. It just has the smoothest, creamiest formula, so is
really quick and easy to apply, adding natural warmth and dimension to my face.
I’ve not come across a totally matte formula before that blends as nicely as
this!
On my lips I’ve been wearing the Urban Decay Vice Comfort Matte Lipstick in Carnal | £17.50. I love how opaque and matte this is, whilst being incredibly comfortable to wear and long-lasting. This colour is a really nice warm clay-brown nude that I love and have used to death!
Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to my Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £8.99 | full review. It's been my absolute favourite mascara for years, and with good reason! It gives amazing length and curl to my lashes, doesn't flake or smudge and gives a nice bit of clump-free volume. I personally love it!
