Today, as we head into cosy season, I’m sharing a few of my beauty favourites to use on cosy nights in…
Next, let’s talk about body care. At this time of year, I'm all about the nourishing and luxurious-feeling oil-based body care products. The L'Occitane Hydrating Almond Shower Oil* | £20.50 | smells incredible with its sweet and nutty aroma and it offers an ultra-gentle, seriously moisturising body cleanse. It doesn't foam up but it emulsifies with water to wash off the skin, but it still leaves behind a bit of moisture to ensure the skin stays soft and plump with grape seed and sweet almond oils. After a cosy bath, I like to slather on something to lock in the hydration, like the Naturium Glow Getter Body Oil* | £26.50 | full review. This body oil also smells so good (for a bit of fragranced oil layering!) and contains amazing skincare ingredients to provide instant and lasting moisture to the skin, such as squalane, jojoba oil, safflower seed oil and rosehip oil. It's non-greasy and doesn't leave an excess sat on the skin but will ensure things stay happy and nourished for hours.
Let's talk skincare; at the end of the day, of course we're double cleansing! When I'm treating my skin, I like to start with the Alpha-H Melting Moment Cleansing Balm with Australian Flannel Flower* | £39.99 | full review. This feels like such an indulgence; it melts beautifully with the warmth of your skin as you massage it onto your makeup and sunscreen to melt it all down. With water, it transforms into a milk which I then remove with a damp face cloth. It also has a light herby aroma and obviously the green is beautiful! After that, I cleanse the skin underneath with the Sachi Skin Saponins Cream Cleanser* | £42 | full review. This is a luxurious and nourishing, non-foaming creamy cleanser that's perfect for dry skin in winter; it leaves things feeling refreshed but never stripped or lacking in moisture thanks to plant oils, butters and water-attracting humectants. Then I lock in an extra layer of hydration before applying whatever treatment I'm using for the night, with the Laneige Cream Skin CeraPeptide Toner & Moisturiser* | £29.50 | full review. This is a hydrating milky toner with skin-repairing peptides and ceramides, to help boost skin barrier function (cold weather skin definitely needs more ceramides).
After using my serum or treatment, it has to be Kate Somerville's DeliKate Recovery Cream* | £69 | full review. I crack open and empty a tub of this stuff every single autumn / winter, and truly; no ceramide cream has ever topped this one for me! It's formulated with ceramides, cholesterol, peptides, ectoin and shea butter, which are going to help nourish your skin, improve barrier function (which can become more easily impaired when the weather is harsh and cold) and aid in skin repair and overall health. The central heating is really taking it out of my skin at the moment; I just hate being cold! So, around this time of year, facial oils become an everyday thing for me and I personally love the feel of the Bondi Sands Wonder Potion All-in-One Hero Oil* | £9.99 | full review. This is a silky oil which is actually also formulated with water-based humectant for hydration. The oils in here are wonderful, especially for the price-point.
Finally, we have lip and hand hydrators. I use the Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm | £23 | full review | every single night, but it's especially great for keeping the lips hydrated and nourished during the colder months when they're more prone to dry patches and cracking. This honestly makes it so that my lips never need exfoliation and never crack with its cocktail of plant oils and butters. For my dryness-prone hands, I use the Huxley Moroccan Gardener Hand Cream | discontinued. I'm so sad this seems to have been discontinued (I used to get it from Tonic 15) since this is my last backup! It's nourishing, ensures I wake up with soft hands and it smells unbelievable from a sensory perspective. It's herby, floral and aromatic, as well as having a wonderful base formulation.
How to you like to pamper yourself when it's cold, dark and miserable outside?
