Today we're talking two cleansers launched this year by Sachi Skin, a brand that I've really loved using over the years. The brand is formed on the basis of Ayurvedic principles intersecting with clinically-proven benefits for your skin. In practical terms; this is a capsule collection of thoughtful and targeted skincare formulas that are highly effective but are well-rounded and support your skin barrier every step of the way. The actives Sachi formulate with are proven, highly effective and never harsh and the product range is minimal, so you know that every new launch has been thought out and formulated to give you as many benefits as possible in a single step...
First up, let's talk about the Saffron Luminous Cleanser* | £38. This has such an interesting texture; it's described as a gel cleanser, but it's not that traditional clear foaming gel cleanser at all, in fact it kind of looks and feels like a balm-gel hybrid. Once massaged onto damp skin it doesn't foam but you get a hint of lathering with the slight frosting it creates. This product is formulated with a balance mix of humectants (glycerin is second on the INCI list) which are going to pull hydration into the skin, and also nourishing ingredients like the safflower seed oil in here, which will also help leave the skin soft and happy after use. These ingredients take care of the moisture levels in your skin during the cleansing process and there are also plenty of added extras in here to ensure you have a good skin day. This cleanser is formulated with brightening ingredients and extracts that are rich in antioxidants (protecting the skin from free radical damage and therefore premature ageing and environmental damage) such as the titular saffron, turmeric and pomegranate extracts. The cleanser also contains oat extract which is soothing and can have anti-dryness and anti-redness properties. There's also a little lactic acid in here, which is an AHA chemical exfoliant, however it does also have hydrating properties. This makes is a great gentle, non-stripping option for both hydrating and smoothing the skin. This has been one of my favourite cleansers lately because it's gentle and it works! It leaves my skin soft, plump and happy after use, I like that it feels like a robust cleanser but it's not at all harsh or drying. This has been a go-to morning cleanse for me lately and I also often use it as a one-step in the evening when I’ve just been wearing skincare and non-water-resistant sunscreen. It’s just a great all-rounder; I have dry skin so I naturally gravitated towards the cream formula we’ll discuss in a moment, but this is actually just as good in my opinion for a slightly different application.
The other formula is kind of the one I knew I’d enjoy; the Saponins Cream Cleanser* | £42. This is a classic rich and creamy kind of cleanser, which is exactly what I like for this time of year; it’s like a hug for my face! It’s completely non-foaming and non-lathering but washes away from the skin easily with water. This is designed to be a skin barrier balancing formula with ingredients such as oat oil (both soothing and moisturising), hydrating amino acids, prebiotics (which can help strengthen the skin barrier), kokum butter (for softer and more nourished skin), panthenol (which is hydrating and also helps the skin to better retain moisture) and again, glycerin for hydration. The surfactant (cleansing agent) in this formula is saponins; a gently cleansing and deeply clarifying option that I don’t see used in enough skincare products (I’ve loved it whenever I’ve come across it though). This is what I’ve been reaching for most mornings when I do want to refresh my skin and remove any retinoids on my skin from last night without leaving it feeling dry (I’m already incorporating an oil into my evening lineup now my skin is starting to feel a little more parched), and I use this as my second cleanse in the evening on makeup days. The texture is dreamy and gorgeous and I’m loving using this; it’s a cleanser that leaves my skin happier than it found it, which is a rarity!
All in all: I enjoyed both of these cleansers! The gel was a pleasant surprise but I think my natural territory of the cream cleanser just about pips it to the post, if I had to choose… Have you tried Sachi Skin?
