Today we're talking about two new launches to the UK by Naturium, which I think are going to be perfect for your body care routine as we head into the colder months. Their Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Wash | £18 | full review | is quite possibly my favourite body wash of all time! So, I was really excited when I saw the two new additions were based on it. Honestly, you don't need both of these products (or either, but I'm guessing you're interested in purchasing one or the other if you're here) so I'm going to speak about each individually and then also compare them a little so you can see which is going to be more up your street...
First up we have the Glow Getter Multi-Oil Body Butter* | £22. In terms of texture; this honestly has everything I want in a body butter without any of the negatives I associate with this kind of formula! It has body but there's an aerated quality to this formula that allows it to spread effortlessly across the skin and not stick in one spot or take ages to rub in (one of my main gripes with heavier body butters, no shade to the Body Shop...) It isn't greasy-feeling and doesn't leave my skin feeling slick, which is impressive given how much is packed in here. It's formulated with shea butter to deeply nourish and soften the skin, alongside the titular multi-oils to leave the skin smooth, hydrated and glowing; we have squalane, safflower, jojoba and coconut. There's also glycerin in here to pull hydration into thirsty skin. Plus, like the body oil, this smells amazing; it's a kind of vanilla and jojoba sweet (but not sickly) and addictive scent. This is a huge tub and the formulation leaves my skin soft and smooth all day long with any dry patches taken care of. I think this is me officially back into body butters!
The other product launched in the UK is the Glow Getter Body Oil* | £26.50. As many on Space NK have noted, this is quite a bit more expensive than most of Naturium's mid-priced product range, and compared to their US website I can see the body butter is £22 vs. $20 and the body oil is £26.50 vs. $24. One for one conversions from USD to GBP used to be pushing it, and whilst I appreciate the market has changed (Brexit, transport cost increases, exchange rate fluctuations and so on), it does still sting a bit! Perhaps the large size of the body butter tub against the smaller bottle of body oil made the price-point more of a sticking point for people... In any event; let's talk about the formula itself. I like that this comes in a pump bottle so you're not splashing on the product, which is both slightly more effort than I like and also can lead to a little bit of product waste if not all of it ends up on your body. The feeling of this product is quite unique; it's definitely an oil but it doesn't have that slip; if you add a pump directly to your skin, it won't slide right off off and will more or less just stay in place. Likewise, when you massage it into the skin it doesn't feel slick or greasy; there's not even that much of a 'shine' to it once you've left it to absorb for a minute following application. It's formulated with safflower seed oil, jojoba oil, linoleic acid (a fatty ingredient that can both replenish and protect the skin), rosehip oil, squalane, oil-soluble Vitamin C and phospholipids. For my extremely dry skin; this is a gorgeous indulgent treat that actually works on a deeper level to nourish my skin. Yes, it smells amazing (the same scent as the body wash and butter), but it's also a hardworking body care formulation.
In terms of which is for you; I think you probably have dry body skin if you're reading this post, so either will help with that. I wouldn't really recommend either if you have an inflammatory skin condition like eczema because the scent is likely to cause irritation. If you're more in my camp where you enjoy a bit of fragrance in your body care products and you're primarily looking for deep nourishment, it's really going to come down to your routine and texture preferences. It seems like a small thing, but I get it: sometimes unscrewing a tub in the morning to apply a body butter feels like a faff, and it that's you then I'd go for the 'grab and go' style of the oil in its pump bottle. Somewhat paradoxically, if you enjoy a touch of indulgence then the stronger scent and the feel of this on your skin might also mean the oil appeals to you more. If you're someone who doesn't love the feel of an oil (even a non-slippery one like this) then of course I'd recommend the body butter. I'd also recommend it if you find that other ingredients like shea butter are really important for that all-round moisturising benefit and you don't think an oil-based formula is going to cut it.
Have you tried any Naturium body care?
