Today we're talking lightweight, hydrating skincare that's going to be perfect for the summer months!

It's actually not that easy to find cleansers that don't give my skin an unpleasant 'tight' feeling, let alone one that leaves my skin happy and hydrated, which is why I love Monday Muse's the Cleanser | £28 | full review. The brand describes this water-based, non-foaming cleanser as a 'milky gel', which feels so accurate! It has this emulsion-like quality that's more moisturising with oil-based ingredients and skin-soothers to calm down inflammation (perfect if you've had sun exposure during the day). This gently cleanses the skin but leave it nice and soft after use. It can be used to remove makeup and sunscreen (I like to use it with a damp cloth for these occasions) or as a gentle morning prep cleanse.

I also love a face mist during the summer months to boost hydration levels in my skin quickly and weightlessly. My go-to product for this is the Laneige Cream Skin Mist | £19 | full review. I've tried so many face mists and most of them seem to disappear within moments of me applying them, often leaving my face drier than before I used them, but not this one! The balance of water-attracting humectants and lipid-based ingredients like Vitamin E and meadowfoam seed oil to lock in hydration and soften the skin. If you have oily skin, you could honestly just use this and move straight on to sunscreen; it's that moisturising.

A hydrating serum that I've been reaching for lately is the REN Everhydrate Marine Moisture-Restore Serum* | £40 | full review. Hydrating serums are ten-a-penny and a product needs to be more than a lacklustre hyaluronic acid formula to make it into my routine. This water-based serum is formulated with hyaluronic acid, alongside glycerin, polyglutamic acid, minerals and antioxidants to protect the skin from free radical damage. It provides lasting hydration to the skin, whilst feeling nice and weightless, and honestly feels like a glass of ice cold water on a hot day for my face.

If you have drier skin like me, finding the perfect summer moisturiser can be a bit of a mission. I personally recommend gel-cream formulas to ensure the product is enough for your skin whilst ensuring it's lightweight enough to allow your skin to breathe in the heat. I really enjoy the Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream* | £35 | full review. This has some body to it but melts right into the skin without smothering it. It contains both water-attracting humectants and moisturising plant oils to strike that perfect balance for my skin type. Plus there's niacinamide as an added active to help with discolouration, excess oiliness and to boost the skin's barrier function. It gives my skin a fresh, dewy glow when first applied and the hydration lasts all day long.

Finally, we have a sunscreen (I have the SPF 30, but if you're wearinging it out and about in the sun, there's an SPF 50 version available too): the Biore Aqua Rich SPF 30* | £14.99 | demo. This is a melting, water-based sunscreen that is designed to act as a moisturiser too, so if you're oily or combination skinned, or even if you're somewhere really hot on holiday: this can go straight on after cleansing (and toning / misting, if you're inclined to do so). It's nothing too shiny or dewy but it does contain hyaluronic acid to pull moisture into the skin whilst protecting it. It doesn't pill and it works nicely under my makeup. I love how easily it melts in and how effortless it makes wearing sunscreen.
