Today we're talking Korean skincare and my top products right now! Let's jump straight in...
First up is an old favourite in a new form: the Laneige Cream Skin Mist | £19. I've been a fan of the original toner / moisturiser for a long while, but something about it being in a mist just takes this product to the next level! It's a milky toner that comes out as a super-fine mist that doesn't leave droplets or any excess on the skin and provides lasting moisture and hydration as well as feeling refreshing. To both draw water into the skin and also soften and condition it, we have amazingly moisturising ingredients like glycerin, meadowfoam seed oil and Vitamin E. If you're sick of face mists that evaporate off into the aether but you want something to quickly boost your skin's moisture levels: this is perfection!
A product that's been a staple for me all throughout the winter has been the Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream | £34. This is a gorgeous moisturiser for day or night; it's nourishing enough but not too thick or heavy to use underneath my makeup and sunscreen, which makes it such a great all-rounder for dry winter skin. It's formulated with fatty-rich alcohols to replenish the skin, nourishing shea butter and moisturising plant oils to soften the skin. There are also several forms of ceramides, which are a crucial component of the skin's lipid barrier; a healthy barrier function keeps things balanced, reduces dryness and minimises irritation. This is just a fantastic moisturiser for keeping the skin happy!
I'm usually a cleansing balm kind of gal, but lately I've found myself instead reaching for the Klairs Gentle Black Fresh Cleansing Oil | £26 (15% off with code JASMINETALKSBEAUTY (affiliate)). This cocktail of plant oils dissolves makeup effortlessly and removes sunscreen in an instant; it's so quick and easy to grab for this in a pump bottle and have my first cleanse done in a couple of minutes. I also have pretty sensitive eyes and this doesn't irritate them at all. I massage the product into my skin to loosen everything up, splash my face with water to make everything milky and then wipe everything off with warm, damp cloth. It's simple, but it works!
Next is another gem from the same brand: the Dear Klairs All-day Airy Sunscreen SPF 50+ PA++++* | £21 (15% off with code JASMINETALKSBEAUTY (affiliate)). This is a newer launch and I love the melting water-based formula. It's elegant, it absorbs easily, it doesn't leave a cast and it doesn't feel greasy (or even too dewy, for those with less of a dry skin type than I). It sits wonderfully under makeup and doesn't pill with my other products or irritate my eyes; all for under £25! When it comes to an enjoyable and easy to use everyday sunscreen: this has to be one of the best formulas on the market.
A new discovery for me that I'm really enjoying right now is the Missha Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence | £32. It's a boost of hydration and glow that works alongside all the powerful actives in my routine; it's a first essence, so is designed to be almost water-light but it absolutely doesn't disappear from the skin! This is formulated with adenosine (great for the skin barrier and for reducing inflammation), niacinamide (strengthens the skin barrier by increasing ceramide production and helps with discolouration), ceramides and cholesterol, soothing Sodium PCA and glycerin to increase hydration levels in the skin. But this product is really famed for its fermented ingredients, which can help repair and strengthen the skin over time. It's such a quick and easy step in my routine and it makes a far greater difference than your average hydrating toner.
Finally, we have the By Wishtrend Vitamin A-Mazing Bakuchiol Night Cream* | £33 (15% off with code JASMINETALKSBEAUTY (affiliate)). This lightweight lotion-cream is a one-step all-rounder for me and my skin. It combines retinal and bakuchiol. Retinoids are your superstar well-ageing hero, with the ability to boost collagen production, improve texture and fine lines and even out the skin's tone. Retinal is my personal favourite form of this ingredient, as it's incredibly effective but not too harsh on the skin. It's combined with a plant-based retinoid 'alternative'; bakuchiol. Whilst I don't think this antioxidant will get close to doing the work of a retinoid on its own (though it's worth a shot if you're pregnant or breastfeeding and can't use retinoids), it could actually boost up the efficacy of your retinoid (whilst being less irritating). It comes in a lovely base of other ingredients to buffer the retinoid, such as glycerin, niacinamide, fatty alcohol, macadamia seed oil, soothing beta glucan and centella, Vitamin E, peptides (to plump and hydrate the skin, plus maybe even boost collagen production) and fermented ingredients. It's a brilliant one-stop-shop if you want to try a retinoid but aren't sure where to start.
