The Everyday Makeup Edit #11

With all my festive content, it feels like forever since I last had a rummage through my makeup bag to chat through the products I'm reaching for at the moment, so we're fixing that today...

Base

I always start my makeup routine by masking those dark circles using the Bobbi Brown Corrector (Peach) | £19.50 | review | under the eyes. To prep my skin, I've been reaching for the REN Perfect Canvas Skin Enhancing Priming Serum* | £50 | review. This is pretty much good skin in a bottle - it smooths out pores and fine lines to create the perfected base for makeup. It also just plumps the skin nicely and takes away any excess shine, ensuring my complexion looks fresh and healthy. I've then been using an old favourite: the Nars Sheer Glow Foundation (Stromboli) | £33 | review. This is just the perfect long-wearing, medium-coverage foundation that has a satin finish. It gives a sort of 'matte radiance' on the skin, perfecting it without adding shine.

For the rest of the base, I have an old favourite and two new additions. I'm sure regular readers are sick of hearing about the Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £24 | review | but I love this stuff. It gives great coverage with a natural finish for both under the eyes and on blemishes and wears well without creasing. As an under-eye brightener I've been enjoying the Milani Retouch + Erase Light-Lifting Concealer (Medium) | £11.99. This is a lightweight medium-full coverage concealer that's amazing for brightening up under your eyes. It's pretty crease-proof and lasts well on my skin. I've then been setting my base using the Glossier Wowder (Medium-Dark) | £18. Irritatingly this is slightly dark on me, whereas the next shade lighter is definitely too fair. However, I do really like the formula; the powder is lightweight and traceless on the skin but keeps the shine at bay and does a good job at setting things in place.

Cheeks

To highlight, I'm a huge fan of the Milani Strobelight Instant Glow Powder in Sunset Glow* | £12.99. The formula is just amazing: it's so smooth and sits naturally on the skin whilst giving an intense highlight. I love this shade because I don't have anything quite like it in my collection - it's a sort of bronzed amber-gold. This month I dug out my MAC Mineralise Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun! | £24.50 | to use for bronzer. It has the same luminous-matte formula as the face powder version that I often use and applies smoothly to the skin, giving a natural look. The pigmentation is good but not over the top and the shade is nice and warm (though might look a bit orange if you have quite pale skin or a more pink undertone).

For blusher, I brought back my old favourite duo - the MAC Pro Palette Blush Refill Pans in Blushbaby & Gingerly | £16 each | which I keep in the Pro Palette Small Compact | £5 | with the Pro Palette Blush x2 Insert | £2. Both of these blushers are in the Sheertone formula, which is matte with natural pigmentation. They're really lovely for an everyday look, applying nicely and lasting on my skin. Blushbaby is a neutral pinky-brown nude, whereas Gingerly is a more orange-brown shade.

Eyes

As always, I prime my eyelids with the Urban Decay Eye Primer Potion | £17 | (to ensure my eye makeup lasts and doesn't crease) followed by the MAC Paint Pot in Layin Low | £16 | (to give a neutral base) which you can read about here. My go-to eye looks have all been with the ColourPop I Think I Love You Eyeshadow Palette | $16 | review. I just really rate the quality of this formula - as I hope you can see from the swatches, there isn't a single shade in here that's disappointing. The colours are warm golds, browns and coppers and there's a great balance of mattes and shimmers.

To line the eyes, I'm still really into my Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Black | £14.50 |, Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Perversion | £15.50 | and Charlotte Tilbury Colour Chameleon in Amber Haze | £19. The Stila is amazing for a winged liner look - it's so pigmented and black and doesn't smudge or transfer, plus the tip is super-precise. The Urban Decay is very opaque and creamy on application but sets down and doesn't budge. It's a matte black I tight-line with. The Charlotte Tilbury smokes out my lower lash line - it's a beautiful cognac-toned golden-bronze-brown shimmer in a creamy but lasting formula.

To finish off my eye look I've been opting for the L'Oreal Lash Paradise Mascara | £11.99. It's one of the few volume mascaras with a fibre wand that really does it for me! It just gives my lashes an amazing boost, and also does a nice bit of curling and lengthening. It doesn't smudge or flake on me either (which are both personal bugbears). For brows I've been alternating between or pairing together the NYX Micro Brow Pencil (Espresso) | £8 | and the Glossier Boy Brow (Black) | £14. When I need a bit of reshape, the NYX is my perfect natural option - it allows me to redefine my brows without looking like too much. If I've just had a tint and shape then Boy Brow is great on its own or can be used with the NYX as a setting product. It gives volume and hold without being thick or heavy, as well as a natural tint.

Lips

I've been reaching for two brown-toned shades on my lips recently: the MAC Matte Lipstick in Taupe | £16.50 | and the Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Americano | £11. Taupe is just my perfect 90s brown-nude matte lipstick. It has a warm undertone and the formula is creamy, comfortable and long-lasting. Americano is a shade I reach for when I'm putting together an evening look. I'm such a fan of this pigmented, non-drying, long-wearing formula and this reddish-brown colour is beautiful.

  1. I felt that I have become obsessed with the L'Oreal Paradise extatic mascara, which is a weird feeling, given that I didn't initially like it at all. haha

  3. I really like the MAC Sheertone blushes. The formula is so easy to throw on in the morning without having to worry about accidentally going overboard! Blushbaby is great - one of my most used everyday shades.

  6. I've been trying to get my hands on the Loreal Paradise mascara but it's constantly out of stock which must be because it's so good! Your MAC Blushbaby & Gingerly duos are stunning, I've never tried any Mac blushers but I really have to look into them xx

  9. I really want to repurchase NARS Sheer Glow soon, I used to absolutely love it - it was my holy grail - and I haven't repurchased it in ages! Also love the sound of the REN serum, saw you mention that in your favourites and I love REN!

  10. My I Think I Love You palette broke this weekend! Only two shadows but still, a shame :( It's always interesting to read what people put on their faces!

  11. That Americano lip color is to die for! I love these kind of rusty reddish brown tones!

I use light/medium in Wowder, and it really is invisible on me. I'm also around an NC40, and its traceless on me. I feel like in photos they play up how it looks on fair skin, but it's pretty transparent.

  12. I love all your picks here of course ;) I really wish Glossier would make a shade in between for the Wowder because we really need that medium shade to make it work. I really like that powder and the dispenser so much xxx

Recently I've been reaching for my old Sugarbomb blusher by Benefit, I almost forgot I had it but ever since I found it back I've been using it all the time!
