I've somehow ended up with more favourites than usual despite my February Spending Ban and it being such a short month! I think it was a combination of things I got for Christmas but hadn't had a chance to properly try yet, stuff I got at the end of last month and a few things I was lucky enough to be sent.
ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in La La | $5 | post
I'm a little bit obsessed with ColourPop and the cheap UK shipping method I found (the details are in the post) has made it really tempting to do regular orders... La La is a stunning rose gold metallic shimmer in a cream formula that's so pigmented and glides right onto the lids. These are really long-lasting and the spongy texture is unlike anything I've come across before.
Morphe 35T Eyeshadow Palette | £18.25 | post
I actually picked this up way back around Black Friday and really liked it, but for the rest of December I was travelling so much I didn't get a chance to use it, as it's far too bulky to take away with me. However I spent most of February in Manchester so decided to take it for a proper spin. It's full of gorgeous taupes, golds, plums, bronzes, browns and pinks. I've been loving a taupe eye with a gold shade pressed onto the middle of my lid with my finger. The quality is vey nice and the price-point is amazing for the amount of colours you get in there.

NYX Matte Lip Cream in Zurich | £5.50 | post
If you haven't tried any of these liquid lipsticks then you absolutely have to! It's one of the best formulas I've come across, with a huge selection of shades and they cost just a fiver each. They're so comfortable and creamy on the lips whilst still having a matte finish and amazing staying-power. Zurich is a peachy-pink nude that's nice and warm in colour, not washing me out. I think this is tied with Cannes as my favourite colour from the range.
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Double Dare | $20
I think I'm now a certified liquid lipstick addict and I'm planning a post all about them soon. I'd wanted to try Kat Von D's for ages so decided to order this and Lolita. Whilst the much-hyped Lolita was lovely too, for me Double Dare was in a league of its own. It's described as 'cocoa blush' so it's a sort of brown-y pink colour that's more eye-catching than a nude but is still everyday appropriate. I also think it would suit a lot of different skin tones. I was also really impressed with the formula; I'm not sure about everlasting but it'll last you the day!
Too Faced Hangover Primer | £27
I had such dry skin during the first half of the month, and even now it's more back to normal I'm still loving this cream-based primer. It's so hydrating thanks to the coconut water it contains and just improves the way my makeup applies and sits on my face. My base looks more skin-like and natural and it just seems to even out the texture, helping it last longer. It's not that smoothing on pores and fine lines but it works well enough.
Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint Foundation | £30
I must admit I rushed out and bought this the second it was released as it sounded exactly my sort of thing, and I wasn't disappointed! It wouldn't say it was that much more matte than Sheer Glow but it has a much lighter, more natural finish. It's not drying and looks like skin whilst still giving you a flawless appearance. I'm still trying it out so I haven't done a full review yet but so far I'm very impressed.
Bourjois Radiance Reveal Concealer | £7.99 | post
The good news: this is one of the best drugstore concealers I've ever tried. The bad news: it only comes in three shades, all of which are aimed towards light-medium skin. It's such a shame Bourjois continue to do this, as their base products are widely considered to be excellent in formula. Luckily the deepest shade works for me, it could be a tad lighter but it doesn't look 'off'. It's a kind of deep peach colour which is amazing at counteracting dark circles. The light texture is also incredible, allowing you to mask the darkness without it looking like you're wearing lots of concealer. It also brightens the area really nicely and I can imagine it would work great as a highlighter if I picked up the next shade down.
Amazing Cosmetics A Little Amazing Concealer* | £19.50
When you call your concealer 'amazing', it better be flipping good! Luckily this is. The tube looks small but you only need the tiniest amount. The formula is really hydrating without being greasy and I've never come across such incredible coverage in what looks like quite a light formula. It seriously does the job of my Nars concealer without the thicker, heavier texture. It's one of the only concealers I like both for under my eyes and for blemishes. If you have oily eyes like me then definitely set it as it could crease, but all-in-all this is a must-try for dry or dehydrated skin when you still want serious coverage. I wear Medium Golden, for reference and it's perfect; not too dark for under the eyes but not too highlighting for blemishes.
NYX Tinted Brow Mascara | £5.50 | post
I think I can say this is the best tinted brow gel I've ever tried. It's pigmented without being crispy and thick but isn't too watery and sheer either. On a good brow day, this is enough to make my brows look thicker and darker. Otherwise, I even the shape up a little with my trusty Soap & Glory Archery Brow Pencil before finishing off the look with this. It's so natural and I love how small the wand is.

When my skin was incredibly dry and sensitive, this was one of the few things that helped. It has a strange gel-like texture and you only need a tiny amount. It didn't irritate my skin and it looked so much fresher and felt far softer. It also helped the appearance of any dehydration lines and overall made my skin look less dull and tired.
Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Winning Streak | £3.99 | post
This is such a gorgeous cream-coloured nude with a tiny hint of pink. I love this formula as it really does dry in minutes and this was far more chip-resistant than the others in the range I've tried. It's already become my most-worn shade this year so far.
Sigma Copper F90 Fan Brush* | $33 | post
This fan brush is not only stunning but it's become my everyday contour tool. I've never really been an everyday contour-er as it just seems far too time-consuming, however this works in just a couple of quick sweeps under each cheekbone. I use a matte bronzer and it just gives that subtle definition that I like for a daytime look.

Very lovely favourites as always. I am indeed looking to try the NARS Velvet Matte but I need to test it out in store to see if it has good coverage and if I can find a perfect shade. I tried the Bourjois Concealer and I actually like it although it is slightly light for me but it works and blends well as a highlighter tho!! ...xx
ReplyDeleteYeah I think I need to pick up a lighter shade as a highlighter as I can tell the formula would be amazing for that! xx
DeleteI have the too faced hangover primer and I love it x

I really didn't like the Amazing concealer - I found it very cakey, especially in my dry undereye area. I'm a big fan of Too Faced Hangover primer too xx

I love the 35T palette it's beautiful! Very similar to the 350 I'm not too sure which one I would choose...!
ReplyDeleteAbigail Alice x
35O is better if you like warm/brown/orange tones whereas the 35T is more for slightly cooler/taupe/plum fans :) xx
DeleteLa La is one of my favourite CP shadows, I really need to break it out more. With all of my new shadow palettes, it's kind of got pushed to the side. I absolutely love their formula, I'm glad you got to try them out!

I really want to try the NARS Velvet Matte, but I'm afraid it might be too much like their foundations. I don't like their foundations on my skin, but I love their Tinted Moisturizer. It just sits better on my skin and doesn't pool up in my pores like the foundations do. I also really want to try the Hangover RX primer. I have had my eye on that baby for a while now!
ReplyDeleteXo,

Great selection of favourites! I love the Too Faced Hangover primer for beauties who dislike the silicon based primers this is a great one. I am tempted by the new Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint foundation, I would be interested to see what your thoughts are on this one.

Loving the new look! I really want to try the new Bourjois concealer and the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. Will probably hold off for a while though as I just bought Sheer Glow. SpaceNK had sold out of my shade of the skin tint :(

I ended up having so many favourites this month too even though I haven't been shopping much lately. Some old discoveries and some random bits. I need to try out Kat Von D liquid lipsticks, had put them on back burner after a negative review some months ago but I am seeing everybody has been raving since. Also, the TBS mask sounds so intriguing, will pick that up during the next sale. :) x
