The Spring Beauty Edit

I can't believe the time has come around again for another one of my seasonal beauty edits - I know it's a cliche but 2016 really has flown by (scary!) I'm normally such an Autumn/Winter girl when it comes the the products I like to use but this year I'm really enjoying playing around with more romantic hues and finding a way to make them work for me personally. Make sure you check out the links to my full reviews below for more in-depth looks at the products, swatches and all that!

Makeup

For me, Spring is all about the glowing base and lots of cream products. I also love adding my own twist on pink tones and peachy shades that have a nice amount of brown in there too.

Rimmel #Instaflawless Primer | £6.99

I know the name of this is a tad gimmicky and trendy but whatever: I like the product! It only seems to come in two shades however the one I have is 07, which is odd - I'm not sure if they're just trialling a couple of colours before releasing the full range. I probably could've got away with the lighter shade but I thought with Spring/Summer coming up this would be the safer bet. The colour isn't massively important as, although it's tinted, as you apply it you are sheering it out a lot. This gives a very subtle glow to my skin - maybe other people don't notice, but I do! It's really nice with a tinted moisturiser as it's nothing glittery or over the top. All in all a great bargain.

It was never going to be any other product when it came to a spring base! I actually just picked up a fresh one as I've been using this pretty much every day since just before Christmas. This can sometimes be a little too hydrating on my combination skin in the summer heat but for this time of year it's perfect. As always, I apply this with my Sephora Pro Airbrush  #55 (post) because it gives such a natural skin-like finish. It's not greasy, it's not overly dewy; just think of it as your skin but more glowing and flawless. It's one of those products where you could genuinely fool someone (ok, maybe a male someone...) that you aren't wearing any base and your skin really just is that amazing!

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer | £17.50 | post

Still keeping things nicely fresh and natural with the base; I find the Urban Decay concealer gives such amazing coverage whilst still feeling light and fluffy. I flip flop between which I prefer out of the Nars and the Urban Decay concealers but I think this is just a bit nicer and more hydrating for a spring makeup look. It's also one of the few concealers I like both for under my eyes and on blemishes.

YSL Touche Eclat | £25 | post

To finish up under my eyes, I'm never without a highlighting concealer. At the moment I'm using YSL's Touche Eclat (shade 4.5) which really illuminates under my eyes and you can even use this as a highlighter on the rest of your face; just blend with a damp makeup sponge.

Topshop Glow Pot Highlighter in Gleam | £9 | post

To highlight my cheekbones (and sometimes my cupid's bow and down the centre of my nose) I use this stunning golden-champagne cream product. It's honestly so pretty and looks dewy but not greasy. It's not glittery at all, instead having a lovely metallic sheen.

This is probably my all-time favourite cream blusher formula as it's a dream to apply (swipe, dab, dab), it isn't too dewy in finish (which usually translates to 'shiny' for me...), it doesn't look patchy on my skin and it doesn't wear off during the day. Golden Peach is gorgeous light peach colour with a really subtle gold shimmer running through it. If you've ever thought cream formulas weren't for you: try this!

Lorac Unzipped Palette | $42 | post

Sorry this is a US product but you can find out how I ordered it cheap, quick and easy through Amazon's pretty great international shipping system here. I'm so glad I took the plunge and got my hands on this as I love it so much! It has to be one of my all-time favourites and if you're not into light, pastel pinks for spring then these more copper, bronzed tones are perfect for you. Every time I swatch these I'm just blown away by the quality and the pigmentation. I'm feeling emotional just thinking about this palette (kidding. Sort of...)

MAC Pro Palette Refill Eyeshadow Pan in All That Glitters | £10 | post

I've never come so close to hitting pan on an eyeshadow this quickly - it's pretty impressive! I love this either as an inner corner highlighter or as a lid shade. It's a unique kind of light nude-bronze that pairs beautifully with both cooler taupes and warmer bronzes.

Rosie for Autograph Eyeshadow Stick in Almond Eyes | £12.50 | post

This has to be one of my most-loved cream eyeshadows (and I've tried a lot!) and it's a lovely beige-champagne colour with a glitter-free metallic sheen. It's creamy but doesn't crease and is long-wearing. Fairer skin tones will love this all across the lid whereas darker skin tones can use it to highlight the inner corner.

L'Oreal False Lash Flutter Mascara | £10.99 | post

When I'm wearing lighter-toned eyeshadow shades I really like to make sure my lashes are on full blast. I tend to go for length more than volume and, whilst this is more on the fluttery, romantic side, it does give me a really nice amount of volume too.

Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Petal | £19 | post

I honestly think I'm going to run out of this soon as I reach for it so often! It's probably my favourite lip balm to wear during the day and the colour is just that perfect rose petal shade.

Skincare, Body & Everything Else

Barry M Speedy Quick Dry Nail Paint in Lap of Honour | £3.99 | post

I really love this but didn't include it in my Spring Lips, Cheeks & Nails post as I'd already talked about Topshop's Parma Violet (which is very similar), so I thought I'd throw it in here. It's just a gorgeous shade; I want to call it lilac but it's just a bit more of a 'colour' than that (maybe 'lilac+'?) I'm a huge fan of this line (all the shades are gorgeous for spring) both for the colours and for the quick-drying formula.

REN Flash Rinse 1 Minute Facial | £32 | post

Continuing with the radiant skin theme, this is probably my #1 product for getting the glow that doesn't involve AHAs. I was a little dubious about what this could really do in a minute but the answer turned out to be 'a lot'! It just gives my tired skin a boost and helps me get that nice, juicy, healthy glow.

The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Moisturiser | £16 | post

This is a product I harped on about a LOT last summer and now we're moving into spring it's time to get it back out. It's a gel formula so feels very hydrating but sinks into my skin easily so it's left fresh and glowing.

Avene Eau Thermal Water Spray* | £7

I'm absolutely loving this at the moment as it's so hydrating. If your skin is feeling dry, dull or dehydrated then this is a great quick fix. I also have a mini one I pop into my handbag if I want to refresh my skin during the day. It works well even over makeup and just seems to make everything look nice and blended if things are feeling a bit caky and dry. I also hear this is amazing for making curls look fresh, which I will definitely be trying out over summer.

Roger & Gallet Precious Restoring Rose Body Balm* | £17

This is a really unique body cream with a lovely, light, almost mousse-like texture. It's nothing too heavy, greasy or thick for spring; I find it sinks really nicely into my dry skin and feels very hydrating. I absolutely love the rose scent as it's certainly noticeable but it's not overwhelming. There's something very fresh about it that stops it feeling dated, like some other rose scents I've tried. I've been really into fragrance-layering recently and this is perfect for that.

Philosophy Fresh Cream Eau de Toilette | £34

This balances beautifully with the Roger and Gallet body cream; I love the combination at the moment. It's a sweet but light cream fragrance that smells so beautiful without being too sickly or heavy for this time of year.

What are your must-haves for spring?

  1. Lovely pics, I really want that Zoeva unzipped and Kiko looks lovely, but does it make your cheeks oily?
We do not have any season here so we can pretty much wear anything all year round but sometimes I envy all these seasonal things going on in another country.
