My New Obsession | the Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette

I have been after this little beauty for a good year; it was out of stock on Amazon US for ages, my boyfriend couldn't find it anywhere in New York so I thought we may never be together. So when I saw it was back in stock I just had to have it! I know everyone goes on about the Pro Palette but for me personally I already have a lot of shades similar to those, whereas with the Lorac Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette ($42) it was love at first sight...

It cost me in total around £38 for this palette. The UK shipping was £4-ish then the import fee was £6-7. I got this directly from Amazon, not through a 3rd-party seller because firstly there are a lot of fake Lorac palettes floating around and secondly because Amazon calculates an approximate tax/duty charge which you pay there and then. If the actual duties are more than this then they pay the difference, meaning what you see in your basket is the final amount you pay. I was also impressed this was with me just 7 days after I ordered and I received text and email updates on its progress. A lot of people say this is a dupe of the Naked 3 but I would disagree slightly as the shades are definitely more on the copper side than pinks and purples, plus if you're in the UK by the time you've paid all the shipping and duty fees they work out at a similar price. It seems to go in and out of stock constantly so if you want to order it just keep your eye on the listing.

The product was packaged securely and arrived in perfect condition. The palette is cardboard, which isn't my favourite, with a slight magnetic closure. You also get a little sample of the Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer, which is handy. I'm saving this for when I go away as I love the size for travelling but I'll let you know how I get on with it (although I'm not sure I'd be able to get my hands on the full-size even if I do!)

Now, onto the eyeshadows themselves... After all the effort I went to in order to get hold of this palette I was a little scared it wouldn't live up to my sky-high expectations. Well, let me tell you: I had nothing to worry about! The nude, gold and copper tones are just beyond beautiful. Then there's the texture! I feel like I almost love the quality of these more than the Urban Decay eyeshadows. They're so smooth, buttery, pigmented and last so well on me. I have pretty oily eyeshadows but these still look beautiful after hours of wear and are still very much in place until I remove them at the end of the day. If I'm going to nit-pick there's a tiny bit of fall-out, but I'm really clutching at straws to find a negative.

I can wholeheartedly say I use every single shade in this palette, which is something I don't do often with one of this size. There is one shade with a sort of pearly sheen, which is the cream colour Undercover that I use as a base and on the brow bone. It's one of the best quality light shades in any palette I own. There is one glitter shade, Untamed, a deep (almost black) red. Whilst I'm usually not a fan of glitter, this doesn't look like you have huge bits of sparkle on your eyes at all and I love it to add a bit of smokiness. There are 3 matte shades: Unconditional, Unbridled and Unspoken, all of which I like as crease shades. Again, I can't believe the quality of these as mattes are so hard to get right. Unconditional is a taupe, Unbridled a deep plummy-red and Unspoken a warm caramel brown. Finally there are 5 shimmers: Unbelievable, Unattainable, Undiscovered, Unreal and Uncensored. Unbelievable (a beautiful rose gold) and Unattainable (a warm bronze) are two of my most reached-for in the entire palette. Undiscovered is a bright gold, perfect as a highlight in the inner corner of your eye. Unreal is probably the least 'wow' shade in the palette for me however this light pink is another nice one for your inner corner. Uncensored is a deep bronze, which I love on the outer corner of my eyelid.

All in all I'm so glad I went to the trouble of getting this and it actually ended up being really fuss-free in the end ordering through Amazon. If you've been umming and ahhing over this (or any other of the Lorac palettes) you will not be disappointed! If you're not quite sure on this one, I think I've found an amazing dupe for it you can pick up easily in the UK for under £8... After I posted pictures on my Instagram, you guys said you'd like to see a comparison with swatches so that is on the way!

Do you own a Lorac palette? Are they worth the hype for you?

  31. Hey, do you know that LORAC website offers 35% off these couple days? ;) I'm intrigued to buy the Skinny palette in Nude but apparently it was out of stock :( But LORAC Pro palette is forever wishlist item, I've been wanting to purchase that but kinda hesitate since it's quite pricey and I'm no pro eyeshadow user either. This palette looks pretty as well, kinda in dilemma in which to choose LOL!

    1. Well if you're not that big on eyeshadow maybe it's a good idea to invest in one that will do it all for you :) the Pro seems to have a good mix of neutrals vs. smokier shades and mattes vs. shimmers! xx

  37. Love the shades in this palette. £38 is not bad for a palette that came all the way from the US. I was thinking of getting the Lorac Pro via Amazon, but it's £50, so I'm still deciding... as I think it's quite a lot for what it is. x

  38. Unbridled, Uncensored, and Unbelievable, ohh my! I clearly NEED the Lorac Unzipped more than the Lorac Pro. Certainly looking into this, £38 is so reasonable, especially if its coming from the US.
