An Intro to ColourPop | Haul, Review, Swatches & UK Shipping

I finally did it! After months of toing and froing: I did a ColourPop order! ColourPop is a pretty new brand and pretty much all of their products are cream. Their range is pretty extensive, especially the eyeshadows; there are so many shades! They're very affordable but don't currently ship to the UK, so stay tuned to find out how I got my hands on these bits.

Matte Lippie Stix in Lumiere | $5

This is a gorgeously creamy and non-drying twist-up semi-matte lip crayon. It reminds me a lot of Nars Anna as it's the kind of dusky pink mauve that's more than a nude but less than a colour. It's not as long-lasting as a more true matte but it's so comfortable to wear and easy to apply that I really don't mind too much!

Super Shock Ultra Metallic Eyeshadow in La La | $5

This is the perfect shimmery copper cream eyeshadow. It's got a gorgeous dewy metallic finish and the colour is beautiful. I have to give credit to Umm Baby as I basically just bought all the shades she has and I wasn't disappointed! I love how pigmented this is and the spongy cream formula really is unique. It doesn't crease and is amazingly long-lasting. I love this as a highlight or a lid shade. Over the lid, I just apply it using my finger but for a more precise inner-corner highlight I go for the Sigma E45* (post).

Super Shock Satin Eyeshadow in Desert | $5

This is a fairly matte-looking eyeshadow with a sheen to it (more so than with the blush). It's a warm medium brown with slightly taupe undertones that I've been loving as a base. It's still very creamy and pigmented, which is great as I was worried this might be a bit dry. I tend to apply this with my fingers.

Super Shock Matte Eyeshadow in Bandit | $5

This is billed as a matte shade, though it did still have the slightest hint of sheen. It's an interesting deep reddish-brown that I've been loving in the crease and the outer v of my eyelid to finish off the coppery eye look. Again, the colour payoff is gorgeous and it isn't in the least bit dry or difficult to blend. I've been applying this with my Sigma E25* (post) as it's a little too tricky to use my fingers, even for a soft crease look.

Super Shock Cheek Pearlised Highlighter in Wisp | $8

This is a Becca Opal-eqsue perfect highlighting shade. It's a sort of pearly golden-champagne that isn't too golden or too silvery. Again it's a cream product, but it doesn't feel greasy at all on my skin. It does have some flecks of glitter but still has a really natural glowing appearance on the skin.

Super Shock Cheek Satin Blush in Quarters | $8

This is a deep peachy-orange shade which is matte-look but has a very slight sheen to it. Cream blushers can be a bit hit or miss for me, as I do have combination skin so in the worst case scenario they're thin, greasy and shiny on my skin and disappear within a couple of hours. However as far as cream formulas go, this isn't too dewy at all; it's almost like mousse formula that looks quite matte on the skin. It feels very silky to apply and is so pigmented. I just dab a bit of it on with my fingers for a natural bit of colour to the cheeks. It also lasts me a good 6-8 hours, which is amazing for my skin and a cream product.

The UK Shipping Details

I shipped my parcel to the UK using a 3rd-party forwarding service, which I was more than a little apprehensive about! I chose Shipito. If you aren't familiar with these services, you set up an account and are given a US address. You then visit the website you want to order from and check out using this address and they forward it to you.

It took around a week for ColourPop to ship the order (I placed it around Black Friday, so it wasn't a surprise) and once my package was received by Shipito, I was sent an email notifying me. I then logged back into my account and selected the shipping option I wanted. The prices ranged from around $8 to $40+ depending on delivery time and company. I chose the cheapest option (Economy Airmail) and purchased insurance against loss (you have to pay a couple of dollars for photos of your items to get cover for damage) for an extra couple of dollars as I'd heard horror stories.

I was then prompted to fill in a customs declaration which was just the value and type of goods in the package ($30, as ColourPop give you $5 off for signing up to their mailing list so I did that). I also entered in the weight which Shipito give to you under your Shipping Details. The total for shipping, insurance and customs came to $12.47, which I then settled through Paypal. The declaration meant that when my parcel arrived two weeks later I was not hit with any unexpected customs charges or Royal Mail handling fees (though I can't say 100% that this would be the same for a larger order). I cannot comment on larger orders (or if there's complete consistency in how customs are charged) but my modest order was fine.

Shipito have a live chat service which made things easier too, however I'm still hesitant to 100% recommend you try this as the safe arrival of your parcel is not in their hands, it's down to the carrier that delivers it (Shipito is not liable for this and likely will be unable to help you once the parcel leaves their warehouse). Economy Airmail isn't known for its reliability so I would strongly advise purchasing insurance for $2-3. However I would order from them again given that between me ordering from ColourPop was only 2-3 weeks and the products, shipping, customs and insurance came to under £30!

Overall I love everything I picked up and I'm already planning my next order...

Have you tried ColourPop? What are your favourite products or what's on your wish list?

  1. I love the look of Colourpop products but I don't think I could justify the shipping costs at all! I may need to get my friends to bring some over because their products are absolutely gorgeous, especially Wisp. Hopefully soon they will ship to the UK directly! xx

    1. $12 is only about £8 so to be honest I thought it was fine, especially as many UK-based companies charge £6 anyway xx

  9. "La La" looks so good!! I've never tried colourpop because I'm always the type of person to have to go into a make up store and try the products before I buy them, but I'm so tempted to buy colourpop's shadows! The price is amazing along with the quality! Also the collection to choose from is wonderful! Thanks for the review! xo

  13. I want Colourpop products more than anything! They don't ship to my country as well but I'm still hesitant about a forwarding service, since I don't know how much it'd cost me. I'll do my research and hopefully get my hands on them. xo

  14. These all look like lovely items, especially that lipstick has a beautiful shade. Such a shame that the shipping takes so much effort, really want to try some of their products but it seems like such a hassle to get it to the Netherlands.

I'm really apprehensive about getting it shipped through a company like you have suggested because knowing me it would go wrong! Everything you've picked up looks really great - I'm especially interested in the lip products from Colourpop!xo

  19. I am desperate to try ColourPop, I think their products look insanely gorgeous and for the price it is all amazing! It's so funny to me that they spell the name of their company in the English way as opposed to ColorPop and yet they don't ship to the UK, it also makes me cry a little inside haha. Hopefully, they will expand their company and start shipping to the UK too as they are gaining so much good press and popularity. Great post, all of the shadows look gorgeous.

But you need to try the shade Brink it is gorgeous :) also I agree the formula of the matte lipsticks are soooo good, it makes me annoyed that we can't get colourpop easily because I would pick up so many other shades. The total price of your haul is such a bargain, I am definitely going to be considering shipitto next time, thanks for sharing ^_^

I love everything you ordered and I'm so happy to hear you liked the shades of the shadows. La La really is the stand out, and Bandit is amongst my favourite crease shades. Desert is my favourite shadow when I want to look like I have no makeup on ;)
I am so glad you talked about your experience with the 3rd party shipping, because like you I have a huge list of things I want to try. LOL! I might have to place an order soon.
