There's nothing more I love than a nude lip! My perfect 'my lips but better' shades are pink-browns, and whilst I do wear other kinds of nudes and even sometimes *gasp* bright or deep shades, these are perfect for work days. So I thought I'd share my collection with you today.
This is a gorgeous warm brown nude tinted lip balm. It's so nourishing on my dry lips and adds a nice hint of honey colour. It's definitely more pigmented than you'd expect and I love the scent and taste of this too.
This has worn down into a bit of a weird shape but hey; it's well-loved. It's one of those 'grab it and go' shades that's a lovely pinky brown nude in a nice and moisturising formula. I much prefer the Intense version to the normal Chubby Sticks as they're much more creamy and pigmented. With the normal Chubby Sticks, you can get dupes for a fraction of the price that are pretty much the same but I've never tried anything quite like the Intense ones.
This is a sheer, very hydrating lipstick formula that's very close to my natural lip colour but gives my lips that extra little bit of rosy colour.
MAC Lustre Lipstick in Jubilee | £15.50
The MAC Lustre formula is one of my favourites from them as it just gives a nice subtle wash of colour. Jubilee is, of course, quite sheeny and fairly sheer so I think it looks a little different on every person that wears it. It's just a lovely beige-nude with a tiny hint of brown-pink.
I'm not sure about the 'primer' claims of this (it seems a bit of a gimmick to me) but this is a moisturising, sheeny but still pigmented formula. This is probably the least natural of the bunch but the reddish brown colour is lovely for when you want something hydrating but a little bit more than a tinted lip balm.
This is probably the deepest brown nude but it's still a little more natural on my skin tone than something like MAC's Taupe or Velvet Teddy. It's a satin sort of finish so gives the pigmentation of a matte whilst still having a bit of a sheen to it and not being as drying. It's a rich, warm brown nude colour.
Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick in Downtown Cafe | £23 (only available as a duo)
This is such a lovely, creamy formula that's pigmented but still has nice sheen. It's a gorgeous pink-brown nude with a little hint of mauve. The unique shape of the bullet makes it really easy to apply without the need for a liner.
I think these may be being discontinued as they don't seem to be re-stocking the shades in my local Boots and the price of them has gone down on the website! Anyway, I love the creamy but pigmented and non-drying formula of these lipsticks. Naked Beige is a lovely true warm beige-brown nude.
I really need to get more Urban Decay lipsticks as this is one of my most-worn shades. It's a pink-brown nude with some slight mauve undertones. I love how creamy and comfortable this is on my lips whilst still being really pigmented.
Individually neither of these are that natural on me but together they are perfection! Spice is a warm dark brown nude (pretty much the Taupe lipstick in liner form) whereas Zurich is a lighter, peachier nude that's just within the parameters of what suits me. Zurich lightens Spice up a little whilst Spice balances Zurich, making it more natural and less vivid. The Spice lip liner is the exact right balance of waxy and creamy, making anything layered on top of it last longer. I've professed my love for the NYX lip cream formula many times, but it really is gorgeously creamy and non-drying whilst still giving a matte finish.
