Best in Beauty 2015 | Skincare, Bodycare, Haircare & Everything Else

I've tried and loved so many new skincare, haircare and body products this year so I'm really excited to share the best of the bunch with you. Unlike with my Makeup Favourites, I haven't categorised this as much because for some product type I have several I love, but for others I may have none that were that life changing (and I don't want to include stuff for the sake of having the category!) Again, these are products I discovered this year, not necessarily my most-used this year or ones that were released this year.

Skincare

Facial Oil: Trilogy Natural Certified Organic Rosehip Oil | £16.50

I almost didn't include this, as it's a relatively new pick but it's really quite incredible! I used to love the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery but it went from giving me eye-popping results to doing literally nothing (I have no idea why!) This does everything that used to do for me and more but costs half the price. I use this overnight and by morning my skin looks fresher, more glowing and feels soft and hydrated. It also helps to clear up any blemishes, old or new.

All-Round Face Mask: Antipodes Aura Manuka Honey Mask | £22.99 | post

When my skin is just rubbish in every possible way, I reach for this! The formula is so hydrating and honey has natural antibacterial properties that make it perfect for combating blemishes. Unlike a lot of anti-blemish treatments, this isn’t harsh or drying in the slightest, instead it leaves my skin soft and nourished. It’s one of the few products I’d recommend for any skin type.

Glow-Giving Face Mask: REN Glycolactic Radiance Renewal Mask | £ | post

I’ve never tried a facemask that gives such immediate and noticeable results! If your skin is a bit dull or lacklustre then this is your best friend as the gel-like formula leaves my skin glowing and fresh in just ten minutes. The AHA ingredients mean it’s essentially exfoliating your skin with glycolic and lactic acids so also helps fade scarring.

Anti-Belmish Face Mask: Super Facialist Una Brennan Salicylic Acid Anti-Blemish Clay Mask | £9.99 | post

This is one of the most intensive skincare products I own! It’s a clay mask that contains the BHA salicylic acid, which is incredible for blemish and acne-prone skin. This can clear up my breakouts overnight and is a budget must-have. You can seriously feel it working on your skin and it also gives you a bit of a glow boost.

Serum: Vichy Aqualia Thermale Serum | £22.50 | post

This was a bit of a budget hero for me until they increased the price by about 30%! However it must have been good as I did suck it up and repurchase this anyway (you can usually grab it on sale or with a discount code from Escentual, Look Fantastic or Feel Unique anyway). It’s a water-based serum, which is something I’d never tried before but this means it sinks into the skin really quickly. It’s super-hydrating but not too rich on my combination skin.

This is an absolute steal and also happens to be one of my favourite skincare products of all time. It’s a cleansing butter for removing makeup, so I take a small amount, warm it with my fingers and massage it over my face and eyes. I then take a warm, damp muslin cloth and in seconds 99.9% of my makeup has been removed. It melts into an oil-based formula that can take on even the most stubborn waterproof mascara whilst still being gentle on the eyes. I’ve tried a lot of similar cleansers but nothing quite compares to this.

Cleanser: REN Clearcalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser | £19 | post

I've never tried a cleanser quite like this before but nothing seems to quite live up to it now I have. It's a non-drying clay-based formula that feels beautiful on the skin. My skin feels clean and fresh but not stripped. It's also a huge help when I'm breaking out as it helps clear up my skin fast.

Toner: Pixi Glow Tonic | £18 | post

This was my first AHA-based product and as you can probably tell, it started an obsession! I use this bright-orange, sweet smelling tonic as a toner after I've cleansed once or twice a week. It makes my skin look immediately more glowing and I've noticed older blemish scars have faded significantly since I started using this regularly.

Body Care

Bath Product: The Body Shop Deep Sleep Comforting Milk Bath Float | £14 | post

I'm not sure if this has been discontinued, but I'll be gutted if it has as this is amazing! It has a gorgeous, relaxing, milky scent and produces some serious bubbles. The scent really helps me drift off if I have a bath before bed.

Body Wash: Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter | £7 | post

Whether it's as a body wash or in place of shaving foam; I love this and I think I'm on my third bottle of the year! It's a thick but foaming cream formula that feels so luxurious on the skin. I love the scent: brown sugar, almonds, oats, all the yummy, indulgent fragrances. For £7 you can't go far wrong.

I had my work cut out for me as I've got several hand creams I love, but when my hands are at their driest (like now!) Nothing hydrates my hands like this whilst leaving them grease-free; it's amazing!

Body Lotion: Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk Lotion | £10 | post

This is also in the same gorgeous scent as Whipped Clean. The pump means it's so quick and easy to have on your dresser and use even on busy weekday mornings. The formula is quite light, however it's still really nourishing.

Lip Balm: Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm | £9.50 | post

Hands down the best lip balm I've ever tried! It has a thick consistency so I put this on before bed. By the morning my lips are smooth and soft. They haven't felt overly chapped or sore at all this winter thanks to this.

Haircare

Hair Styling Product: Charles Worthington Volume & Bounce Texturising Spray | £6.99 | post

Another product I'm paranoid they're discontinuing as I couldn't find this in-store or online for ages, though I found it in a random Boots in London so bought several cans! Anyway, this is basically a miracle product for adding volume and some oomph to my hair. Whether your hair is too silky, a bit fine or just tends to look a bit flat; this is the answer! Real-life non-blogger people even noticed when I switched to using this.

Although I did enjoy my Moroccanoil mask this year, it is quite heavy, whereas this budget find feels light and hydrating on my hair. I love the light coconut scent and it leaves my dry, damaged hair feeling so much more moisturised without any excess or greasiness. For £6, you have to give this a go!

Fragrance

Personal Fragrance: Diptyque Philosykos Eau de Toilette | £75 | post

I've really been loving Diptyque's fragrances this past year but my absolute favourite is the woody, fruity Philosykos. It's a gorgeous blend of cedar wood and fig and even just smelling this now takes me back to summer.

Home Fragrance: Diptyque Noisetier Standard Candle | £40 | post

This is the most expensive candle I've ever bought for myself, so expectations were high. However this didn't disappoint! It's such an interesting and unique scent that has so many layers to it. I think the hazelnut and a hint of fruitiness come through the most. It's a warm scent that fills the room when I burn it and I'm holding on to that last little bit as £40 is a lot to repurchase a candle!

Everything Else

This perfect greige shade has been my most-worn nail colour this year by far! Partly because it's stylish but still daytime-appropriate but also because of the convenience of the fast-drying formula.

Nail Polish Honourable Mention: Essie Eternal Optimist Nail Polish | £7.99 | post

This was one of my first and still one of my favourite Essie nail colours. It's a lovely tea rose shade and a perfect nude for me, which means it was another of my go-to nail colours in 2015.

Bedtime Product: This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray | £16 | post

I didn't try this for this longest time as I really couldn't imagine it making much of a difference. I was so wrong! It's really helped me drift off to sleep more quickly and to wake up less during the night. I was getting awful bouts of insomnia at the start of the year but this is one of the changes I made that helped me settle back into a natural routine.

What were your favourite body and skincare products of 2015?

  2. I felt the same way about the This Works Sleep spray. But I now can't go a night without! Not sure if it's a placebo effect or it really does work, but I love this little ritual every night.

Will definitely have to repurchase the Vichy Aqualia Thermal serum at some point but I hadn't realised they increased the price! It was about £16 last time I bought it!
