November Makeup Menu

Is it really time for another monthly makeup menu already? The past month since my last has been seriously busy so it’s been pretty easy to choose the products for this makeup menu as even when I haven’t been travelling I’ve still been reverting to my tried and tested products.

This is by far my favourite drugstore primer! It comes out as a cream that applies so easily and feels almost hydrating on the skin despite blotting away any shine. My makeup applies so nicely and sits really well throughout the day when I use this. It definitely prolongs the wear-time and keeps my shine at bay.

I’ve rediscovered this in a big way recently. My skin has been so dehydrated since the weather started getting colder and this is moisturising without being too shiny on the skin (also helped by using the primer). I really like the coverage of this as it really evens out the skin tone whilst feeling very light, making it seem as though your skin is just natural flawless. The shade St Moritz is perfect for me too.

I must say, when I bought this I didn’t realise it was the same price as her foundation for just a highlighter-concealer. However, I do really like this. On one end is a hydrating eye cream and on the other is a concealer-highlighter hybrid. It has pretty good coverage (though I’d still use a corrector under it) and brightens the area really nicely. Shade 3 is perfect for me as it’s highlighting without being dramatically different in colour to my skin tone. It’s not a must-have but I’ve really enjoyed using it this month.

I bit the bullet and finally got myself an Original BeautyBlender last month. I’ve tried a few different ways to use it and I’ve pretty much decided that for me I like this best for blending my base together once I’ve applied my foundation and concealer with brushes. I have it either slightly damp with water or setting spray and lightly bounce it under my eyes and on my face to ensure everything’s nicely blended. For me, I think it’s a bit overhyped and whilst I like using it, I probably could happily do my makeup without it.

This subtle, glitter-free gold highlighter has been my absolute favourite this month. The texture is so beautiful and easy to blend and gives that amazing ‘lit from within’ look to the skin.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect after hastily ordering a £5 blusher from the Boots website (which is terrible for shade images), however I’ve barely worn anything else this month. This is that perfect peachy ‘something’ to add to my cheeks. The formula is amazing and applies with no effort and I also don’t find it goes patchy throughout the day.

Although I’ve still been using my ABH Dipbrow Pomade, I’ve been liking setting my brows with a slightly tinted brow gel. This one from B holds my brows in place and adds a hint of colour without them feeling crispy or adding fibres that would look a bit too much for me. I have the shade Indian Chocolate.

MAC Eyeshadow Quad with All That Glitters, Quarry,Woodwinked and Sable | £10 per shadow, £4.50 for quad | post

I’ve pretty much exclusively used this little MAC quad on my eyes this month. I have All That Glitters (a light bronze-nude shimmer) as a highlight, Quarry (a taupe-mauve matte) as the crease colour, Woodwinked (an antique gold-bronze) as the lid colour and Sable (a red-brown shimmer) for the outer ‘v’. It’s such an easy eye look to wear for day or night.

Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara | £7.99 | post

This month I was reunited with my one true mascara love; I bought a fresh Maybelline Lash Sensational! It's really been reaffirmed this is my favourite mascara. I manages to coat and curl every single lash, adding amazing length and a nice bit of volume.

This past month was the one where I (finally!) tried the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvets. And I was not disappointed! The formula is creamy, comfortable and non-drying on the lips but has a long-lasting matte finish. My favourite shade is Nudist; a dusky pink nude.

My go-to nail shade recently has to be In Stitches as it’s daytime appropriate without strictly being a nude. It’s the sort of deep dusky pink shade I love. See it in action here.

What do you think of my makeup menu this month? What have been your go-tos lately?

  3. I've had the Maybelline Lash mascara, it's great for drugstore prices. I've always wanted to try the NARS Tinted Moisturizer, maybe I will get that or the Laura Mercier one once I finish my Neutrogena tinted moisturizer. My favorite fall lippie has been NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in "Copenhagen" oh my gosh I am so in love with it and get so many compliments!

  4. Glad to know the CT concealer isn't a must have as it's SO pricey! That NYX blush is so pretty though, I'm always drawn to those types of colours :)

  14. What a perfect little Mac quad! Quarry or Haux are next on my list of shades to get, I'm blaming your posts entirely for the amount I've spent on mac eyeshadows lately haha. I've been using All That Glitters all over my lid with Cranberry in the crease pretty much every day for the last couple of weeks. x

  15. Nudist is my absolute fave! I also managed to buy some more from the line and was let down a bit by the pigmentation, which is such a shame since I love Nudist so much!

I wish that Soap & Glory would sell more things here in the USA, I'm always hearing so much about their makeup products and would love to try some. The conversion rate for pounds to dollars is so horrible I could never try and buy it that way but fingers crossed they bring more stuff here!

  17. Ah! You got a Beauty Blender...I've been planning to bite that bullet too since I opened up a new RT Sponge and its a complete different texture to my original one. And seriously, I feel I have to somehow get my hands on So Hollywood...we have so many of the same faves and same makeup items on the go...love it!

  20. So hollywood is SOOO glam I love the look of it!!
I picked up Charlotte's older concealer when I bought the powder and I haven't gotten around to trying it yet as I want to finish off some of my other concealers first but when I checked my receipt at home I was shocked! Its pretty much the same price as the foundation which if I had realised at the time, I would have taken more time to think about if it was worth it or not D:
Ahh well at least I know it works well, even if its painful to my bank account!

    1. Haha I love that exactly the same thing happened to both of us! I kind of assumed it'd be £20-25 as I'd never think a concealer is worth the same price as a foundation from the same brand xx

  21. Mac's "quarry" looks quite unique to me, I don't think I have an eyeshadow in this color! The Anastasia highlighter looks so pretty!

  22. I have to say I totally agree with you about the Beauty Blender - it's NOT revolutionised my makeup routine like I expected it to at all and it's something I tend to use when I have extra time, such as for a night out or special occasion when I really want my base to look as flawless as I can get it. Sable & Woodwinked from MAC look right up my street though!

  24. So many good eyeshadow picks here, I have 3/4 is those mac shadows and I love them all. Ah sucks to hear that you think the beauty blender is overhyped, I think it depends how you use it because for me I literally can't get my foundations to look nice without it.

  35. Oooh, I love this little round up you did (and the photos!). I just bought the beautyblender (it came in a gift pack) and I'm kind of intimidated haha. I normally apply foundation with my fingers (my fave way of applying) and recently I bought a Tarte airbrush foundation brush which I've been loving so, switching up my routine again haha.

Thanks for the detailed review. I may check out Charlotte Tillbury. I've heard so many good things about her products!

  39. Jas! Congrats on bitting the bullet to get the beauty blender! Well, at least you get to try it on your own and you can certainly say you can go without it, which makes things easier in the future... haha, you don't need to buy another BB. You can certainly utilise the extra molah trying something else hehe. Have you tried a sponge from Real Technique before?

Btw, I love your picks! The CT concealer looks great! I can never wear a concealer by itself. Sadly, my bags are too prominent to cover haha. Hence, a corrector & concealer comes in handy :) MAC Sable & woodwinks are one of my faves too :) xx
