Autumn Cheek Wardrobe

Autumn is the time to rock a slightly deeper cheek shade, which is perfect for me as I do not suit brights or pretty pastels overall! I love deeper plummy tones, mauves and also deep browns and peaches for my favourite season.

I haven’t tried much of Zoeva’s makeup but I’ve been blown away by the products I have. I cannot believe these are under £7 because the formula is miles ahead of anything else I’ve tried at this price-point. Although it’s a powder formula, it’s incredibly creamy and pigmented. Although it has a matte finish (which I usually find the hardest to work with), it’s so easy to apply and doesn’t fade or go patchy throughout the day. Burning Up is a gorgeous deep burnt orange shade that’s gorgeous for Autumn.

I really don’t think MAC’s Sheertone blusher formula gets enough love. I think it’s really great, as although you get nice colour pay-off it’s really hard to go wrong when applying these and you’ll get a very natural look. This is a matte-look finish in a sort of pinky-brown. It’s the perfect everyday blusher, especially for work or if you’re in a rush and want something that will work with pretty much anything.

Another matte Sheertone shade is the aptly-named Gingerly. It's a ginger-peach-brown-nude (think Autumn leaves) with a matte finish. Having seen them swatched together, Zoeva Burning Up is slightly brighter but looks like a dupe to me!

Rounding off the cream blushers is perhaps my favourite formula; another KIKO gem. This seriously has the most beautiful, pigmented, easy-to-apply texture that’s just the right level of creaminess. It doesn’t feel dewy and it also doesn’t feel so matte that it’s awkward to work with; it’s the perfect balance. Geranium is a lovely reddy-rose matte that I love for this time of year and it’s perfect if you’re not quite brave enough to rock super-dark blusher.

I really wasn’t sure what to expect from H&M’s new beauty range (a full review of the products I have is on the way) but this cream blusher was a pleasant surprise. The formula is again semi-matte in finish and not greasy in the slightest. I also find it has decent wear-time without going patchy. The shade Cameo Brown is lovely as although it’s a muted matte nude colour, it has rose undertones that help to lift my complexion.

KIKO never fail to disappoint with the creativity, packaging and above all quality of their Limited Edition collections and Rebel Romantic is no exception. This is a really unique formula as it’s a cream blusher but it dries fairly matte and isn’t greasy or patchy in the slightest. It’s a beautiful plum-rose matte shade that gives that ‘just got in from the cold’ look.

The day will come when I stop talking about this blusher. But today is not that day. The formula is incredible; easy to blend, applies effortlessly, pigmented and long-lasting. I love the whole ‘lit from within look’ – it’s honestly a real thing and this blusher gives it you. Mood Exposure is the perfect slightly plummy-mauve colour to bring my face to life. Plus it’s gorgeous!

Laura Geller really is underrated as a brand and her highlighting blushers really are amazing. I know shimmer doesn’t really scream Autumn but it really doesn’t show on the cheeks; it just looks like a natural bit of colour. Roseberry is named perfectly as it has elements of both berry and rose. It’s effortless to apply so I’ve been reaching for it a lot lately.

I’ve kind of been waiting until Autumn to start wearing this beauty. It’s a really interesting dusky rose mixed with red berry and has a slight golden shimmer running through it. It’s super-pigmented so I use a light hand to get a natural flush of colour.

What are your favourite blusher shades to wear for Autumn?

  13. Need to stop reading your blog, your collection makes me insanely jealous and I always leave your page with a list as long as my arm of things to buy! I'm yet to try any of Zoeva's make up line but love their brushes. The eyeshadow palettes look gorgeous (especially Cocoa Blend) and the blush you've picked up sounds great. I always struggle with blusher ending up patchy through the day x

  31. You've chosen some fantastic shades. I love MAC's Blushbaby but don't have Gingerly - I'll definitely be swatching it when I'm next near a counter. I'm loving MAC Style at the moment, the shade reminds me of the orange shade of Autumn leaves & it a great shade to transition from Summer. Xx
