It’s no secret that Zoeva are my favourite makeup brush
brand overall and I use my Rose Gold Sets every day (reviews here and here) so
I was thrilled to receive the Bamboo Volume 2 Set* | £55 to feature. These
brushes are vegan, so if you’re a vegan who always loved the look of Zoeva’s
more premium-finish sets but couldn’t get them for this reason, you’re in luck!
On first impressions it looked like there were repetitions
from other sets, however there are actually only two genuine ones for me and
two sort-of duplicates (this will depend on how many other sets you have).
However even if you do own past sets you can buy most of these brushes
individually, unlike with the Rose Gold ones.
The Concealer Buffer is included, as it is in the original
Rose Gold set, however I use mine every day and base brushes get very full of
product very quickly so I was pleased to have a backup. There’s also a Winged Liner brush, also found
in the Rose Gold set, however since re-discovering this to use with my Anastasia
Dipbrow Pomade, I like having another for gel or cream liner. There’s a semi-duplicate
in the Cream Cheek Brush as you get the Sheer Cheek in the Rose Gold set,
however that has natural bristles whereas this one is of course synthetic. I
never liked the Sheer Cheek as much as the other Rose Gold brushes as I find
natural bristles don’t distribute face products onto my combination skin as
easily as synthetic bristles, so this was a perfect addition for me. Finally,
the other semi-duplicate is the Face Paint brush as in the Rose Gold Volume 2
you get a natural-bristled version of this brush.
With the Bamboo set you not only get one of the Zoeva
pouches to carry them in (as with all the other sets) but a holder with it,
which I actually use to display these in on my dressing table. I’m a big fan of
these pouches as I travel a lot and they’re perfect for holding my brushes or
for overnight I can fit everything in them. They’re also really sturdy and good
quality. The one that comes with the bamboo set is a creamy-beige colour with
gold hardware. The brushes themselves are beautiful with eco bamboo handles
with an aluminium gold finish and faux natural-look bristles.
109 Face Paint* (not available individually)
I really like the natural bristle Face Paint brush from the
Rose Gold 2 set, however as I mentioned, I generally like synthetic brushes for
my face. The other benefit of this is that it can easily be used to blend out
cream products. The square shape of the bristles fits perfectly in the hollows
of my cheeks. I find that with powder products this applies them perfectly and
makes it so smooth and easy to blend out. However I’m loving this particularly
with my cream contouring stick from KIKO; it’s a dream pairing.
103 Defined Buffer* (not available individually)
I wasn't expecting to love this as much as I did (the slanted bristles are different to my usual base brushes) but this might be my #1 foundation for full coverage. It buffs in the product so seamlessly you get that flawless, perfect finish with minimal effort. I also feel like it makes fuller coverage foundation look more natural on the skin as opposed to sitting on it.

105 Highlight* | £11 individually
If I had to pick one brush from this set as my absolute
favourite then this would be this. I do still love my Sigma highlight but I’ve
been reaching for this the most lately. It seems to just pick up the perfect
amount of product so you’re getting the payoff but you’re not transformed into
a glitter ball after one swipe! I love dusting on powder highlighter with this
and blending it out, however it’s also great for blending cream formulas in for a really natural finish. I can
imagine this being lovely for a natural contour or even blusher too.
This brush is the perfect shape and size for applying
blusher and I love how easy it makes any formula to work with. I actually tend
to use this more with powder blusher, despite the name, as that’s what I go for
more often than not and I much prefer the synthetic bristles of this to the
Sheer Cheek brush which has the same shape. It’s also great for dotting on
cream blusher. Although I usually apply cream formulas with my fingers, has converted me. I either dot on the product with my finger and use this to blend it our or swirl this around in the product before gently dabbing it on. It gives an even, natural finish that I love.
142 Concealer Buffer* £7.50 individually
The Concealer Buffer from my original Rose Gold set has
become one of my most-used brushes, however the tightly-packed bristles meant
it needed washing a little more often than I have time to, so I was very
pleased to get my hands on a second. It is pretty much identical to the
original when used; I haven’t noticed any sort of difference. It has slightly
rounded bristles and the size makes it easy to get into places like around the
nose and in the corners of your eyes. It really does make your concealer blend
seamlessly into foundation so if you don’t own this, definitely get your hands
on it!
232 Classic Shader* (not available individually)
This is a fairly flat slightly domed brush. It works really well for applying a base colour across the lid. I also like it for applying a darker shade to the outer part of my eyelid.
227 Soft Definer* | £6.50 individually
The Rose Gold version of this is Holy Grail status for me, so how does this compare? The shape is exactly the same; very similar to MAC's 217 being a soft, slightly domed eye brush that works for applying a base colour, crease shade or blending everything out. Personally I prefer natural bristles on eye brushes but I still really like this and reach for it all the time. The synthetic bristles mean it's great for blending out any harsh edges.
317 Wing Liner* | £6 individually
This is another brush I'm already familiar with and I don't really see any difference between this and the ones I already have from the Rose Gold sets. It's a nice, small angled brush that I find perfect for applying my Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.

If you’re a vegan looking for brushes that are not only
incredible quality but also look stunning on your dressing table then look no
further. If you simply prefer synthetic bristles on the functional side but
struggle to find pretty ones, then again these were made for you. If you do own
some of the other sets then definitely check out the individual Bamboo brushes
as they’ve definitely added something new to my collection.
