We've experienced record-breaking temperatures here in the UK, so I can't blame anyone for not wanting to cake on their most indulgent cleansing balm at the end of the day. So, we're talking lightweight cleansers that can still cut through sunscreen and makeup without that thick feel on the skin...

- LIGHT MAKEUP -

I have two options that are great for if you're wearing light makeup, which I definitely have been in this heat (or was, when I was allowed out!) and they can actually be used as morning cleanses too. The first is the Laneige Cream Skin Milk-Oil Cleanser | £26.50. This is a super-light, almost watery milk formula (despite the name) with amino acids to hydrate and replenish the skin, and antioxidant rich white tea, alongside other beneficial ingredients like camellia extract and jojoba oil. I wouldn't expect it to tackle layers of super-waterproof mascara but it lifts sunscreen and light makeup, emulsifies easily and leaves my skin soft, smooth and hydrated after use.

The other is the Fresh Soy Face Cleanser* | £36 | full review. This is a water-based jelly cleanser that gives a very light lather when mixed with water. It's formulated with cucumber extract, amino acids and borage seed oil. It removes sweat, light makeup and sunscreen when paired with a damp cloth and feels really hydrating after use. Again, I wouldn't go in with this after a night out in full drag, but it's great as an everyday option that's flexible, if you're keen to streamline the number of products you have on the go.

- HEAVIER MAKEUP -

For heavier makeup, I have 3 different options with 3 different textures. I don't know how the Dr. Dennis Gross Hyaluronic Marine Meltaway Cleanser* | £30 | works so effectively whilst being a totally oil-free formula, but it does! You probably know what my makeup style is if you read my blog, but a good example of a 'fuller' face of makeup is my current profile image, just to let you know what I'm working with when I've been testing out these products. This is a lotion-cream-gel, if that makes any sense! A little more fluid but opaque and milky in its appearance. Antioxidant marine algae and hyaluronic acid (a water magnet) are in the mix and you can definitely use this as a morning cleanse to reap more of those benefits. This gives me clean, hydrated skin with no pulling or tugging.

Next, I have the Beauty Pie Japanfusion Pure Transforming Cleanser | £6.97 (£25 for non-members - get a new sign-up bonus with code JASMINESENTME (affiliate)) | full review. I almost chose the one from the Ordinary, but this is a bit lighter and less oil-based, with its creamy aerated texture. It does melt down but doesn't feel oily on the skin or heavy, however still melts and lifts makeup, then you emulsify and remove it. There's no excess left behind on the skin but takes off everything for me, without feeling at all stripping.

Finally, let's talk about the REN Perfect Canvas Clean Jelly Oil Cleanser* | £25 | full review. This is oil-based, I guess but it comes out as this thick, clear jelly. Massage it together in your hands and apply it to the skin. It lifts everything with no oily feeling after emulsifying and wiping your face clean. Despite the jelly texture, there are oils in here and I do find this the most heavy-duty for makeup, so it might be worth going for this if you like a full beat. It's still very light and not at all fussy!

What are your go-to cleansers that feel light but can still take the day off?
