I recently got a nice new work handbag from Kate Spade (the Cameron Street Jensen | £340 - I actually got it on sale so this Toasted Wheat colour is no longer available), which always inspires me to do some sort of 'what's in my bag' post. Today I'm talking you through the products I like to keep with me for a typical work day.
Makeup
I like to keep my makeup bits in a separate area so they don't make a mess on the inside of my bag and I like to use the Glossier Pink Pouches you receive with your order for free, which are waterproof and have a ziploc to secure everything. Obviously my base is one of the things that can disappear during the day, so I like to have a few things in my bag to touch up with - especially given the amount of impromptu after work drinking events that seem to go on! To refresh my foundation I use the Clinique Chubby in the Nude Stick Foundation (Grandest Golden Neutral) | £24 | review. It's a lovely product in itself but the stick makes it really easy to swipe on and quickly blend out with your fingers on those areas where your makeup wears off or in places you tend to touch your face. I accidentally missed it out from the photo (probably a good thing, given how messy it now looks...) but I always have the Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder Compact (55 Beige Fonce) | £8.99 | on hand. It's nothing overly heavy or cakey and doesn't leave the skin looking flat but does a good job of keeping the shine at bay - it's just a shame the shade range is so limited.
The Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom | £10 | is a great multi-use product. I usually apply it as a lip balm if I need a bit of moisture during the day, though it also works to nourish dry patches of skin. It isn't anything overly thick or shiny but always does the job. I also like to keep a universal lip colour in there, just in case I run out of time in the morning. I like to opt for the super-nourishing Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Balm in Honey | £19.50 | review | because it's a lovely sheer warm brown nude.
I also have my favourite Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner in Intense Black | £14.50. When I put it on in the morning, I know it'll last, however I don't necessarily wear winged liner to work everyday but if I'm heading out for dinner or drinks straight from the office, it's nice to add that in. This is just such an amazing formula - it's super-pigmented, doesn't smudge and you can be really precise with it.
Body
Obviously sanitiser is an essential, especially for city-dwellers, so I don't leave the house without one. My current go-to is the Soap & Glory Hand Maid Antibacterial Hand Cleansing Gel* | £2.50. It does the job without being sticky and comes in the refreshing Original Pink fragrance this brand is famous for. I also have a tube of my favourite hand cream - this is actually a limited edition rose scent, however the original has a nice grape fragrance. I love the Caudalie Hand & Nail Cream | £4 | because it gives lasting moisture whilst being lightweight and non-greasy. I also keep a fragrance in there and the Clean Reserve Citron Fig Travel Spray* | £39 (for x6) | is so nice and refreshing. It's a nice splash of sweet and zesty scent.
Hair
I don't know what I did before I discovered these but the Invisibobble* | £4.99 (for x3) | is now an indispensable part of my beauty routine. They allow you to tie your hair up without damaging it or leaving behind a kink - perfect for the days when you get caught in the rain on the way to the office... I also have an emergency Tangle Teezer Compact Styler* | £13.50. It's so small and handy that you can just throw it into your bag just in case - whether it's after having practically swam to work or post-gym, it just helps sort out messy hair. I still don't know how it does it but this brush gently detangles the hair with minimal effort. Finally, I keep a Batiste on the Go in Original | £1.50 | on standby. I'm not a huge user of dry shampoos because they can irritate my sensitive scalp, however I use this for adding a bit of volume and body. It's perfect for the end of the day when you're heading out somewhere straight from work and things have started to get a bit flat and limp.

I never tried a stick foundation before!

Ah I love your bag so much! It's pretty similar to what's in my mine, actually! x
ReplyDeleteThat's a good handbag stash. I usually have about a dozen different lip products, from balms to glosses and lipsticks - they somehow just accumulate in there! Pressed powder is a must, and mascara often find its way into my bag as well.
ReplyDeleteOoh that bag is so pretty. I just got my hands on a taupe bag with gold hardware which is a brand new colour for me but I can't wait to take it for a spin. The Bourjois powder is amazing and I am nearly coming to the end of one of mine so will need to replenish it soon xxx
ReplyDeleteLove the handbag, it's just so gorgeous! For me I ALWAYS have a hand sanitiser. Usually I don't have any makeup products but I do bring blotting sheets and I've just recently added the Rimmel Stay Matte powder into my essentials as well.

Cherries & Perfume
Your bag is stunning! Every time you mention the Clinique foundation, I want it so I should just buy it! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm one of those people who takes basically just my keys, phone and bank card with me when I leave the house... however, at this time of year, I find I'm always out with my Body Shop Hand Cream and my Nivea Lip Balm!

I love your bag's beauty contents, Jasmine! So many amazing products included <3 Glossier Coconut Balm Dotcom sounds lovely. I am probably the last person on this planet who has never tried Glossier (I know, shocker!). I couldn't agree more about bringing along an eyeliner. It's the best for when you are planning to meet with someone after work. Invisibobbles are amazing - such a must-have, as well as a mini Batiste. I use it for that extra oomph too :) Really enjoyed this post & catching up with your blog, lovely.

I love this! I always enjoy seeing what products others keep in their bags! I do not usually have much in my bag, a hand cream, lip balm and lipstick are generally in there along with keys, purse and phone! xx

I only have the basics of lip balm, rollerball perfume, and blotting sheets. Maybe a lipstick. The rest is like my wallet, glasses, portable juice charger, earbuds... :)

What a gorgeous bag! I've always wanted to get a Kate Spade bag. Hopefully one day I'll find one I like in the sale too!
ReplyDeleteIt's actually a great idea to have a mini dry shampoo in your bag, never thought about it before but it's amazing for long and days if you need to touch up your hair before an evening out, or even on trips!

I literally don't go anywhere without hand sanitizer haha! I absolutely love the soap and glory one, especially the scent of it! The Fresh sugar tinted balms are such a fab product to have on the go because they are lightweight and so quick and easy to apply xx

I've never carried much beauty products with me in my handbag. I don't know why I'm quite lazy with it. At best I'll carry a handcream and the lipstick I am wearing that day (though some days I even forget that). I definitely need to step up my game. Great post Jas.
