Autumn ColourPop Haul

When ColourPop did free international shipping, I wasn't going to mess around! Although their shipping service is very quick (my orders have never taken longer than a week to arrive) it gets seriously pricey if you order more than a couple of items. Obviously I had to take advantage of the huge saving and place an order. I spent over £15 on this (obviously!) so I knew I'd get a customs charge (this will always be £8, which is Royal Mail's handling fee + 20% of your order's value, even if you used a discount code and paid a little less) but I'd kind of factored it in and given the low cost of the products to begin with it really wasn't a big deal. However I thought I'd mention it as people don't seem to realise that customs (a tax you pay on all 'luxury' good you buy online or in-store) are completely different to shipping (the means by which the products get to you). I picked up quite a few products, mainly from their Autumn collection, so today I'm reviewing and swatching them for you.

Super Shock Shadows | $5 each

Overall I was way more impressed with the deeper shades I picked up over the lighter colours, however it's hard to be too disappointed when the products are so affordable! When you're paying $5 and buying online, you end up taking a punt on shades you're not 100% sure of and sometimes it doesn't work out. If you aren't familiar with the formula; these are cream eyeshadows with a really unusual mousse-like, spongy texture. I generally apply these with my finger but when it comes to the mattes, which need more precise application to the crease, a firm pointed synthetic brush works well. Overall I find they have amazing colour payoff and last incredibly well on my oily eyelids.

Paisley (Glitter Sheer) - Ok so it's kind of 'my bad' on this one, I guess I must've ordered in a rush and not read the description! This is just too sheer and glittery (haha) for me! It's very light and just doesn't have enough opacity and the large chunks of glitter are a bit too much for me. I have seen makeup looks which use a glitter effect on the inner corner so I might try that for a winter evening look with this white-gold colour. However this is far from my favourite ColourPop eyeshadow.

Jinxie (Pearlised Finish) - This is much more up my street! After LOVING Sunset Blvd, which is in the same finish, I though that Jixie could have a similar place in my makeup collection. It's a little warmer and more beige in its shade of nude-gold (though the two are similar enough that you might not require both). It's a gorgeous wash of colour across the lid on its own or paired with a deeper crease colour (like an autumnal plum shade).

Lovely (Metallic) - This was a bit 'meh' and also arrived damaged! It definitely has more payoff than Paisley and it does have a nice rose gold colour but I'm not sure if it's a bit cool and silvery in tone for me. I do quite like the Metallic finish overall though because it has a dewy wet-look shimmer.

Amaze (Metallic) - This is also a rose gold shade but is a little deeper and has less obvious glitter in it than Lovely. I definitely prefer this of the two and I think I will use this a lot as a lid colour.

Kathleenlights (Pearlised) - I don't know how I haven't picked this up before; it's just so 'me'! This is a beautiful warm gold shade (with almost orange undertones) in my favourite finish. It has a liquid-metal finish that looks beautiful on the lids. I love pairing this with a plum matte crease shade to really make it pop.

Muse (Pearlised) - I have fallen in love with this shade! The Pearlised finish is my favourite by far and I love how this looks on the lids. It's described as a 'coppery rose' on the website, which I can agree with. It's so autumnal and looks amazing all over the lids or on the outer corner.

Brady (Matte) - I must admit I tend to go for the shimmer shades because I can just pat them on the centre of my eyelids for an instant 'wow' effect. However this is one of the mattes I ordered. It's a sort of dusky rose-taupe shade that works really well in the crease with a colour like Muse.

Seeker (Matte) - This is from the same set as Jinxie but I didn't order the quad because the other two shades were similar to some I already have, however I'd recommend checking that out if you like the look of both these colours. This is a beautiful, very warm-toned matte brown that I love using to deepen the crease a little.

Ultra Satin Lips | $6 each

These are probably my all-time favourite liquid lipsticks formula-wise. Bold statement, I know! They look and apply like a matte liquid lip but feel like a normal lipstick. They're still so long-wearing, though don't dry down to a completely matte finish. However I find them incredibly comfortable and they don't emphasise imperfections on the lips. All for $6! My only negative is that they've recently changed the applicator from a standard doe-foot (which works best with this kind of formula) to this weird fluffy thing! I think it's because they are made in the same factory as the Kylie Lip Kits and they changed the wand because supposedly this fluffy thing works better with a metallic liquid lip, however for me it just makes things a lot messier. I've taken a comparison shot with the original applicator on  the left and the new one on the right:

Echo Park - This is a repurchase because it's one of my all-time favourite lip colours. It's just a gorgeous peachy-brown nude that really seems to pop against my skin tone. I love it paired with a smoky eye or just as an everyday shade I can wear to work.

Calypso - There was a bit of a drama around this shade! It was unwisely named 'Gypsy' originally and I ordered it, then also ordered Calypso because the website made it seem like they were two different shades and they didn't put on the product page that it had been re-named! Therefore I ended up with two of these (both of which say 'Gypsy' on the label anyway!) It's lucky that I absolutely love this pinky-rose nude shade because now it's just like I've got a backup.

Baracuda - This is quite a deep, rosy-plum tone that I think will be perfect for an evening look, though I haven't had a chance to wear it yet.

  10. yes to baraccuda, what a beautiful shade! I have to agree the liquid lipsticks are amazing, I found them originally quite difficult to use because the consistency was more watery than expected! Brady is a shade next on my list! I really hope they do another international free delivery because I need more colourpop! xx

    1. It says to allow 20 days however mine have always showed up far quicker than that - I wouldn't worry there's probably just a lot of orders for them to process due to the free international shipping xx

  18. Lovely shades Jasmine. Always love ur picks..like u said..custom is the tax u pay if u buy a luxury item..this is very unfortunate that we need to pay taxes on drugstore items from the US. The custom and the Royal mail handling fee kills me and thats the reason i didn't take advantage of the free shipping! These products seem to reach the cost of high end products imo. Anyways, this beauty addiction is real! The liquid lipsticks look fabulous..I am glad u picked Kathleen Lights eyeshadow as well. I love that!

    1. 'Luxury' just means 'not a necessity' - we've only just made it so that tampons don't include this tax, believe it or not! The customs are a small amount - it's just the flat rate handling fee that annoys me because it doesn't matter if your customs fee is only a couple of pounds, the handling is £8 no matter what :( xx

I hadn't tried the Ultra satins before, but I don't like the applicator, I would have preferred the original. I need echo park and barracuda, they look right up me street. Kathleen lights is one of my favourite shades. I love the look Muse too. xx

  24. Absolutely LOVE the eyeshadow "muse", i'm a big colourpop eyeshadow fan and this one I don't own yet so i'm going to have to purchase this while they still have international shipping. I own two Satin lips and they are my favourite lip product at the moment. Wasn't impressed by the matte liquid lipsticks but the satin ones are amazing.
Excellent reviews, I can spot a number of things I will purchase now.

  30. Oh gosh, the hade KathleenLights is stunning and has my name all over it! The only reason why I refuse to place an order for ColorPop is the crazy duty/tax that comes with it, it makes the whole purchase really pricey.
