The Jasmine Talks Beauty Top Shelf Products

I really love these kind of ‘in the bathroom’/’top shelf products’ features (check out Sali Hughes’ Youtube series and of course Into the Gloss); maybe I’m just nosey! It’s been a long while since I’ve done anything like this so I thought I’d take you through the non-makeup beauty products that always have a space on the top shelf in my bathroom.

Haircare

Philip B White Truffle Shampoo* | £59 | Ok, I know this is extortionate and I will be tightening my belt a lot over the next year but in the very least I can enjoy this whilst it lasts! You only need a very small amount so this bottle really does go a long way and this shampoo just leaves my hair looking so much more shiny and healthy!

Hair is Fabric Hydration Support Cleansing Conditioner* | £25 | I can’t always be bothered faffing around with treatments and hair masks and on those days; I reach for this. Hair is Fabric is a Deciem brand whose entire ethos is that you should treat your hair as well as you treat expensive clothing and I for one would like to think that my hair is handmade French lace, not a machine-washable polyester jacket (ha!) It has a clear, gel-like texture so looks like a shampoo but doesn’t really foam up when you work it into your hair. You just leave for a few minutes and rinse. It’s perfect if you have dry hair but don’t want to use anything too heavy or greasy. It makes my hair look healthy and gives it some moisture without being at all thick in texture. Although my hair looks nice and fresh, it doesn’t give that ‘squeaky clean’ feel, which I kind of like because it means my hair is a little less fluffy on Day 1. Think of it like an alternative to co-washing if you can’t bear to go without shampoo. I went away for a few days last month and when I came back there was a second tube of this in the bathroom - my mum had stolen some whilst I wasn't there and had already been out and bought her own! I think that pretty much says it all about how good this stuff is...

The Wet Brush (Midi) | £8.99 | To stop my hair being a tangled mess and to make sure I can pat it dry properly, I do prefer to brush it through when it’s wet. Because hair is more prone to snapping when it’s wet, this can damage your hair however the Wet Brush is specially-designed to glide through the hair without tugging or snagging. I don’t know how but this de-tangles my wet hair without pulling on it at all!

Body Care

L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil | £18 | This is pretty much my favourite during the winter months when my skin gets unbearably dry. It's an oil formula of course and emulsifies when you wet it into a milk. It smells beautiful and really nourishes my skin.

Laura Mercier Creme Brûlée Body Wash | £31 | I know this is reeeeally expensive but it was a gift, and one that I cherish! Whenever I want to pamper myself after a rubbish day or just really want to treat myself then this is what I reach for. It has the most luxurious, foaming texture that leaves my skin feeling incredibly soft. It has a rich, deep creme brûlée scent that clings to the skin like a perfume.

Soap & Glory Whipped Clean Shower Butter | £7 | I must be on about my 5th tube of this stuff! It's one of those bargain products that feels very luxurious on the skin. It has this sort of cream formula but does foam up quite a lot. I find it amazing to use to shave my legs but it's also just a really nice body wash when you're skin is feeling dry (it's packed full of shea butter, almond oil and cocoa butter, just to name a few). The pistachio, almond and vanilla scent is heavenly too!

Soap & Glory Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub | £8 | This is from the same range as Whipped Clean but the scent reminds me of banana, oats and pancakes - yum! The scrub itself isn't too rough (you aren't sandpapering your skin!) but never fails to leave my skin feeling super-smooth.

Nuxe Huile Prodigeuse Multi Useage Dry Oil | £17 | Summer was a love affair with this shimmer version of this but now I'm reaching for the original. The pro of this is that you can use it not only on your body but your hair unlike the shimmer version (unless you're into shimmery hair - no judgement here). A tiny bit of this on the ends of my hair when it's wet keeps things hydrated and using it on dry hair when styling makes sure things look nice and smooth. However the main reason I like this oil is for the super-dry skin on my body! It just makes my skin feel so smooth and supple. Whilst I wouldn't say it's a really lightweight oil, it doesn't feel too heavy or suffocating either and the fact it's a dry oil means it isn't greasy. I absolutely love the scent of this (so much so I bought it in perfume form!)

Soap & Glory Endless Glove 2 in 1 Moisture Mask & Hand Cream | £2.50 (mini) | I'm trying not to panic but I think this has been discontinued! At least in its full-size form, so I've linked the £2.50 mini which is still in stock. Anyway, this is a beautiful hand cream that isn't at all thick or greasy but has the most hydrating formula and a lovely fruity-floral scent. I apply this before bed and it always leaves my hands soft and nourished by morning.

Skincare

Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm | £38 | Have you ever tried am expensive product and almost willed it to be rubbish so you could declare it wasn't worth the money? Well I really didn't want this to be worth the hype or expense however it was everything I'd heard it was and more. Now I'm committed for the rest of my life to spending this much on a cleanser because I can't not have this on my bathroom shelf! Ok let's take a few steps back; this is an oil-based cleansing balm that just smells incredible and does an amazing job of removing all of my makeup without stinging my eyes. When I wash my face clean it doesn't leave behind any grease or residue either. The texture is beautiful and feels like such a treat for my skin. Whilst there are other products that do a similar job, there's just something extra-special about this cleanser.

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Reverse Pump | £19 | I've tried other micellar waters but for me, nothing quite lives up to Bioderma and as a result I've repurchased this over and over again! I recently discovered this pump version which is so handy because you just flip the lid, grab a cotton wool pad and press it down on the pump then you're good to go. I tend to use an oil-based cleanser then go over my face with this to ensure every single scrap is gone, especially around my eyes. It really is as gentle as water on my sensitive eyes yet is still so effective at removing makeup. I also don't feel like I have to use loads of this for it to be effective.

Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel | £29.50 | Overrated? Yes. Overpriced? Absolutely. However I can't quite seem to stop myself using it and there's always a discount code or some reward points that allow me to justify re-purchasing it! The formula and the pump packaging make this the perfect 'busy weekday morning' cleanse. I splash my face with water in the shower, pat it dry when I get out and then apply this. I find this to be the best way to use it; I massage two pumps across my skin whilst it's dry but still has a bit of moisture in it. The gel formula glides across the skin and feels so luxurious. I then rinse it off and it emulsifies so breaks down easily. It always leaves my skin feeling clean but not stripped and gives it that little boost of healthy glow. If I can find something similar for less, I will be jumping ship but to date I haven't managed to!

REN Clearcalm3 Clarifying Clay Cleanser | £19 | I've been using this cleanser every single evening for over a year and the love affair doesn't seem like it's coming to an end any time soon! I love the functional packaging; the pump is hygienic and makes sure you get every last bit of the product out, plus the clear outer shell means you can see when you're running low on it. Onto the product itself; it has the most beautiful texture that I love taking my time to massage into my skin. What I love about this is that whilst it's amazing at keeping my skin clear, it doesn't give it a squeaky clean or stripped feeling. Whilst excess oils are gone, my skin still feels nice and soft.

Pixi Glow Tonic | £18 | Of course my favourite AHA-based toner was always going to be on this list! This is gentle enough to use every other day and keeps things exfoliated, allowing healthy, glowing skin to shine through.

The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Clay Mask | £10 | This is the once face mask that is guaranteed to clear up a minor spots completely or seriously reduce the appearance of major breakouts by the next morning if I use it in the evening. It feels pretty intense and smells strongly of tea tree but when my skin is a mess and I need it to look clear, fast, I know I can trust this to do the job.

Trilogy Certified 100% Organic Rosehip Oil | £19.50 | Sadly this has gone up in price, however I still do really think it's great value. This lightweight oil is my #1 overnight treatment in the winter because it nourishes my drier skin without suffocating it. Although I don't tend to use it when I have a lot of active breakouts, I do use it when they've reduced down to red marks that might scar and it helps clear that up more quickly. Overall my skin looks so much healthier and more glowing when I use this product.

Miscellaneous

Neom Happiness Candle | £30 | This is my favourite relaxing, pamper-time candle. It smells of white neroli, mimosa and lemon, which is just a really nice, uplifting fragrance that fills the room without being overbearing.

Diptyque Oyedo Eau de Toilette | £75 (100ml) | I thought it would be hard to choose a fragrance but when I was planning this post I instinctively picked this one up because it really is a beautiful, unique scent. I'm sure it won't be for everyone but to me it's such an interesting, complex fragrance. It has some woody notes due to the cedar but it's quite an uplifting citric, fresh, fruity scent.

Clarins Comfort Light Lip Oil in Red Berry* | £19 | This is such a beautiful lip oil that leaves my lips feeling nice and nourished whilst giving them a non-sticky gloss. The shade is extremely subtle but just adds a little wash of rosy red.

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm | £9.50 | This is by far my favourite lip balm to use overnight; I pretty much never have to use a lip scrub these days and it's all because this is so nourishing! I use it every night so my lips don't even get a chance to chap! It has quite a thick formula (which is why I use it before bed) and never fails to leave my lips soft and nourished.

The Body Shop Comforting Milk Bath Float | £14 | Sadly this has been discontinued in the UK and I'm running out however in my denial I'm just going to keep talking about it until they bring it back! It's the most beautiful, relaxing bubble bath that smells of jojoba, milk and camomile.

  6. I can always trust you'll provide some similar-taste items to go on my wishlist! Love the scent of that S&G scrub, I think it smells a bit like maple syrup too which is divine. Going to look into the Deciem conditioner, sounds great for my hair as I hate it being weighed down. I wish they did the reverse pump on Hydrabio! Loved reading lovely!

  14. With new release of TBS mask, I wanted to try them but at the same time, I'm reluctant because I had bad experience with them before (too harsh for my skin). I wish the new one is not only repackahed, but also reformulated.

  15. Oh my goodness sooo many good products here. I'm with you on the L'Occitane Almond Shower Oil, it smells soo good and leaves my skin feeling so soft! I've been using the mini deluxe sample size for a while now but I know I'll be buying the full size come VIB sale time. Pixi Glow Tonic is a must and it pairs so well with Sunday Riley Luna! The First Aid Beauty facial cleanser has been my go to face wash for years and aside from the Glossier Milky Jelly, I haven't used much else. The Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask is a new addition and one that I will never part ways with.

  16. Oooh I loooove so so so many products you've listed! Yes to Trilogy Rosehip! Absolutely loving it so much, this brand has won me over with every product I try. Sad it's gone up in price though! I don't know if it also has in US dollars here but always dislike that. Oskia cleansing gel is deffo overrated and I didn't use mine enough so it expired before I could use it up! Such a waste of money :( Wanna try that Emma Hardie balm someday, sounds so delish!
