This month's favourites are coming slightly early, as it's actually my birthday on the 1st of June so I felt that would be the perfect time to do a little bit of a 'reflection' post. So keep an eye out for that and today we have my beauty favourites for this month.
Zoeva Rose Golden Volume 3 Luxury Brush Set* | £75 | post
I'm still not over the beauty of these! Zoeva are my favourite brush brand, producing better-quality brushes than companies charging twice as much. This set is beyond stunning and it has just about everything you need. I think my favourite brushes are the 103 Defined Buffer (as it gives such a flawless finish with a full-coverage foundation), 109 Face Paint Vegan (for blending out cream contour products) the 234 Luxe Smoky Shader (to pat on a darker shade for a smoky eye look) and the 142 Concealer Buffer (an old favourite as it really blends my concealer into my foundation and the shape means you can get into all the awkward places).

Urban Decay Naked Skin One and Done Hybrid Complexion Cream | £25
I was not expecting to love this like I do, but wow! It gives so much more coverage than I expected and can be built to a good light-medium finish. It's not dewy but it's not too matte either; it's a sort of healthy, satin finish. It gives a perfected look to the skin and doesn't settle into pores or fine lines or cling to any dry patches. Best of all; it last me all day! Keep an eye out for my comparison between this and the Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint coming very soon...

Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder | £11.95
When a beauty product is so hyped up and everyone is talking about it, everywhere seems to sell out and you kind of get put off a bit then eventually forget about it (or maybe that's just me...) Well this was pretty much the story with me and the Ben Nye Banana Powder. However earlier this month I randomly stumbled upon it and decided it was time. I can tell you I wasn't disappointed; this is such a great setting powder. It's so finely-milled that it's virtually traceless on the skin. It sets my makeup in place so that not even my under eye concealer (which is always my #1 issue!) budges during the day. The Banana shade is very slightly highlighting on me, though they do a range of shades to suit different colourings so don't feel like it's the only option (Banana is the popular one because of Kim Kardashian, so it's most likely to suit people who have light-medium to dark-medium skin tones). I wouldn't say it's overly mattifying but it does take away the shine to. I personally like to apply it with a damp BeautyBlender.

I'd been after a matte blusher/bronzer 2-in-1 for a while when this was released. It was exactly the sort of shade I was after and being a big fan of KIKO's Limited Edition collections, I snapped it up right away. The pattern isn't a spray-over so you are actually getting the lighter peachy shade and the deeper biscuit colour which you can use individually or swirl together. It's really pigmented and has a completely matte finish. It's that perfect balance between being defining and having some colour to it. It's long-wearing and applies evenly to my skin.
I'm such a fan of the ColourPop cream blusher formula as it's so mousse-like and has a fairly matte, non-greasy finish that lasts really well on my cheeks. Flush'd is that perfect Summer coral shade with a subtle golden sheen running through it.
Another cream product I've been loving is this contour stick from Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's M&S collection. I isn't overly dewy or greasy but certainly has a more typical cream formula than ColourPop's offerings. I just dot this across the hollows of my cheek (it's pigmented but nothing too over the top) and blend it out with a synthetic contour brush. It applies so smoothly and evenly with minimal effort and doesn't go patchy or fade much during the day.
Makeup Geek Eyeshadow Pans in Wild West, Brownie Points, Americano & Cherry Cola | £4.95 each | post
My love for Makeup Geek is well-documented! This month I discovered four amazing matte shades; two of which are new releases and two of which are new to my personal collection. I just find their matte formula to be so creamy and easy to work with, as well as very long-lasting and pigmented. The latest releases: Wild West (a dusty rose) and Brownie Points (a charcoal-taupe) are a little more sheer but I still really like them as crease colours. Americano (a deep cool-toned brown with reddish-purple undertones) and Cherry Cola (a muted deep purple with cool brown undertones) both have insane pigmentation and are really wearable ways to add a little bit of colour to your everyday eye look.
I've tried this formula before but this shade is just another level of love! It's so pigmented, doesn't flake, is insanely long-wearing and has a completely matte finish but stays that tiny bit tacky, stopping it from being drying. The shade itself is this gorgeous, very warm-toned brown nude. It's actually what I'm wearing in my profile image too!
It's clearly been a great month for liquid lipsticks at JTB HQ (ha!) This was an absolute nightmare to get hold of; genuinely a case of refreshing a web page every 30 seconds all morning because it sells out in a couple of minutes. I'm so glad it was worth the hype and all the aggro! It's one of the least drying formulas I've tried and whilst it does transfer a little, it does still have that longevity. The shade is so unique and really quite hard to describe; on the one hand it's sort of a very warm brown-nude but on the other it's kind of a pinky-red tone. It has amazing colour payoff and is just so striking and unique. If you're a nude-lip-lover who wants to try something a little different then I can't recommend this enough.
I really wasn't sure what to make of Barry M's new Coconut Infusion nail polishes however decided to pick up this shade in a 3 for 2 and you know what: it's pretty good! It's so opaque, which is what probably impressed me the most, as I've never been good with just one coat of such a light shade before. It's that perfect beige-toned nude for me and is great for this time of year (especially when I have a tan, I think). It also gives me a good few days of wear before chipping.
I really wasn't sure what to expect from this as I've tended to associate leave-in conditioner products with making my hair feel heavy, greasy or sticky with product. However this is just amazing. It has a gorgeous fruity and floral scent and such a light texture. It leaves my hair looking and feeling so much more healthy whilst also being traceless in terms of residue.
Nuxe Prodigieux Eau de Parfum | £43.50 | post
I think this is going to be my perfect Summer scent because it just transports me to being on a beach, cocktail in hand, thinking 'this is the life'... The fragrance is unlike anything I've ever tried and even describing the notes (Orange Blossom, Bergamot, Tangerine, Coconut Milk and more) doesn't quite pin it down. Boots actually stock this so I definitely recommend having a spritz of it next time you're in store, because it really is special. It's such a deep, sensual fragrance that lingers on the skin for hours.

Nice picks Jasmine. I have ordered colourpop Flush'd blush. The Kiko blush bronzer from Artist collection sounds nice..I have only used baked blush bronzer combos. A 2 in 1 product is handy for travels. I am looking forward to the comparison post of UD and Nars.

I just fell in love with your blog, such a good imagery and really good information!
ReplyDeleteI'm really interested in those eyeshadows, mine is almost over (and it's more darker than I had in my mind before I bought it) and those colours are so pretty... what size are they? (just asking because they are pretty cheap)
http://coffeeatpradas.blogspot.com
It's just a standard eyeshadow pan size - not sure how else to describe it haha. They're marginally larger than MAC's maybe the website I linked above has the weight of them or something xx
