Autumn Beauty Edit

Autumn is kind of my season when it comes to makeup, food, drink, fashion… Just about everything except the cold and dark nights! I decided that I’d share my absolute must-haves in this post but I will also be posting on my Autumn Lip, Eye and Cheek picks in their own posts with the products I think are perfect for this time of year but there are a bit too many of to cram in this post. Keep an eye out for those over the coming weeks but now, without further ado, it’s time for my Autumn Beauty Edit!

Makeup

I don’t switch up every single aspect of my makeup routine for Autumn but there’s a fairly big shift from Summer to Autumn. For my base I tend to go for more coverage and a less dewy finish and in terms of colour it’s all about bronze, rosy, mauve and neutral shades.

For Autumn I really love a satin finish foundation that’s not completely matte and full coverage but it a little heavier than what I’d wear during summer. Nars Sheer Glow fits the bill perfectly! It allows a bit of glow but one that’s completely free of shine and it’s a nice medium coverage that’s very easy to build on.

This is pretty much the perfect pairing with the Sheer Glow foundation. I don’t use it under the eyes so much but it’s incredible coverage for any blemishes to get a flawless base.

Sorry to be that person to post about a limited edition product which is sold out but these went so ridiculously quickly, I didn’t even have a chance to post on it and in all honesty this is what I’m using. In summer I often go for a dewy or cream formula, but in Autumn I like the keep the glow but go for something a little more subtle. This has a golden metallic sheen that’s not glittery or sparkly at all so it just gives the high points of the face a natural radiance.

I’m sure regular readers wish I’d shut up about this but I WILL NOT! This has the most beautiful texture that applies evenly in seconds and actually lasts on my weird patchy skin. I love the ‘glow from within’ look it gives as it really brings my face to life and the gorgeous plummy-mauve shade is beautiful for Autumn.

I really need to stop thinking of this as an evening-only palette and get using this more. It’s honestly one of the most gorgeous palettes I own and just look at it; it screams Autumn. You get a gorgeous sheeny champagne shade (Prime), a fantastic deep red (Enhance), a proper gold glitter (Pop) and a grey-brown shade (Smoke). I tend to use Prime across the lid, Enhance in the crease, Smoke in the outer v then if I’m feeling crazy I’ll pat Pop on the centre of my lid with my finger.

Ok, I definitely wear this incessantly no matter what the season but the deep golden-bronze shimmer seems especially perfect for the season of crunchy leaves. I love how creamy yet long-lasting the formula of these is and this is amazing just along the lower waterline.

This is one of my all-time favourite lip colours and lipstick formulas so I had to mention Bond Girl in my Autumn Beauty Edit. It’s a gorgeous rosy-mauve shade and the formula of these is amazing; it just glides on and isn’t drying in the slightest, so perfect if you suffer with sore lips in colder weather.

Skin, Body etc.

As Autumn is a transitional season, I don’t do a full overhaul just yet, however there are a few little parts of my routine I like to change as the cold begins to set in. If you’d like to read more about Autumn/Winter skincare in general then keep an eye out for my whole post dedicated to it coming up on Sunday (which is why I won’t go on about it too much here).

As I said, I will post a full review on this shortly but I’m loving this already! I have combination skin but it definitely gets more sensitive in the colder months, especially around my nose area. The reason I like this so much is because it’s such a light lotion-like formula that doesn’t feel heavy or rich in the slightest. I can just apply this to the areas my skin is feeling flaky or sensitive and it instantly soothes it as well as providing lasting moisture.

I’m so glad I gave into the hype on this product! I can tell this is going to be staple right through winter too for me but at the moment I love applying this overnight and it keeps my lips feeling nourished and soft without the need for a lip scrub (until it gets colder, at least!)

Soap & Glory Rich and Foamous Body Wash | £6.50

This is definitely my favourite Soap and Glory scent (along with Whipped Clean), it just seems to be a bit tricky to find! I recently managed to get a fresh bottle and I'm already loving it for this time of year. The almond, oat and brown sugar scent is so sweet, yummy and homely.

Laura Mercier Eau Gourmande Creme de Pistache | £42.50

No one really seems to talk about Laura Mercier fragrances but I've been a fan of this indulgent, pistachio-infused scent for a long time. The warm, sweet, deep aroma is just perfect for Autumn.

I knew I was going to love this from the moment I read the name! It’s a gorgeous deep grey-purple-mushroom shade that’s perfect if you want to try something darker but not a full on deep red, purple or black. It definitely doesn’t last as long as it claims but given it’s very opaque and dries relatively quickly, I don’t mind too much.

This has been my go-to shade pretty much since I picked it up in Spring but there’s something Autumnal about this sorts of ‘greige’ shades. I may wear a vampy or glittery shade for the evening at this time of year but for something more wearable I always go for these lilac-grey tones.

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Mustard | £3.99

I picked this one up last year and I can see myself wearing it a lot again this Autumn. I love the gel-look finish of these and the mustard shade is gorgeous.

So there you have my Autumn beauty picks - make sure you stay tuned for a closer look at my lip, cheek and eye picks.

What are your Autumn favourites?

  10. Love the Bond Girl shade - perfect for my colouring.

Love the nail polish colours you picked - I never wear orange-y tones normally, but I bought Cinnamon from Crabtree and Evelyn (glittery orange copper) on a whim and it looked surprisingly nice. I think mustard would work the same way!

I love the CT Dolce Vita palette & like you I am also trying to use more during the day because the shades are perfect for this time of the year. That ABH highlighter is so pretty and I did see it when it wasn't sold out but I have so many new highlighters that I just couldn't justify spending any more.
