For People Who 'Don't Do Colour' | Zoeva Cocoa Blend Eyeshadow Palette

Zoeva make what have to be my favourite makeup brushes (check out my posts on the Rose Golden sets here and here) but until now I'd never tried their makeup. I'd heard quite a bit of buzz around the Cocoa Blend Palette | £15.50 over Summer but I thought it would be perfect for Autumn so I snapped it up!

Zoeva ships to the UK an in my experience it has always been quick, easy and affordable. The palette is also stocked on Beauty Bay here (where I purchased mine) but is often sold out.

The packaging is cardboard but very sleek and travel-friendly with a magnetic closure. There's a nice mix of matte and shimmer shades, as well as of neutral and bright colours. The overall quality is excellent! The shimmers are great but for me it's all about the matte shades, as so many brands find it hard to get them right.

Bitter Start is your standard matte off-white base shade, which often find under-pigmented but there were no such issues here. The bizarrely-named Beans Are White is another staple; the matte black. Again I was astounded by the quality, even with high-end palettes I often find these shades a little bit hard to work with. However Beans Are White has the most amazing texture! Substitute for Love is a gorgeous caramel-brown transition shade that is again dreamy to apply. Freshly Toasted is a warm brown-red colour that's perfect for the outer 'v' of the lid or for deepening the crease. I didn't find the texture quite as good as the other mattes but it's still very nice. If Zoeva ever do an all-matte palette I will be the first on the waiting list!

Sweeter End is a pretty neutral, slightly pink-toned highlighting shimmer I use on the inner corner (it does have a little bit of fallout though). Warm Notes is one of my absolute favourites from the palette; it's a deep pink shimmer that's really pretty in the crease if you're new to wearing colour like me. Subtle Blend is a bit more of a standard 'Jasmine shade'; a brown-gold-bronze that's lovely on the outer part of the lid. Pure Ganache is a stunning bright gold highlight. Infusion is the one shade I really don't reach for, though the texture is good for this kind of glittery formula. It has a black base with an iridescent glitter running through it. Finally we have Delicate Acidity, a purple shimmer that's really nice on the lower lash line.

The texture of these is amazing and it makes them effortless to work with. The pigmentation is impressive, there is minimal fallout and I find they wear really well throughout the day. The mattes especially are really something special. You can go for both a very natural, neutral look or something a little more colourful. For me it was the perfect way to gently introduce a few brights into my eyeshadow look and I really like it!

Have you tried Zoeva makeup before? What did you think of it?

  13. I've been drooling over this palette for months now. Warm Notes is so stunning to me and the star of the show - but it's nice to know that the mattes are also very good. Ugh. One day I'll suck up the shipping and duty and place a Zoeva order. :-)

  15. oh gosh, substitute for love and freshly toasted look divine. I do very minimal eye makeup so I'm not a huge palette person, but I've been seeing praises for this product everywhere so I might have to check into it!

  20. I am a dedicated neutral girl but recently have been admiring a few colourful shades after seeing it on a few blogs. I do like the looks of this palette, you're right, it's a good way to introduce colours. I'll need to check what website is best for me to purchase, shipping fees to Canada is always high.
