A UK Lorac Unzipped Dupe? | Makeup Revolution Naked Chocolate

For about a year I lusted after the Lorac Unzipped Palette (£28, full review here)! I finally got my hands on it however after closer inspection it seems I already had something very similar in my stash in the form of Makeup Revolution's Naked Chocolate (£7.99, full review here).

First things first: the packaging. The Lorac Unzipped comes in a cardboard packaging which I personally do not care for at all. The Makeup Revolution palette is mocked up to look like a white chocolate bar and is much sturdier and secure. However, I'm more concerned about what's on the inside...

Lorac 1 - Undercover, MUR 1 - Smoothly, Lorac 2 -Unbelievable, MUR 2 - Divine, Lorac 3 - Unattainable, MUR 3 -  Mocha Lover, Lorac 4 - Unconditional, MUR 4 - Milky. Lorac 5 - Unbridled, MUR 5 - Choc-Fest

Unlike the other dupe palettes from Makeup Revolution this isn't a shade-by-shade replication as you actually get a few more shades in the Naked Chocolate, however the shade that do match up look veeery similar. There was only one shade in the Lorac Unzipped I couldn't find an equivalent to which was Unreal. In my opinion that's the least remarkable shade in the Lorac palette anyway, however it's worth noting.

Lorac 6 - Undiscovered, MUR 6 - Double Dip, Lorac 7 - Unreal, MUR 7 - Adorable, Lorac 8 - Uncensored, MUR 8 - Frosted Choc, Lorac 9 - Unspoken, MUR 9 - Sweet Shop, Lorac 9 - Untamed, MUR 9 - Suger

The quality of Lorac eyeshadows is second to very few, however Makeup Revolution's offering really isn't a bad alternative. The Unzipped shades are beyond buttery and so intensely pigmented, also lasting on my eyelids far longer than 99% of the eyeshadows I own. The Makeup Revolution palette isn't quite as gorgeous to work with, however the quality is still really good, with the shades having good colour pay-off as well as a lovely texture. I do find however that the shades from the Naked Chocolate don't last quite so well throughout the day. Don't get me wrong; the Naked Chocolate palette is one of (if not the) best quality palette I've tried at this price point, however Lorac is just another level.

All in all the products are definitely comparable and I use every single shade in both of them; the coppers, roses, golds and warm browns just do it for me! If you really want to own a Lorac palette or you think you will get so much use out of the shades you'd rather invest in the superior quality then go for the Unzipped. I really didn't find it any trouble to order it through Amazon US and it arrived without any additional duties less than two weeks later (though postae and tax bumped the price up by £10). However if you'd rather save your money or don't feel comfortable ordering from abroad then the Naked Chocolate is a really nice alternative. Plus you get a few extra shades in it!

Do you have your eye on the Unzipped palette or do you think you'll get Naked Chocolate instead?

  1. Its is so similar, great dupe for those who dont want to spend the money.

  2. Ahah, they really are very similar. I tend to want originals (because i'm a fussy shit) and very rarely get dupes unless they're pretty great. This one looks like a strong competitor for the Lorac one though!

    1. The shades are very similar but if you want that next-level quality I'd go for Lorac! xx

  3. Wow, these are incredibly similar! I would probably still buy the Lorac one, but it's so great to have a cheaper alternative!

  5. I don't have either in my collection but I think if I was going to get one then it would be the MUR as the colours are almost the same and the packaging is a little nicer :)

  6. They are definitely comparable but I would still buy the Lorac one as the shades look nicer and I can imagine the quality is much higher. x

  7. It's relieving to read posts about makeup alternatives. Why invest on a pricey brand when there's another cheaper one but is as competitive as the pricey one, right?

  8. Ah these look amazing! Still tempted to go for the Lorac one though because I just love the quality of their eyeshadows. I find most of the Makeup Revolution ones too powdery.

  10. Definitley an amazing dupe :)
Palette looks great with such a nice range of shades.
The swatches really show the similarity between the two and its obviously a better option getting the Makeup Revolution one as its hard to get hold of Lorac products here in the UK.

Thanks for sharing, Hope you have a lovely day ♥

  13. I love reading your dupe posts, Jasmine. I must admit though, Lorac are so much more lust worthy, based entirely on the fact they're not readily available in the UK! xx

  15. Since I have enough drugstore/affordable palettes, I think I'd rather buy the Lorac one as it'll be more worth it instead of buying more cheap palettes with average qualities though the shades are quite similar. Thanks for the comparison! :)

  18. Oh that Lorac palette looks so dreamy - I may just have to treat myself! It's so handy to see the swatches side by side - although the colours are very similar, the Lorac palette looks a lot better in terms of pigmentation and finish. Thanks for sharing :)

  20. I love the look of the Naked Chocolate palette and it is so much cheaper. I'm not really a big eye shadow wearer so there are other make up products I'd prefer to invest in, so if there's a viable alternative to the more expensive palettes I'll always snap it up!

  21. I must be the only one in the beauty world who hasn't tried Lorac palette but it's good to know that MUR has a great dupe for this. Not sure if I'll ever splurge on Lorac, I think I might pick up MUR palette instead because it's a great budget alternative.

  24. I cannot believe how similar the shades are! I swear Make up revolution always do dupes for all the palettes, so cheeky haha! I love reading dupes posts, so interesting how something can be so similar and so different in price.

  25. I'm pretty sure I'd go for the Makeup Revolution offering because although the quality's not as good, I'm someone who chops and changes their eyeshadow so much I wouldn't need it to be perfect - I wouldn't get enough use out of the Lorac one to justify the price. Really great post - I love how you can instantly see differences and similarites between corresponding shades; well done!

  27. I can't believe how similar they are! Makeup Revolution and Lorac are super difficult to get to Australia but it's nice to see an alternative to the unzipped palette because it is neutral shade heaven!

  43. Wow,I really enjoyed reading this :) I didn't want to have the Lorac palette because for my polish student life it is too expensive and I also don't feel comfortable with redish browns and I am scared to try them for not so small price ;) But you helped me very much! Now I am sure that I will buy makeup revolution. Don't you think that some palettes look pretty but if you know that they are dupe for something they look prettier and you want them more? ;) Anyway thanks a lot I am going to order my own Naked Chocolate. How a wonderful day!
