Throughout May I've been picking up bits and pieces from the drugstore so I thought I would round everything (I think...) up into a haul post to show you guys and give my first impressions of the products I've already been trying out.
This month was the month that I discovered bronzer and I did so in a big way! Firstly I picked up two Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Bronzers in Golden Days and Ready to Go (£4 each). I hadn't really heard much buzz around these but they're absolutely gorgeous! I'd had my eye in the Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powders but these are an amazing dupe for them, as they give a sheeny radiance without glitter or dewiness. Golden Days is more of a tradition golden bronze whereas Ready to Go has a little more of a rust tone to it. There are also some lighter and darker shades in the range and I can't recommend these enough.
My second lot of bronzer purchases came from Seventeen. I got myself both the Instant Glow Shimmer Bricks in Pink Bronze and Gold Bronze (£4.99 each). I've never been that tempted by the Bobbi Brown versions as I just never thought it was something I'd get much use from, however these really are lovely! Gold Bronze is my favourite, though I thin Gold Pink would be gorgeous on fairer skin tones. They add a gorgeous dewy shimmer to the skin and work really nicely as eyeshadows too. Also from Seventeen I picked up the Instant Glow Wow Skin Liquid Tan (£5.99), which adds a really nice, subtle bronzed shimmer to the skin when mixed in with your foundation.
I picked up a few bits that I'd heard a lot about but just hadn't got round to picking up. First up are the Max Factor Colour Intensify Balms in Refined Rose and Exquisite Caramel (£8.99 each). These are of course supposed to be dupes of the Clarins Instant Light Balm Perfectors. Personally I thought these were kind of expensive for what they are, however you can get a couple of shades in these for just one of the Clarins. To be honest they're basically a tinted lip balm and I just put them in my basket without checking the price, but maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by them! I am a eyeshadow crayon junkie but I'd somehow never tried Rimmel's range. So this month I got my hands on the Scandaleyes Shadow Sticks in Trespassing Taupe and Kate Rose Gold (£4.49 each). Taupe is a really great everyday base for your eyeshadow as it's a matte, natural shade. Rose Gold is gorgeous colour and looks really pretty on the inner corner of the eye. I was really impressed by how smooth and blend-able these are whist still being long-lasting.
Next I have a couple of sort-of re-purchases. My Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara was getting a bit crusty and running out so I went to re-purchase it. I saw they'd released a waterproof version, and whilst I never usually choose waterproof over regular mascara I have heard it holds the curl in your lashes for longer so thought I'd give it a go. If you would like to read a comparison of the original and the Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara (£7.99), let me know! I can't actually find this online but it was in my local Boots. I've hit pan on my original shade in this, however I wanted to buy a shade lighter in it anyway so I re-purchased the Bourjois Healthy Balance Compact Powder (£8.99) in 55. I really love this powder as it reduces my shine without ever looking cake-y or chalky.
The Boots in the Trafford Centre has a huuuuge array of Soap & Glory products so I grabbed a few bits. The Supercat Eyeliner (£6, post here) is possibly now my holy grail! So I decided to grab a backup for when my current one runs out. It's a really pigmented black felt pen eyeliner that doesn't transfer, gives you the perfect winged liner and stays inky and fresh for ages. I also got my mum to re-purchase Whipped Clean (£7) for me as she used up all of mine! It's a gorgeous creamy-but-slightly-foamy body wash that has this sweet oat-y fragrance (so no wonder she was stealing it on the sly!) As there was a 3 for 2 on my mum got her own Whipped Clean and I got another body wash, this time Rich and Foamous (£6.50). I sometimes struggle to find this and as it's my favourite of their shower products I always snap it up when I do see it. It's similar to Whipped Clean in that it has a sweet almond oat scent, however it's a little less thick and more of a traditional shower gel. The packaging also makes it a little easier to use in the shower.
I've been so much more into my nails recently so I picked up a few Barry M shades. I think I'll do a big roundup of their recent releases as I already have other shades in both these ranges I didn't post on at the time. In this haul I have one of the original Spring Speedy Quick Dry shades in Eat my Dust (a pastel blue) and one of the new Summer shades in Get Set Go (a bright raspberry) (£3.99 each). I then got myself another one of the Sunset Daylight Curing shades, Fuchsia Generation (a deep pink-purple) and the Top Coat (£4.99 each).
Maybe not quite drugstore but I had a Body Shop 40% off code so picked up a few bits there. I got myself the Vitamin E Overnight Serum-in-Oil (£13) as I'd never tried an overnight oil and love using hydrating products whilst I sleep. I also re-purchased the Hemp Hand Protector (£11), which I don't believe I've blogged about before but it's basically an amazing intensive hand cream that works miracles for my dryness. Lastly I got some Tea Tree Oil (£7) because my skin loves this stuff and I thought the oil formula would prevent my skin getting dried out whilst also treating my blemishes. It's also really good for clearing your sinuses.
For ages and ages I couldn't find the new Maybelline Master Sculpt Contour Kit in Medium/Dark (£6.99), however I just managed to get my hands on it and so far I'm liking it a lot! There was also a 3 for 2 so it would've been rude not to... I took the opportunity to re-purchase what seems to have become my holy grail under-eye concealer: the Eye Eraser in Nude (£7.99). Finally, I've heard a few people rave about the formula of these so I picked up a Superstay Nail Polish in Golden Brown (£4.49).

Have you tried any of these products? What have you picked up lately or want to get your hands on?
So jealous of all your lovely new products, especially the Maxfactor Balms! I haven't seen the Maybelline Contour Kit before, but after seeing it here I'm desperate to try it! x

I'm glad you liked the Maybelline nail polish formula :D xx
DeleteThose highlighters looks GORGEOUS! :o
ReplyDeleteThat maybelline contour and highlighting duo looks so similar to the loreal one but the loreal on here in Portugal is almost 20€!! How crazy is that for a 'drugstore' item?? :o

Wow! L'Oreal is on the pricier end of drugstore here but not to that extent! xx

I need to get my hands on the Maybelline Lash Sensational in Waterproof! I noticed it wasn't online either because I made a sneaky order off Boots a few days ago! Might just have to go into the shop and get it!

Yay for the Rimmel Kate rose gold eyeshadow stick! You're going to love that one!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE a comparison post on the Lash Sensational mascaras, I've been doubting wether to try out the waterproof one or not, I never really buy waterproof ones and I already find the regular Lash Sensational quite waterproof-y. It stays on so well so I don't know if the waterproof is going to do better ;) If you've had enough time to test it, I'd be so happy to see a review/comparison post on it!

ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous haul! I had no idea that 17 did a bronze version of that liquid highlighter! Will have to swatch it in store to see if it gets on with my skintone as the lighter one seemed far too pink. Those shimmer brick dupes look stunning, I think I'd like your favourite one too and the bourjois powder is amazing! The best I've tried :')
