When I heard several of my favourite YouTubers mention the Rimmel 5-Pan Eyeshadow in Brixton Brown (£6.99), I was dubious to say the least. Firstly, it isn't much to look at in the pan; the packaging is pretty cheap and flimsy and the shades also don't look that impressive. Secondly, £6.99 seemed a little steep for such a small, cheap-looking product when you can get a huge palette of high-quality shades from Makeup Revolution for the same price. However...I find myself eating my words!
Firstly the shades are really quite beautiful when swatched and combined on the lids, it creates a stunning look. You get two fairly true matte shades: a brown (Top Left) and a beige (Bottom Right). There's the gorgeous pearly highlighting colour (Top Right), an unusual red shimmer (Centre) and finally a pearlescent plummy brown (Bottom Left). The colour payoff is really impressive and you have everything you need for the base, highlight, crease, smoke and pop of colour.
They last so well throughout the day (and my eyelids are seriously oily!) and they have minimal fall out (I only got a little bit with the Bottom Right shade). Brixton Brown looks even more lovely with the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in Creamy Beige as a base; it's a favourite pairing of mine. The texture is really nice and soft and I love to apply them with my beloved Zoeva eye brushes.
All in all, if you're a lover of neutral eyeshadows, I'd recommend getting this in your life!
What drugstore products have you surprised yourself by loving?
Wow that centre shade is stunning, might have to pop out and get that. Mind you I have just done some damage in Superdrug!!

I have to say I've never thought to look at that brand for years either :) xx
DeleteI've seen this quint about on UK blogs - it looks so lovely, particular that red shade (which seems to be favorite). Its not in our drugstores (we have a very limited Rimmel selection) but I'll keep a look out!

DeleteI love the cranberry shade! It's beautiful! And you are right, the palette itself isn't a looker, I would have ignored it.

Well worth it even just for that shade :) xx
DeleteI've walked past this a few times and was skeptical for the same reasons as you, but now I want to pick it up. I'm surprised by how much I love the Natural Collection blushes.

DeleteI bought this around Christmas and I love it. It's actually something I haven't used in ages but you've made me want to pick it up again. It's so great for a nice neutral eye with a little pop of colour.
ReplyDeleteTara Eavan
This is a gorgeous little palette, would be great for travel, quite versatile but able to create some different looks with it. I might have to pick it up.

Yeah it's so compact! xx
DeleteThis looks amazing, such good colours all in one palette. I always think that is such a hard thing to find!
ReplyDeleteLifestyle Funxion
I know what you mean - usually there's one you don't use, but not here! xx
DeleteI know what you mean, I think that is one of the reasons I tend to not look at Rimmel that much hehe. The swatches look stunning, especially the top right and centre shades :) Fab review!
ReplyDeleteCharlee XO | CharmedCharlee
I don't usually look at Rimmel either but glad I did in this case! xx
DeleteAs soon as I saw this picture come up, I was like, WOW! I have not seen this in Boots but I feel like it is one that I would have thought was probably not that great once swatched. But it looks amazing in your swatches - goes to show, dont judge a book by its cover! xx
ReplyDeleteBrenda BusyBee | Makeup Revolution Highlighting Palettes Giveaway
It was quite tucked away on the stand I bought it from - I wouldn't have known it was there had I not been looking! xx
DeleteThis looks beautiful! The swatches are great as well, loads of pigment. Need to get this next time I'm on a Boots shopping spree. Don't think I can justify yet MORE neutral eye shadows at the moment though haha :)
ReplyDeleteKat | www.kathorrocks.com
Haha I know the feeling xx
DeleteThe colours are so pretty! I'm seriously tempted by this one xx
