I don't know where March has gone, it seems like it was only just the new year but soon it's going to be my birthday! March was not a big spend-y month for me for the most part as I've been saving for some high-end products as well as for holidays and all that. However there were some real stand-outs I'm going to tell you all about.
I wasn't lusting over this palette for ages or anything but it had been in the back of my mind for a while. I had a £5 voucher for Debenhams so picked up the Too Faced Natural Eye Palette (£32) on a whim. I didn't love it to begin with but now it's a go-to for me. The matte and shimmer shades are perfect for everyday, and whilst it's not that versatile, it's one I reach for time and time again.
This month I got the chance to try some MAC goodies through WAMO (post, review and swatches here) and the two I've fallen for are the Lip Pencil in Whirl* (£12.50) and Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby* (£18) (I like brown, ok?!) Whirl is of course the brown nude lip pencil that's rumoured to be in Kylie Jenner's stash. I love filling in my lips with this and just wearing it like that or layering another shade on top, as the formula is just so creamy. I also love Blushbaby, it's my perfect brown-pink neutral blusher for everyday wear. I can throw it on without thinking as it goes with everything and I love the subtle but build-able Sheertone formula.
Overall I found the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes (£8.99 each, review and swatches here) a bit of a mixed bag, however there were two absolute standout shades for me: Seductive Pink and Alluring Rose. These applied the best, had the longest-wear time and nicest colour pay-off from those I tried. I really like the subtle colour and highlighting effect of these. I was worried they'd look really glittery on my face but they actually don't. Seductive Pink is a really pretty peachy-pink whereas Alluring Rose is an interesting rosy-copper shade. I'm not sure that they're that similar to the Hourglass ones but it's nice to have a merged highlighting blusher range on the high street.
I also picked up Soap & Glory's Supercat Eyeliner Pen (£6, review and swatch here) in a Boots 3 for 2. I'd pretty much given up on eyeliner pens until recently as I'd had so many that ran out really quickly or just ended up coming out as a washed-out grey colour. However, Supercat is a super-pigmented eyeliner that's so easy to use and comes at a bargain price.
Another drugstore find this month has been the Revlon Photoready Skinlights Illuminator in Bare (£11.99). I've picked up a few of these but this one has to be my favourite (stay tuned for my thoughts on them). It's a really nice champagne shade, not gold but not silver, which is a rarity. I love how natural a liquid formula can look and this is definitely a great affordable one.

I've already gone on enough about this set so for my monthly favourites I've chosen my two most-used to represent the Zoeva Rose Golden Volume 2 Luxury Set & Holder (£55, review here). The ones I absolutely adore are the Luxe Cheek Finish (£11 for standard version) and Luxe Face Paint (£11 for standard version). The Luxe Cheek Finish works far better for me than the Sheer Cheek brush in the original set and between this and my Real Techniques Blush Brush, there isn't a blusher out there I can't get to apply nicely. It's perfect for when you want to pack the colour on with a subtle shade. The Luxe Face Paint makes contouring your cheek bones so smooth and easy. Not to mention the gorgeous powder nude and rose gold finish! By the way, you could win this set or any other Zoeva brush set of your choice by entering my giveaway here!
In terms of skincare, there's been one product that has stood out: the Body Shop Sumptuous Camomile Cleansing Butter (£12, post here). I've been using this every single day! I didn't think I'd ever like a product more than their Camomile Cleansing Oil but this is even better. You simply take a bit, warm it between your fingers then massage it into your face and it melts away everything (including stubborn black eye makeup). It's probably the only cleanser that isn't micellar water that doesn't irritate my eyes and my evening cleanse has never been this fast.
A bit of a random semi-beauty-related favourite is the 'You Look Lovely Today' Alphabet Bags Canvas Pouch (£18). £18 is a little steep for what it is and canvas is hardly the most practical thing to store makeup in when you're as careless as me buuuut...it's just so cute! I love it! And actually I've found that you can easily spot-clean this with a baby wipe.
Finally, I'm usually a creature of habit when it comes to fragrances but I tried something new this month: Philosophy Fresh Cream Eau de Toilette (£32, post here). I was after something yummy and indulgent but a little lighter than my beloved Laura Mercier Eau Gourmande and this fits the bill exactly. It isn't quite as long-lasting but it's already a Spring staple for me.

DeleteI actually prefer Cleansing Oil than the Cleansing Butter, but butter is great to take with me on a trip/holiday since it's compact. I love oil for everyday use though. I hope TBS will never stop producing them!!!

DeleteOhh now you're tempting me right back with your favourites haha! I really like the look of the Too Faced palette but am most excited to hear how much you love TBS Camomile Cleanser as this one appealed to me more than the oil and I'd been thinking of trying it - I def will now!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I've been struggling to choose which colour(s) to get from the Max Factor blushes - have hovered so many times, but Seductive Pink was up there so I'll go for that if it's your fave (I'd seen your other swatches but loved them all!).
