3 Great, Affordable Eyeliner Pens

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with eyeliner pens...I've tried so many that weren't pigmented enough, that ran out after only a couple of weeks or that were awkward and uncomfortable to apply. When done right, felt-tip pens are one of my favourite ways to do eyeliner as they're easy to apply, last all day and don't transfer all over the place. I decided I needed to get a good collection together of budget alternatives as I love the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner, but it would just be too much effort to keep re-purchasing it from the US! I've found these three products that do the job perfectly for £6 or less so I thought I'd share them with you...

Bit of a mouthful, but a really nice product! The pigmentation is good and the double ended feature means you can get the perfect cat eye. I tend to do my very inner corner and the detail on my flick with the thin end and then the bulk of the line across my lash with the thicker end (which is similar in size to the nib on the other two liners I have here). The only negative I'd say is that I personally wouldn't want to do the entire thing with the thin end as it could be a little scratchy. I've found that it's still performing a few weeks down the line. It's my favourite for getting a thin and precise look, however I do get a little bit of transfer with this! Though my eye area is much oiler than most people's.

The oldest and most-used of the bunch but still going strong! Whilst it doesn't have the double-ended feature of the Makeup Revolution offering, you can use the very point to get a thinner line or angle it to get something thicker. It's a really great size and shape for me personally and isn't scratchy or awkward in the slightest. The pigmentation is nice but not out of this world, however I'm impressed that it still hasn't faded to a grey, wishy-washy shade.

This one is so unbelievably inky and is probably the most fully-opaque of the three. This is definitely my newest purchase so I can't comment as much on how long it will stay this way, however so far, so good! The shape and size of the nib is pretty similar to the Collection one and the main difference between these two is that Supercat is a little more pigmented than the Collection one was when I first got it. It really depends how important that is to you, as there isn't much between the two.

What are your favourite eyeliner pens?

  1. I had no idea that Makeup Revolution made eyeliners and it looks really lovely with double ends. The Collection Extreme Eyeliner was the first felt tip eyeliner I tried and I loved it as it has helped me perfect my technique. However, my all time favourite and holy grail is the L'Oreal Super Slim Eyeliner and it is just divine!! :-))....Thanks for sharing!!!..xx

  4. This is the perfect post for me Jasmine as I'm looking for anew liner. I love the collection felt tip and have used it for years, but accidentally bought the purple version recently and am using it as an excuse to try a different black one. The Soap & glory one sounds amazing! :)

  6. I don't own any eyeliner pens (although now I have my eye on the Soap and Glory one!). I love liquid, pencil and gel liners. My favorite right now is the liquid liner by NYC.

  9. You're so lucky that you have cheap eyeliners where you're at! The cheapest I saw in Singapore was roughly $12! Nice post by the way! :) Love your blog!

  14. Woo, name twin! I've never tried any of the three you mentioned. I had set out to buy the Soap and Glory Supercat liner but I ended up getting the Maybelline Master precise liner, only because there was a 3 for 2 on Maybelline! I quite like it so far. The pigmentation of the Maybelline one is very black. If you're looking for any more to try out, you should try that one! Anyway, back to your post. You went into depth which is so helpful - thank you! It's great that you also swatched them as it gives us a look of how they are, if that makes sense! Overall, I loved this post! x

  24. I always love finding good eyeliners. this is a great post to compare the different ones and really see which ones are the better products. I personally like my eyeliners to be very dark and dry quickly. Usually when I apply eyeliner I have to fan off my eyelids to get it to dry or else I will have black eyeliner all over the place haha

  28. I’m exactly the same when it comes to eyeliner pens I once had the chubby Barry M and it ended up leaving me looking like a panda as it just rubbed and transferred so easily. I really want to try the Soap and Glory eyeliner as this sounds really fab, and have heard such good things :) I do like the Collection eyeliner definitely a favourite of mine, and cheap and cheerful :) I really love L'Oreal's Superliner, fab post sweet :)
