I feel as though this past year I've been on a quest to find a drugstore concealer that I actually like. Most of the blogger favourites have either been the wrong colour for me or just not really worked. Then came along the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Eye Concealer (£7.99)...
I was pretty much expecting another disappointment but somehow one of the only 2 shades this concealer comes in worked pretty well for me. I have the colour 'Nude' (although surely everyone's shade is nude for them...?) I picked it up because as much as I love my Nars concealer, it's definitely one to go with a proper foundation. This is a lot lighter so works well with tinted moisturisers, cc creams and bb creams.
Before
After
It's definitely an under-eye concealer. I guess you could use it on spots and blemishes if you really want to but it's not really that sort of a product (if you want an affordable blemish concealer try the Collection Lasting Perfection one). The light texture also means you can use it for highlighting. Although there's not a huge amount to look at, I've swatched it so you can see the texture. It's smooth, easy to blend and will not cake no matter how heavy-handed you are with it!
The applicator definitely makes me feel a bit ill, but the fact it's an under eye concealer makes it a lot less unhygienic than if you were putting a sponge on your spots. The sponge does apply it quite nicely, though it can be hard to tell how much you're applying. Overall no product with such a weightless texture has ever given me such good coverage underneath my eyes.
The search is over so I'm gonna pack up and go home! Just kidding, but seriously, if you suffer from dark circles or hyper-pigmentation in the eye area it's a godsend. I definitely think they need to bring out more shades though.
Have you tried Age Rewind? What is your favourite affordable concealer?

I have not long bought this and I have tried it a few times and I hate to say that I am not a fan, I find that it wears off really quickly and creases on me, also didn't cover much of my really dark circles but as we said yesterday that is just me. Glad that you love it so much and I have to say that you have amazing skin without makeup on :)

ReplyDeleteLauren // The Beauty Ideal
Yeah it was sold out in a few places for me too! And I read your post :) xx
DeleteI'm about to run out of my concealer from NYX, I was going to try Seventeen phwoar paint, but may have to get this one to. KBxx
ReplyDeletehttp://beautybykaris.com
Yeah it's definitely worth a shot :) though I've heard good things about the Seventeen one too! xx
DeleteI haven't tried this but I've heard so many good reviews, my favourite drugstore concealer is the seventeen stay time concealer. It's a lighter much more hydrating but still as high on the coverage version of collection lasting perfection.
ReplyDeleteColeoftheball xx
I've seen quite a few posts on that one - will definitely be trying it if I can xx
DeleteI'm yet to try it but I really want it, just waiting for my current concealers to finish :) x
ReplyDeleteMummy’s Beauty Corner
I know what you mean - I have a fair few open at the moment! xx
DeleteThis is a concealer i ALWAYS hear amazing things about! I must pick it up soon!
ReplyDeletexprincessjas | ♥
Yeah I'd definitely recommend giving it a go at that price ;) xx
DeleteI mentioned this in my latest YouTube video because I am not a fan. I wonder if it's because the lightest colour is just a shade too orange for my face... the best concealer I have used or my skin tone is the Natural Concealer from Kiko. x
ReplyDeleteI love Kiko but have never tried their base products as I can't order those online with how much I struggle to find matches! I should do next time I can visit a store though xx
DeleteThis is on my to try list! Looks so good, great review!!
ReplyDeleteFrancesca xo // EffStar Beauty // YouTube Channel
Definitely check it out :) xx
DeleteI have read so many rave reviews and seen this used in so many Yourtube tutorials and I love the look of it! My Collection concealer is just about finished so this is on my list to pick up! :) x
ReplyDeleteBrenda BusyBee
Yeah definitely check it out - I find it's a lot less heavy under the eyes than the Collection one xx
DeleteThis sounds like a dream for my dark circles and I've had loads of people recommending it to me so will definitely have to pick it up soon x
ReplyDeleteBeauty with charm
It really is and so few products work on mine! xx
DeleteThis looks like the perfect product for me! I've been searching for something that conceals my under-eye circles, and it seems like this is a great choice. Thanks for the post!

It's perfect if you have bad dark circles but don't want something too cakey :) xx
DeleteI've heard so many people raving about this! It's never in stock when I look for it though. They def need to bring out more shades, just two is quite shocking lol. It looks amazing on you!
ReplyDeleteVanessa // VNSX xx
I agree - 2 shades is ridiculous, I hope they see how popular this is and release some more! xx
Deleteheard so many good things about this and seriously want to try it, gonna pick it up next time i'm out if it's in stock!
ReplyDeletefashion, beauty and an existential crisis
Yeah a few people seem to be struggling to get their hands on it! xx
DeleteI really wish I could find my correct shade in this concealer. I swatched this is instore and it looked a little too light and I didn't wanna risk it..so it's a miss until they bring out more shades. On another note, i have just noticed your freckles for the first time and it looks so cute and suits you!!...xx
ReplyDeleteYeah I agree it's ridiculous there's only 2 shades - this one is a bit light for me but it's yellow enough so I sort of make it work lol
DeleteAnd aww thank you :) xx
You're so beautiful and ah, your skin is to die for! I've been looking at this online but I can't be sure the lightest option will be too dark >.< usually is! X
ReplyDeleteamyslittleweb
Aww thank you - you're so lovely! xx
DeleteMaybelline makes some fantastic concealer type products! This one was in my rotation for years along with the Dream Lumi :-)
ReplyDeleteBeauty Isles | An Island Girl's Beauty and Lifestyle Blog
Really rate Maybelline right now - maybe I should try the Dream Lumi soon :) xx
DeleteI picked this up a couple of weeks ago and at first I wasn't a fan but recently I have been loving it!! So glad like you to finally find an affordable decent concealer. Lovely pics

DeleteI'm still yet to try this concealer, but after hearing so many people rave about it I'll definitely be picking it up :) I see what you mean about the hygiene factor, but I'd stick to using it under the eyes too :)

Yeah I feel like it's definitely an eye concealer anyway and I guess the sponge does apply it nicely it just makes me cringe! xx
DeleteI adore this concealer, but after I finished it, I never pick up a new one, and I don't know why. It was such a fab purchase in my eyes, I do just need to stop dithering and pick it up anon.
ReplyDeleteAngie x |~ Chocolate & Lipstick || UK Beauty and Lifestyle Blog ~
Yeah - definitely do, it's great :D xx
DeleteI'm so desperate to try this! I went to three Boots yesterday and they were all sold out of the lighter shade which is a shame. Hopefully I'll find it eventually! xo
ReplyDeletewww.seekmyscribbles.com
You could always order it from their website :) xx
DeleteI have tried to get his everywhere but it's always sold out! Love this review and love the pics. Can't wait to get my hands on it.
ReplyDeletepearlnovembre.blogspot.com <3
A few people have mentioned that - I must've got lucky with it! xx
DeleteI love this concealer but both shades are too dark for me. The US seems to have a lot more shades which is annoying! X
ReplyDeleteYeah I've noticed with a few brands like L'Oreal and Revlon too that there are way more shades in their base products in the US - very frustrating :( xx
DeleteI love this concealer! This and the collection lasting finish are my go to drug store concealers :)
