Anyone obsessed with Maybelline's Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows will feel the frustration at how few shades the UK has compared to the US. Well, maybe Maybelline UK have been listening because a few of the Leather Effect range have made their way over the Atlantic. I picked up the shades Creamy Beige and Chocolate Suede (£4.99 each) available here.
I did hear from a couple of people that they didn't like these as they weren't as creamy and blend able as the originals, so I kind of lowered my expectations. However after a fortnight of using these I have to say that hasn't been my experience at all. They definitely have a slightly drier texture however I found them far easier to work with than the very matte Permanent Taupe.
Creamy Beige is pretty much my perfect neutral eye base, I'm not quite as fond of Chocolate Suede but it's nice to use for a more evening look. Neither are 'glittery' as such, they just have this pearlescent sheen I really like. I think both look nice on their own, however my usual workday routine will be Creamy Beige across the lid with a brown matte powder shade in the crease on top of it.
Overall, I really like these and if you're a fan of the original line definitely try them. I think Creamy Beige is my personal preference. Also you can see the whole rest of my Colour Tattoo collection swatched here.

DeleteI don't think Maybelline can ever do anything wrong in my eyes especially with the Color Tattoos. I have not experienced any dry feelings with the new releases and I absolutely adore Creamy Beige. I may be picking up Chocolate Suede...thanks for the review...xx
ReplyDeleteI agree - I love Creamy Beige :) I think they were a little drier simply as they're more matte xx
