REVIEW || Max Factor Excess Shimmer Eyeshadows

I love shimmer, I love cream eyeshadows...so it's really no surprise I picked up some of the Max Factor Excess Shimmers (£7.99 each)!

I grabbed 2 shades: Copper and Bronze. I have to say the names are a little misleading! Copper is a silvery taupe shade whereas Bronze is a deep, luxurious red-toned brown. There is quite a bit of glitter in them but (contrary to the name) not an excessive amount.

The texture is mousse-like, which is different to any other drugstore cream eyeshadow I've tried. If I had to compare them to something I'd say the Illamasqua Vintage Metallix. Despite this, they are actually really long-lasting. They're perfect if you want to look like you made a little more effort than you did!

I have to say my favourite shade is Bronze - it's just so me! I tend to apply these with the base eyeshadow brush from my Nic's Picks Real Techniques Set and blend it out. Any synthetic brush will do though! They work really well taken under the eye, as a base or right across the eyelid.

BRONZE ON THE LID, COPPER UNDER THE EYE

I seriously rate these and if the other shades in the range were a little more my thing I'd be off out to buy the lot! The only negative is that they aren't really something I'd wear during the daytime unless I was off somewhere nice, and for me personally cream eyeshadows are for rushed weekday mornings.

  6. I'm not the biggest fan of cream eye shadows, I don't know why, I'm just not drawn to them for some reason, I only recently picked my first Maybelline Tattoos to use as a base ;) Having said that the shade Copper looks beautiful and just for that I'd like to get it :) x

  10. I saw these eyeshadows in boots and I couldn't believe how 'mousse' like it is! It's good to hear that they are long lasting too. I love the 'bronze' shade as it's so beautiful and it looks great on you! x

  11. I love cream eyeshadows but most of the time I am allergic to them so I stick to my beloved Kiko cream eyeshadow sticks. Bronze is gorgeous and looks very nice on you. You wrote copper instead of bronze in you second paragraph. Hope you don't mind me pointing that out, that's something I would like to be said if it happened to me. :) x

  12. These look beautiful, although I can't say I've noticed them in any of my local stores?! Definitely need to go on the hunt for them, they'd look beautiful for a festive makeup look!

  13. I also really liked these and Bronze is definitely my favourite but I agree that they are a bit too much for daytime, which means I haven't worn them much as I also like cream shadows for a quick makeup look. x
