Today I'm sharing the summer-hued, low-effort makeup products I'm reaching for all the time at the moment...
I recently got this next product back in my life and I've not really put it down since! The Trinny London BFF De-Stress Tinted Serum* (Leslie) | £39 | full review | is just a wonderful formula. I do wish it came in more shades, to be honest; yes, it's a light tinted serum but I do still think the gradient is skewed towards the lighter shades. But, the texture and finish is pretty much perfect for my personal makeup preferences; it comes out creamy and hydrating and and blends like a dream. It's fresh and radiant, but not shiny, and evens out my complexion without covering it up. It has great longevity, even on hot days, and doesn't crease or sink into my fine lines.
Onto cheek products and I'm all about cream formulas (as I'm sure regular readers will know!) One of my all-time favourite highlighters has to be the Rare Beauty Positive Light Liquid Luminiser in Outshine | £24 | full review. This is a liquid highlight without a silvery sheen or chunks of glitter; it's smooth and offers true dewy luminosity without giving you that tin man look. It's somehow striking but still natural on the skin, which is why I love it. Outshine is a warm light gold colour that works perfectly with sunkissed summer makeup looks. As a bronzer, I have to say I find myself most often going for my Merit Beauty Bronze Balm in Seine | £32 | full review. I think it's because it's quick, easy and foolproof to apply, to be honest! It's a sheer and forgiving creamy formula, making it perfect to reach for when you're in a hurry and takes just a couple of swipes and a bit of blending to bring a warmth to the skin. This tone is spot-on for me; it's not orange but it adds a bronzed glow that's decidedly not contour-like. Unlike other balm cheek products, it does last on my skin and doesn't look shiny or get patchy and disappear during my usual day.
Next, we have a blush and lip product in one: the Nudestix Nudies Matte in Picante | £31.50. This is a really wearable way to do a red-orange cheek and lip look; again, it has a sort of sheer-balm texture that means it blends effortlessly. It's nothing too pigmented and doesn't cling to or emphasise dry patches on the cheeks or lips. It's a true red chilli tone that I'm loving for this time of year, plus you can throw it in your bag for on-the-go touch-ups, which I always find I need more during hot weather. On my lips I've been wearing this next product on its own or layered over the top of Picante. I can't get enough of the Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in Apricot | £25 | right now. It's hydrating, has a dimensional glossy look on the lips, it's low-maintenance (you can apply it without even really looking!) and I love this wash of orange-toned colour.
Finally, we have the Glossier Lash Slick Mascara | £20 | full review | which I repurchase every single summer! This is a tubing mascara so it doesn’t flake, smudge or get in my eyes during the hot weather. It’s lengthening, gives great separation and creates a nice, natural look.
What’s your go-to makeup for summer?
