Today we're doing my Summer Beauty Edit for 2022 featuring the skincare, makeup and body care that I've been reaching for and loving this season...

I have a couple of cleansers I've been reaching for a lot this summer. The first is the Laneige Cream Skin Milk Oil Cleanser | £26.50. This is a lightweight milky cleanser that works well as an everyday first cleanse on my skin. It breaks down sunscreen gentle and is effective for removing an office day level of makeup when paired with a damp face cloth. It doesn't leave behind any excess on my skin and most importantly: it means I'm not putting a rich or heavy balm-to-oil on my face at the end of a long, hot day! For a water-based morning or second cleanse, I reach for the Cipher Cloud Melt Hybrid Cleanser* | $68 | full review. This is a kind of creamy gel with a bit of body; it's water-based but non-foaming and offers an effective but gentle cleanse with ingredients like panthenol, prickly pear oil and PHAs.

Moving onto leave-on products: I really recommend using something that's hydrating but has a bit of a punch to it after cleansing, so you're getting a range of benefits in one quick step with no need to layer on multiple products. I really like Then I Met You's the Giving Essence | £48 | full review | for just that. This essence is lightweight but hydrating and soothing with hyaluronic acid, aloe and allantoin. However you're also getting a multi-tasking active in niacinamide and super-powered fermented ingredients; with regular use, this gentle formula is a good skin day bottled, improving the overall look and feel of my skin and making it glow. I then follow it up with the Glow Recipe Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream* | £35 | full review. This gel-cream is rich in humectants and plant extracts and it's somehow enough for my dry skin whilst having a light, melting texture. The hydration it delivers really lasts all day and it gives my skin a fresh, dewy look and plenty of bounce!

And obviously we need to talk sunscreen! I have two options, and the first is the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid SPF 50+* £18. I buy this every single summer but this year there's been an update to add in a new filter: UVMUNE 400, which is to protect against longer-wave UVA rays that can cause deep cellular damage in the skin. That's on top of a formula that was already offering a broad spectrum SPF 50+. What also makes this great for the summer and perfect for holidays is its excellent water resistance (so you can trust it when you're breaking a sweat) and the fact will stay on the skin through sandy beach days, though you obviously need to reapply it afterwards if you go swimming. It's super lightweight and won't leave a white cast on the skin. For makeup days, it has to be the Ultra Violette Supreme Screen Hydrating Skinscreen SPF 50+ | £34 | full review. This is a lightweight hydrating lotion with a very slight peachy tint, giving you some visible light protection alongside the very high UVA and UVB protection. It doesn't leave a cast on my skin but does leave it soft, plump and ready for my base makeup. It never pills and makes wearing daily sunscreen a pleasure!

It's probably not a surprise for the regulars that my go-to base for the warmer months has been the Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum* (060) | £36 | full review. This is a hydrating serum with pigment spheres so as you work it into the skin they burst to give you a light, fresh coverage. It's glow-y and incredibly breathable, making it perfect when you want a little something on your skin to harmonise your complexion without smothering it in the heat.

Let's talk cheek stuff: if you're new around here, I have to warn you that I pretty much exclusively use cream products to create a glowing but long-wearing finish. For highlight, I can't get enough of the Charlotte Tilbury Beauty Light Wand in Goldgasm | £29 | right now! This is a liquid highlighter with a sponge applicator and I love the luminous glow it gives to the skin. The warm, slightly-peachy tone is also perfection! I actually really like to mix it in with my Made by Mitchell Blursh Liquid Blusher in Terracotta Tan | £14. This is a matte liquid blusher with a kind of moussey texture that's very pigmented and long-wearing. This is a warm tan shade that I love for a warm, bronzed makeup look. It's probably not a surprise if you watch a lot of my makeup Reels on Instagram, but my bronzer of choice is almost always the Refy Cream Bronzer in Tan | £18 | full review. I just haven't found anything that's quite on its level! I love that it has this very emollient but pigmented formula that adds a natural warmth to my skin. It's not patchy to apply and wears so well throughout the day.

I tend to keep my eye looks a little simpler during hot summer days, and cream shadows are perfect for that, offering a quick one-step eye look that won't crease during the day. At the moment, I really like the Nudestix Magnetic Eye Colour in Dew Wap from their Mini Nude Gold Glam Kit | £24. This is a light, warm, glossy champagne-gold wash of colour; I just draw it on, blend out the edges with my fingers and I'm good to! My go-to summer mascara is always Glossier's Lash Slick | £16 | full review. I pick it up every year because it's a tubing mascara so doesn't smudge, flake or smear through the heat or hayfever. It's lengthening and separating but if you want a bit more oomph: use your favourite volumising mascara underneath and lock it in with this!

Of course we have some low-maintenance lip options too with a bit of sunscreen in them too so you're topping up your protection as you top up your colour. The Fresh Punch Tinted Lip Treatment | £19.50 | is more of an everyday option with its SPF 15 but I love this wash of warm reddish-orange colour for summer. For hotter weather, I really like the more subtly-tinted Ultra Violette Sheen Screen Tinted Lip Balm SPF 50 in Peach* | £16. So many higher-SPF lip products are thick, messy and get in your mouth and taste terrible. Not this one! Plus it's moisturising, gives a glossy look to the lips and has the slightest hint of an electric peach tone.

I have really dry skin, so it's essential for me to have a lightweight but effective body lotion on-hand. This year for me, it's been the Malin + Goetz B5 Body Lotion* | £30 | full review. It's really easy to grab for in the morning, which always helps but I also love the citric scent and how quickly it absorbs into the skin. Despite the light texture, it's packed full of good stuff like panthenol and avocado oil. As a body sunscreen for when I'm dressed for the heat, I've been reaching for the Bondi Sands Fragrance-Free Lotion SPF 50+* | £7.99 | full review. It's really moisturising, it doesn't pill or leave a cast but provides a high level of broad spectrum protection with 4 hours water resistance for when you're breaking a sweat.

To get some natural colour for your body: I recommend the Isle of Paradise Self-Tanning Body Butter* | £17.95. You really can't go wrong with applying this and it comes in a moisturising base, so that removes one step from your prep routine. It's a gradual tan that develops in a way that's completely streak-free and adds a natural colour that never looks orange or like too much.

To finish things off: let's talk scent! This summer I've been really enjoying the Jo Loves Fragrance Paintbrush in Mango Thai Lime* | £40. I love the concept of this product: it's a refillable pen that comes with two cartridges filled with a concentrated gel fragrance. So, you just click the base, it dispenses a bit of product and one click can do the insides of my wrists and my neck. The scent lasts incredibly well on the skin and it's really travel-friendly. This tropical scent is perfect for summer with notes of mango, black pepper, lime and mint. Yum!
