GOING FULL GLAM

I can't believe we're already into the festive season once again! It's time for me to share some of my more glam, evening-appropriate makeup makeup picks...

- THE BASE -

I like to use a matte foundation for nights out, so I can be sure my base will last, but as a compromise I tend to go for a radiant primer. My personal favourite is the Becca Backlight Priming Filter | £28. This is just gorgeous, dewy radiance in a bottle and it gives that extra life to your skin if you're wearing a matte foundation. A product I know I can trust to hold up is the L'Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (106 Sun Beige) | £14.95. This is my holy grail full-coverage foundation; it's matte without leaving my complexion looking flat. It has a build-able coverage, so you don't have to go all-in with it but it still looks so flawless without me ever feeling like I'm wearing a lot of makeup. I also know it won't leave my face looking shiny or break up in my problem areas.

I love using my Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (Medium) | £22 | for flawless coverage that's crease-proof and so long-lasting. It doesn't look thick or heavy on the skin but has amazing coverage and gives that perfected look. It's not drying and it blends out so nicely. I then set everything in place with my Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder | £20 | full review. This is my absolute favourite powder because it's so fine and traceless but mattes the skin right down and ensures my t-zone stays shine-free and my concealer is locked in place.

- THE EYES -

I love using my Huda Beauty Rose Gold Remastered Eyeshadow Palette* | £56 | full review | for a quick and easy smokey eye look. There are these foiled metallic shades in here that add an instant glam vibe to my makeup looks (though you definitely have to apply them with your fingers). I will often use the warm light-medium matte brown Sandalwood as a transition and then use the deeper reddish-brown matte Henna to add depth to the crease. I then take one of the foiled shades - #Blessed (a warm bronze-gold) - and press it onto the centre of the lid. To finish it off I go for the rich, warm deep pink matte Maneater across the lower lash line and the very light gold shimmer Moon Dust in the inner corner as a highlight.

If I feel like I want some actual glitter on my eyes; I go for the Hourglass Scattered Light Glitter Eyeshadow in Foil | £26. It's a gorgeous cream eyeshadow with bright gold glitter and a golden base colour. You can just pat this onto the lids for an instant glossy glam look on the eyes. This lasts really well on me too! To finish off my looks I obviously love a bit of liner. My favourites are the Stila ones: Smudge Stick Waterproof Liner in Vivid Smoky Quartz* | £16 | and Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Intense Smoky Quartz | £16. I use the Smudge Stick on my waterline (both top and bottom) because it's so long-lasting and doesn't transfer but still has really good pigment. The Stay All Day is my favourite liquid liner - it's so precise, meaning you can get the perfect winged liner look. This formula also doesn't bleed, smudge or transfer, even on my watery eyes! These are both in a deep, warm, smoky matte brown colour, which I love for a softer look than black that's still dramatic.

To finish off the eyes; I apply something to my lashes and brows. I rarely use falsies (for practical reasons, as I often go out straight from work) so I need a lot of volume from my mascara. My favourite for a glam makeup look is the Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara* | £25 | review. It gives me volume without the clump and really dark, dramatic lashes but it doesn't flake or smudge either, making it perfect for long nights out. I then use the Hourglass Arch Brow Sculpting Pencil* (Dark Brunette) | £31 | which is a thicker, angled brow pencil. It definitely doesn't look over-the-top or unnatural but it's a bit of a bolder look. The tone itself is natural and it doesn't smudge.

- THE CHEEKS -

On the cheeks, it has to be a 'glowing' look (obviously!) and the tone needs to work with the rest of the look. I go for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Amrezy Highlighter* | £29 | review | for a stunning frosty gold highlight. It has a gorgeous metallic finish and you can build it to a really blinding look. This was limited edition but it's coming back! To add some warmth and dimension to my skin, I opt for the Becca Sunlit Bronzer in Ipanema Sun | £27. This is a really easy-to-blend formula that's warm but not orange and has a very subtle sheen for some added glow. I never really contour so bronzer also gives a bit of definition to my face. To finish off the look; the Milani Baked Blush in Bellissimo Bronze* | £10 | is perfect. As I have a slightly bolder lip, the more subtle finish of this really works to pull the look together. This is a nude golden-bronze blusher with a sheen. It never goes patchy, it's impossible to over-apply and it lasts so well on my skin.

- THE LIPS -

To finish off this sort of look, I love the Nabla Dreamy Matte Liquid Lipstick in Broadway | £13.25. I know liquid lipsticks have kind of 'had their day' in the beauty world but I still think they're great for a night out when you don't want to have to keep reapplying every time you have a drink. It gives a matte finish but isn't drying and doesn't emphasise the cracks in my lips or anything like that. It lasts well on me and when it's time to re-apply, it doesn't get flaky or messy. Broadway is a warm reddish-brown terracotta colour.
