If You Buy One Thing This Month... | Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara

Yes, you read correctly - I'm actually recommending a high-end mascara! This series focuses on a single standout product of the month that I recommend checking out and today we're focussing on the Hourglass Caution Extreme Mascara* | £25.

I do receive quite a lot of products from brands and PR companies and I'm quite set in my ways when it comes to mascara, so this really wasn't at the top of my product testing priority list. However I got round to giving it a go and (surprisingly!) it kind of blew me away...

Let's start with the packaging - obviously it's gorgeous and it does have that weight to it that makes it feel very premium. At the same time it is a little bulky and the metal packaging means it can easily get covered in fingerprints. The wand has a bristled brush, which isn't usually my preference. I like that the wand isn't too ridiculously caked in product when you unsheath it too.

I don't think I've got another super-volumising mascara in my collection as I tend to go for a long, fluttery look, however this does still give me a good amount of length. The formula isn't thick or gloopy, so (paired with the brush) it doesn't clump my lashes together and I still get a nice amount of separation. It also gives me amazingly dark lashes, so it's a bold look without me having to layer on too much product.

This is the mascara I reach for when I want a glamorous, more dramatic look, though it isn't too much to occasionally wear to the office. I just love the look it creates! It doesn't flake on me, but I have been spoiled by Glossier Lash Slick this summer, which is a fibre mascara and doesn't smude AT ALL! This does give a small amount of transfer on my oily eyes when I'm wearing it on a long day or night. It's nothing major but I thought it was worth mentioning.

Overall I'm super impressed with this mascara and no one is more surprised by that than me! I've tried a fair few high-end mascaras but to be honest, most of them can be easily duped in the drugstore. I'm not saying you can't get this look for less, I just personally haven't tried a mascara that gives me such a gorgeous, glam look. So, if you want to invest - I recommend picking this up!

Have you tried the Hourglass mascara? Do you think you want to?
