Best in Beauty | January

I've been deliberating bringing back old-school favourites posts to my blog for a while and decided 2018 would be the year to try it in! Doing my year-end favourites made me realise how much I miss writing these posts, so let's give this another go...

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Mini in Rose Gold | £15 | I can never resist a mini, so a little before Christmas I decided this was the perfect way to try some more of Becca's highlighters. I loooove their formula because it really doesn't look or feel like a normal powder - the texture is so smooth and gives this amazingly intense dewy highlight without any glitter. This shade is beautiful - it's a warm rose gold that works so well for my skin tone that I don't know how it took me so long to pick it up!

Pixi MatteLast Liquid Lip in Matte Beige* | £16 | This formula really did knock my socks off! It has a soft, almost satin feel on the lips that's very comfortable and pretty much like a normal lipstick however it has a true matte finish and is so long-lasting. And by 'long-lasting', I mean that one day I put it on at 7:30am, went to work, had my breakfast, had several cups of coffee and it was still in place when I went to get my lunch! After lunchtime it had worn off a little but still looked very even, at which point I topped it up. Matte Beige is that perfect Velvet Teddy type nude - it's very much a beige but has a warm, slightly pinky-brown undertone.

ColourPop Double Entendre Pressed Powder Eyeshadow Palette | $16 | review | I'll apologise in advance that there are so many palettes in this post! What can I say? It was a good month for eyeshadows... This is the perfect warm, smoky evening selection of nudes. You can get several entire looks out this palette because it has the right mix of mattes and shimmers, as well as lighter and darker shades and besides the matte cream colours (which I just never reach for), I use all of the shades. The quality is excellent, especially for the budget price tag!

Huda Beauty Desert Dusk Eyeshadow Palette | £56 | This is a pricey product and I'll be doing a full review on it at some point to take you through my thoughts shade-by-shade. However overall I do think it was worth it! You can create a gorgeous look with these warm, rich reds, purples and oranges. The pigmentation is just incredible and I love the inclusion of these interesting duo-chrome shades.

Tarte Tartelette Toasted Eyeshadow Palette | £41 | Rounding off the palettes is a product that seems as though it was made for me personally! I just can't get over how smooth and easy to blend these eyeshadows are and the colour payoff is just incredible. I obviously love all of the warm tones and this shade selection can take you from day to night. As with many of Tarte's products, the longevity is super-impressive!

Tarte Shape Tape Concealer (Medium) | £22 | This concealer has so much hype and I finally know why! I'm just going to have to start ordering backups in bulk so I'm never without it... It's perfect for under the eyes because it has amazing coverage, has a nice highlighting effect and doesn't crease on me at all. It just does everything I want my concealer to!

The Hero Project Hyasoft Instant Moisture Boost* | £19 | This is a gel product that I like to use as a serum. It's perfect for combination-oily skin that that still suffers from dehydration! It's so fast-absorbing and doesn't leave any sort of tacky film on the surface of the skin. It has an instant cooling, soothing effect and just plumps up the skin nicely, adding instant hydration. I'll do a full review of this soon but the ingredients include Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5.

Pixi Rose Flash Balm* | £26 | I'm using this moisturiser-primer hybrid every day at the moment - if you read my blog regularly you'll know I'm a huge fan of these kinds of products (and anything that will save me a few minutes in the morning generally!) This is a lightweight cream that's moisturising but actually has a semi-matte finish on the skin. It's perfect for prepping your skin for foundation and my base goes on so smoothly when I use this. It makes my base look fresh and healthy, which is my main goal, especially at this time of year.

Facetory Subscription Box* | $15.95 | A lot of people have a opinions on beauty boxes, however sheet masks are one of the few real consumibles in my routine so I love the idea of constantly being stocked up with new brands to try. Facetory kindly sent me over one of their boxes just to see if I liked it and I loved this selection enough to include it here! I haven't tried every single one (you can have a look inside on my Instagram) in here just yet but so far the standout is the Real Barrier one, which is amazing at plumping out dehydration lines (I've never had such a noticeable difference with this type of mask in that respect). It ships internationally (which costs $9.95), you can cancel any time and you can choose whether you'd like 7 deluxe masks like in this box or four per month (for $5.95). I was given a (non-affiliate) discount code to share with you for 20% off your first box if you want to give this a try: JTALKSBEAUTY20.

Redken All Soft Shampoo* | £14.50 | & Hask Keratin Protein Smoothing Conditioner* | £6.99 | This is a combination I've been using for almost every wash! The Redken shampoo is so softening and leaves my hair looking nice and healthy. It cleanses gently without stripping my dry hair. Then I follow up with the Hask conditioner, which is a total bargain! It has this amazing smoothing effect, de-frizzing the hair and giving it moisturised feel and a silky look. I can't recommend this duo enough!

Semilac Gel Manicure* | This is a bit of a bonus favourite because it's not a product, it's a treatment! Since just before Christmas I've been totally sold on gel manicures - I've always had quite weak, peeling nails so often when I paint them with normal polish, they might even chip on the same day! I've tried out a few places in Birmingham now but a couple of weeks ago I was invited to the Semilac Nail Bar in Solihull. I have never in my life seen so many nail colour options - especially for gel! Semilac is actually a brand, so the nail bar has access to all of their dozens of collections, though if you aren't in Birmingham you will be able to choose their products at other selected salons. I've never had the level of care and perfectionism taken on my nails as I did at Semilac and they used some special additional techniques to ensure the polish gets right up into the cuticles and you get as long out of your manicure as possible. 2.5 weeks later and my nails haven't chipped around the edges at all! You can check out the colour I got on my Instagram because it really is gorgeous.
