Autumn-Winter Skincare Heroes

If there's one thing my skin hates, it's cold weather! I'm sure I'm not alone but my skin has already starting to get drier and more sensitive. I've recently tried a few new products that that contain the amazing ingredients that really help see me through the Autumn/Winter months, so today I'm sharing them with you.

Cleansers

When it comes to cleansing, I like to switch to something cream-based and lightweight.

Simply Argan Cleanser* | £24 | This is a really lovely cream cleanser and though it's billed as anti-aging, I just really like the nourishing texture. It does have a strong scent but I personally don't mind that at all. It doesn't feel heavy or thick on my skin (and doesn't leave any excess greasiness behind) but leaves it feeling plumped, soft and healthy. I like to use this as a second cleanse after removing my makeup or in the morning when I wake up and my skin just looks a bit tired or lacklustre. It really helps inject some life into dry, dull skin.
Ingredients include: Argan Oil, Lavender, Chamomile

Trilogy Cream Cleanser | £23.50 | I actually tried this ages ago but only purchased the full-sized bottle a month or two ago. This again comes in a handy pump packaging which is great for busy mornings. It has an almost lotion-like texture which is great for giving my combination skin some intensive hydration without suffocating my pores. Overall I really like this cleanser and how clean it leaves my skin without stripping it. It puts the moisture back in without overloading my skin with oils.
Ingredients include: Rosehip Seed Oil, Aloe Vera, Vitamin C, Jojoba Oil

Toners

As far as toners go; I tend to use a spray in the morning and then a more traditional toner in the evening (for the sake of convenience and time-saving!) During the winter months I need something that's going to really lock the hydration into my skin.

Simply Argan Toner* | £22 | This is my 'traditional' toner of choice - after I use the cleanser from this range in the evening, I soak some of this in a cotton pad and wipe it over my face. It really helps my skin retain the moisture from the cleanser and also when I apply a night cream. It's generally quite hard to find toners that are moisturising as opposed to astringent, so if you have this problem and most toners are too much for your dry skin then try this out.
Ingredients include: Argan Oil, Lavender

Caudalie Grape Water | £6 (75ml) | I used this so much last year and it's already made a return to my skincare lineup! If you have dry, sensitive skin that's prone to redness and rashes in cold weather then you have to try this product. It's so soothing on angry skin plus feels refreshing whilst giving lasting hydration. When my skin flared up really badly back in January I carried this in my handbag and it was so good at relieving the irritation during the day without ruining my makeup.
Ingredients include: 100% Organic Grape Water

Masks & Treatments

Pixi Nourishing Sleep Mask | £18 | This is already a firm favourite, though I only picked it up last month, and I've been reaching for it whenever my skin has been looking dry or dull. The cream texture isn't too thick or greasy but still serves as an intensive treatment. It gives my skin such amazing hydration but doesn't break me out. Sometimes you use an overnight treatment and kind of forget you did because it doesn't make a noticeable difference, however I always see such an improvement in my skin after using this. It's so much softer, more nourished, more glowing and any dry patches are cleared up.
Ingredients include: Jojoba Oil, Lavender Oil

Avene Soothing Moisture Mask | £11.50 | I picked this up in anticipation of my cold-weather-sensitivty returning! I can't think of any wash-off hydrating face masks I own off the top of my (except perhaps the Antipodes Manuka Honey one) so I thought I'd give this a go. I'm a huge fan of Avene and this range is formulated for dry and sensitive skin. The formula has a light cream-gel texture and I've been really impressed with how soft and healthy my skin has been since I started using this. You just leave it on for 10-15 minutes and it doesn't harden, it just semi-absorbs into the skin, then you rinse off the excess.
Ingredients include: Avene Thermal Spring Water, Safflower Seed Oil

The Ordinary 100% Organic Cold-Pressed Rose Hip Seed Oil* | £9 | This is a fairly recent discovery but so far I'm really impressed so it's won a place in this post! Firstly, I have a huge haul from this brand coming up because the products are so innovative yet come at such an affordable price-point. However today we're talking this particular product. If you're a regular reader you'll know I'm a long-time fan of the Trilogy Rosehip oil, however they recently put up the price (which was pretty annoying) so this arrived on the scene at an opportune moment! So far I really like this; my only negatives are that it does take a little while to fully absorb (personally I use this before bed so will apply it before I settle down to read my book - this generally works pretty well for me because it will have sunk in by the time I go to sleep) and that the dropper you use to dispense the product doesn't work so well for a oil product (it's quite hard to stop it dripping out). However I really can't fault it given the effects and the price! It's lightweight enough not to clog my pores but leaves my skin looking and feeling nourished and healthy. I generally find rosehip oil amazing for fading blemish marks so I'll update you on that in my brand overview of the Ordinary (this probably won't be around until December given the amount of products I bought!)
Ingredients include: 100% Rose Canina Seed Oil

Caudalie Deep Cleansing Exfoliating Cream* | £20 | This is another quite new release but when it comes to scrubs; it's pretty easy to know if it's doing the job or not! Out of the two new Caudalie scrubs (which have just been released on Naturisimo), this is the intensive one! It's more of a 'once a week' product or one that I reach for when I can see my makeup is clinging to specific dry patches. From how it felt on my skin I thought it could potentially be a bit too rough, however once I rinsed it off, my skin wasn't red and didn't feel at all irritated. The exfoliating particles are mixed in with a cream formula which also helps to leave my skin soft and hydrated instead of stripped. It does an amazing job at combating stubborn dryness and leaves my skin looking fresh and radiant.
Ingredients include: Sunflower Seed Oil, Grape Extract

Caudalie Gentle Buffing Cream* | £20 | This is the more gentle alternative so is perfect if you have very sensitive skin or you're looking for something that's suitable for more regular use (my skin is fine with me using this every other day). This has a cream formula again but the particles are much finer and less heavy-duty. It isn't as effective at removing every little bit of dead skin as the other version however it still does the job on a normal slightly-dry-skin day.
Ingredients include: Jojoba Oil, Grape Seed Oil

Serums & Moisturisers

Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster Serum | £20 | I have been *obsessed* with this recently! It's a very light, fast-absorbing serum in this vibrant yellow-orange colour. It isn't an acid exfoliant but leaves my skin looking so vibrant, healthy and glowing. I picked this up when it was 1/3 off Hylamide at Boots so I'd check if the offer is still on when this post goes up, but honestly I'd repurchase it full price! When my skin is looking dull (which it often does during Autumn and Winter...), I know I can reach for this and it'll turn things around instantly.
Ingredient include: Melanin Hexapeptides, Radiance Peptide Complex, Raspberry Keto-Sugar

Avene Hydrance Optimale Serum | £17 | I've spoken about this serum a lot but I still thought it deserved another mention here. On the days I'm not using the Hylamide one, this is what I reach for. The water-based formula absorbs so well into my skin, plumping it up and giving my skin a healthy and glowing look. If you have shine-prone skin that's still in need of some hydration then definitely give this a go.
Ingredients include: Avene Thermal Water

La Roche-Posay Toleriane Ultra Fluid* | £17.50 | I'm actually going to need to repurchase this soon - it's another hero product that saw me through last winter. It can be used as either a serum or moisturiser and (although there's a specific night cream version) I often use it before bed. It's a very light cream texture; it's nothing heavy or rich at all. It just really moisturises the skin and is incredibly soothing if you're suffering from sensitivity.
Ingredients include: Shea Butter

Body

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil | £17 | For the body, I've been loving this oil. It's a dry oil so isn't slippery or greasy but if you suffer from extremely dry skin like me, it will really absorb into the skin to leave it soft and nourished. I also love the scent of it so much that I bought it in perfume form!
Ingredients include: Macademia Oil, Hazelnut Oil, Almond Oil

Nuxe Reve de Miel Lip Balm | £9.50 | I use this every night no matter what the season but I still felt it deserved a special mention here! In winter I sometimes get rough, dry patches on my lips that even a scrub can't fix, yet this always clears them up. It's so good that I hardly even need to use a scrub if I'm putting this on every night. It is a thick texture which is why I don't wear it during the day, however it doesn't feel uncomfortable at all.
Ingredients include: Honey, Shea Butter, Vitamin E

Nuxe Reve de Miel Hand and Nail Care | £11 | Yes, it's another one from Nuxe! Watch out for my brand overview of them which is coming very soon. This has the same beautiful honey fragrance as the lip balm and it's probably the best hand cream I've ever tried. I do really like the Body Shop ones but they leave my hands feeling quite slippery and greasy. This is as good (if not better) yet has a much lighter texture that absorbs in without leaving all that excess. It sorts out any dryness (which I get a lot in-between my fingers) and my hands are left soft and nourished for hours.
Ingredients include: Coconut Oil, Honey, Avocado Oil

  3. So intrigued by the Rosehip Oil, it sounds great! I'd love to take my skincare a bit more natural but I'm finding so much lavander in everything - it breaks me out horrendously! Some good recs in here though! x

  4. The Pixi Sleep Mask sounds great! I wonder if it wouldn't be too much for my oily skin though. Having oily skin is a pain in the summer but even more so in the winter, because it's hard to find the right balance between moisturising it and keeping it clean and matte. tHE Laroche-Posay Toleriane fluid sounds like it would work better for me, I'll have to look into that.

  8. Lovely picks as always and since my skin hates the cold as well, I've already taken a mental note of trying the Hylamide Glow Radiance Booster Serum and the LRP Tolerianne Ultra Fluid: considering the fact that LRP is one of my favourite skincare brand, I'm quite surprised I haven't tried it before!

  13. I really want to try out rosehip oil this winter. I have a bit of a love hate relationship with my skin at this time of the year because my skin is usually on the oilier side but once winter comes it dries up which is quite nice not having to blot my face every 5 minutes but also annoying having dry and patchy skin. haha!

  14. I LOVE Caudalie's Grape Water. I need to restock on that, but have been hesitant to buy it because they've increased the price since I last purchased it. Other than that, I rely a lot on pure oils to add hydration back into my skin.
