New Zoeva Spectrum Collection | Review & Swatches

When these two palettes from the brand new Zoeva Spectrum Collection came through my letterbox out of the blue, I did a little bit of a dance! I was kindly sent the Warm Spectrum Eyeshadow Palette* (£28.50) and Coral Spectrum Blush Palette* (£15) a few weeks ahead of the launch on the 11th.

The Spectrum Collection will launch with 3 eyeshadow palettes (containing 15 shades) and 3 blush palettes (containing 4 shades). Each of the eyeshadow palettes matches with each of the blush palettes so Warm Spectrum and Coral Spectrum pair together with Cool Spectrum being the eye palette for the Pink Spectrum blushes and the two Nude Spectrum palettes complimenting each other. The packaging is sleek and stylist, which makes the palettes really travel-friendly, though the matte black does tend to catch fingerprints.

Warm Spectrum

Overall I really like this palette; although it's a warm palette it isn't just nudes, there are a few but there are also some nice pops of colour in there. It doesn't quite topple my all-time favourite Zoeva palette, Cocoa Blend, but the quality is really nice. Apart from the couple of shades I mention further down, the pigmentation is very good. The matte shades have a creamy, easily blended formula and the shimmers apply so nicely. They don't kick up too much fallout and wear well throughout the day, not fading much or going all muddy and merged-together on my eyelids. There are 32 shades with a good balance of mattes and shimmers.

The palette starts with two matte white shades. The only downside I found with this palette is that I  really don't think it needs three matte shades that are all a variation of white, especially given (as you can probably see) the only one with good pigmentation is WR130. I really don't find myself using WR100 or WR140 as they aren't as good and have the same purpose, so it would've been nicer to have had two other shades in their place.

WR070 is a really good dupe for MAC's Expensive Pink; a pinky nude with a golden sheen. Although WR040 is outside my comfort zone, I was really excited to try it as Amelia Liana mentioned on YouTube that a bright orange makes for a really good crease shade. I actually agree! I wore WR150 across the lid, this in the crease and then deepen the crease further with WR060 and I really like the look. In the pan, again I didn't think WR010 would be my thing as all as it looks so glittery, however the texture is so much nicer than I thought and it actually applies as a gorgeous duo chrome plummy-brown perfect for the outer v if you want to do a nude smoky eye.

As I mentioned, I wasn't much of a fan of WR140, however WR110 is a really nice, dramatic highlight as it contains a shimmer. I'm already loving pairing WR080 and WR050 together as I've been in love with plummy purple shades on the eyes this winter. WR050 is more of an amethyst shimmer whereas WR080 is a deeper plum matte with hints of brown that's amazing for defining the crease. WR020 is a matte grey, so I don't reach for it all the time as I personally prefer warmer tones, however the quality is still really good and it works well as a crease shade.

WR150 is one of my most-used shades in this palette, a sort of champagne gold shimmer that you can use for a subtle inner corner highlight or as a lid shade. WR120 is another go-to as it's that perfect not-too-warm, not-too-cool matte mid-brown crease colour (a la MAC Cork). WR090 is a more vivid purple matte shade, which I sometimes use lightly in the crease with WR050. WR060 is a deeper matte brown that works nicely for defining the crease more. WR030 is a matte black. This always seems to be the shade in any palette I don't use that much (I've never found one where the pigmentation was that great) but this works on a Zoeva Wing Liner brush to define the lash line. Also WR030, WR060 and WR120 are all suitable shades to use in your eyebrows.

Coral Spectrum

The Coral Spectrum Blush Palette contains 1 shimmer and 3 matte shades. I've tried their single blushes and loved them so I was really excited to try this. The packaging is so sleek and compact and contains 4 gorgeous shades. I took this away with me for Christmas and it had just about everything I needed. For me this is the absolute highlight of the collection (having taken a look at the other products) so if you only buy one thing, make it this! The quality is just incredible. The pigmentation of the swatches really does speak for itself! They apply so nicely without being much effort and they last me the day without fading significantly or going patchy. I also love the colours, as they're pink-toned corals that are perfect for warmer skin tones that don't suit more conventional pinks.

CR030 is probably my most reached-for. If you've ever found Nars Orgasm just that bit too shimmery or light and peachy then this will be perfect for you. It's a deeper coral shade that has a gorgeous golden sheen to it that isn't too much at all, just adding a nice glow to the skin.

CR010 is a bright pink-coral matte. Although it's super-pigmented, I just swirl my brush around lightly and tap off any excess to get the right amount of product for a daytime-appropriate look.

CR040 is my least-used as it's just a bit light. It's a peachy-coral matte nude that's better suited to fairer skin tones, however I've found that mixing a bit of this with CR010 or CR020 is the perfect way to tone them down a little if you want a more subtle look.

CR020 is a light coral-pink matte (I imagine Barbie's blusher is this colour!) It's a really pretty shade for a natural makeup look and I can imagine myself using this a lot when Spring comes around.

The Spectrum Collection will launch on Zoeva's Website on Monday 11th January.

Update: These are now on BeautyBay so I've updated the links and UK prices!

  5. The eye palette interests me more than the blush simply because of the plum shades! I heard Zoeva's eyeshadows can be powdery but I'm glad that's not seem to be the case with this one. Thank you for helpful review as always.

  22. I like the look of that palette but I still think for my first Zoeva palette I'll probably go for something like the Cocoa Blend. I haven't actually tried any Zoeva shadows before but I have bought a couple palettes for my friends because I know they're well loved!

  23. I am a big fan of Zoeva and I adore their eyeshadows so I can't wait to traet myself to one of the palettes. But I'm surprised how much more expensive they are considering the other palettes contain 10 eyeshadows but cost only half the price! The blush palette looks really nice too. x

  24. Saw these new palettes briefly on Instagram so it's great to see swatches and hear more about them here. :) They're so pretty! I'm specially drawn to the eyeshadow palette. The shades are lovely but I agree with you that they didn't need to add so many variations of white shades. I also don't like that instead of names they have numbers. xx
