November Favourites

I’m not even going to say the whole ‘I can’t believe another month has passed!’ thing but wow at there only being one more Favourites post between now and 2016. I managed to reel in my spending quite a bit this month (it’s a gradual process…) but I do still have plenty of favourites for you.

I’m so glad this product was worth all the hype that surrounds it! It’s honestly cleared up my skin so much this month and leaves it feeling so clean but not dried out. I also love the consistency as it does the job without being too thick or difficult to remove.

I’m not sure why I never connected the dots with the packaging of the Smoothie Star products being the same as my favourite Soap & Glory Products (Whipped Clean and Rich and Foamous) but I’ve been missing out! This month I picked up the scrub and the body lotion, which both have the same gorgeous, yummy, indulgent scent. The scrub is so effective without being too harsh and honestly smells like maple syrup, pancakes, porridge, bananas…just all the heavenly breakfast goodness!

I was definitely dubious about this as it really doesn’t look like your classic foundation brush, however the excellent reviews swayed me, and I wasn’t disappointed! This honestly strokes on your base in the loveliest way possible. I’d got into applying my Nars tinted moisturiser with my fingers but this just does it 10 times better.

In all honesty, I picked this up without realising how pricey it was! Otherwise I may not have gone ahead and got it… I know it’s stupid but I assumed that with the foundation costing £29 a concealer would be less. But, anyway, I really like this product (though I’m not sure I’d buy it again at that price). I never really ‘got’ the whole YSL Touche Elcat thing but I’d heard good things about this. One end is an eye cream that’s really nice and hydrating and the other is one of those concealer/highlighter hybrids. I feel like this has a little more coverage that Touche Eclat but I still wear a corrector and a touch of concealer underneath. Shade 3 is pretty much spot-on for me as it’s brightening without being too much lighter than the rest of my face.

Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey | £21

I've wanted this highlighter for SO long! I think I've genuinely been trying to get hold of it since about August but Laura Geller Beauty were having supply issues. Anyway, this month it finally came back on Feel Unique so I snapped it up and it was well worth the wait. It's a pure gold shade that looks so naturally radiant and beautiful on the skin. If you couldn't get hold of the ABH Illuminator in So Hollywood, this is pretty similar so definitely check it out. I think this brand is so underrated and I've tried a few things I love from them so will definitely be doing a round-up soon.

FINALLY! November: the month Champagne Pop was mine, after so much umming and ahhing! I can see the golden-champagne with a hint of peach suiting so many skin tones, and I think that’s partly why this product has been so universally lauded. It has the most beautiful, smooth, easy-to-blend texture of any highlighter I own. There are no big bits of glitter or anything you just get a gorgeous dewy glow. If you don't want to do a Sephora order then don't worry; it's coming to Space NK soon!

This favourites post is pretty much a repetition of my Sephora haul, it seems! I'm sure the other products will crop up in a favourites post too once I've had longer to test them. When I first saw this shade, I knew I was going to love it. It’s almost as though it was made for me; a long-lasting, non-patchy, pigmented, easy to apply formula in that perfect mauve-y plum colour. It’s sort of like a matte equivalent to my holy grail Hourglass Mood Exposure and I love it!

It was really hard to choose just one thing from my NYX haul to include in my favourites but the standout product for me was the blush. It has the nicest formula that's so easy to apply and blend, as well as lasting me all day without going patchy. Amber is the perfect deeper peach matte for everyday wear.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes | £5.50

When an amazing NYX department opened up in my local Boots, I rushed back out to swatch everything. One of the products I picked up was their Soft Matte Lip Cream in Cannes. Online I wasn't sure if this would be a little 'concealer lips' on me so it was great to be able to see all the shades in person and Cannes is actually my perfect pinky-brown nude. It's so comfortable on the lips, not drying them out at all, but it's still so long-lasting.

The Balm Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long-Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Committed | £13.50

Can you tell I really got into liquid lipsticks this month? Another brand that landed in Manchester this month was the Balm in our newly re-vamped Superdrug. Committed is also a pinky-brown nude (though leans more towards brown than Cannes) but it's even longer-lasting than Cannes and the formula definitely feels a little different. I genuinely wore this for over 5 hours, ate and drank and looked in the mirror and it was still in place so I really couldn't not include this in my favourites too.

What have been your favourites this month and what do you think of mine?

  5. Ahh I LOVE the Smoothie Star Breakfast Scrub! I first used their sugar crush one, that brown sugar and lime in it. But then when I smelt and used this one, I was amazed. It literally smells good enough to eat and you're right, is so effective.

  6. So many amazing favourites, Jasmine! Love Tarte Exposed too and how similar it is to Mood Exposure, those two are my favourite kinds of shades. You might also like Too Faced Love Flush Blush in Baby Love, it's along the same lines and it's one of my current loves! :) xx

  7. Lovely picks ! I really want to try the Balm as a whole brand but especially their liquid lipstick and the shade you describe sounds right up my street! The whole Sephora Pro range of brushes is amazing, in my opinion, they even beat Mac's brushes!

  13. Ooh, the Laura Geller highlighter looks beautiful! Is it an all-over powder or is it intended to highlight specific areas?
And I totally feel you on the "trying not to spend money" bit. It's so difficult! But I've recently been able to lay out a monthly budget for myself and look at all of my monthly expenses. I was spending so much money on things that weren't necessary, makeup/skincare especially!
Looking at all of these Black Friday hauls and monthly favorite posts is just killing me!
