It finally happened: I did a Sephora order! I’ve been dying to do one for so long but this month I took the plunge and went for it. I’m going to tell you all about the ordering process and the products I picked up.
Sephora have a flat £6 shipping rate to the UK if you spend
more than £85, however that does not include tax. Tax is calculated at the
checkout though, so you know exactly how much you owe and you pay it there and
then. Obviously the tax is a percentage of the value of the goods you’ve
purchased so for me there was a bit of a balancing act between ordering enough
to get the £6 shipping but not ordering so much that the proportionate tax was
really high. In the end I ordered £100 worth of products, paid £19 of tax and
£6 for the shipping. My order arrived through DHL without any fuss on the
following Thursday after I ordered on the Sunday; not bad at all!
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed | $28
I love Tarte's blush formula and whilst QVC UK did stock a tiny handful of shades at one point, they seem to have discontinued them. Exposed had my name written all over it as it's a deep plummy-mauve matte shade and if you're a regular, you'll know that's kind of my M.O.
On first impressions, the formula is just as pigmented and long-lasting as the shade I already have (Captivating). I find Tarte blushes so easy to apply, especially compared to other matte formulas. They don't go on patchy and crucially they don't fade or go uneven throughout the day. I have a feeling Exposed is going to be a firm favourite.
Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop | $38
For the longest flipping time I was trying to get my hands on Becca's Opal Pressed Shimmering Skin Perfector and ended up buying both the original and poured versions along the way... However it still seems to be having supply issues. In the meantime, along came Champagne Pop. I must admit its Limited Edition status nudged me to do this order sooner rather than later. I have heard a lot of people say their's arrived smashed so I was apprehensive, but luckily mine was fine (though Sephora's wrapping and packaging was definitely not adequate, in my opinion).
The texture of this water-based formula is so beautiful that although it's a powder it almost feels like a cream. The shade itself is a champagne-gold with hints of peach. I've heard people liken it to a cross between their permanent shades Moonstone and Opal. It's slightly more peachy than I'd usually go for but I have to say this could well be my perfect highlighter. It's so blend-able on the skin and although it's very much a 'woo look at me' highlighter, you can get a more subtle everyday look by using a fan brush.
Bite Beauty Butter Cream Lipstick in Rosewood | $28
I've wanted to try something from Bite Beauty for ages, and although everyone raves about their matte formula, none of the shades were calling out to me. However the colour selection in the Butter Cream formula was much more my sort of thing and I eventually settled on Rosewood (a rosy plum nude shade). I love the little 'Hand Cut' sticker; the concept is that the most moisturising part of the lipstick is partway in so this is cut at the perfect point. A little bit gimmicky but I'm that weird person that prefers a flat lipstick bullet anyway.
The formula is so nice and creamy yet still pigmented. It has a sheen on the lips and feels very hydrating and nourishing. Rosewood is a great everyday shade I can see myself getting a lot of use out of.
Sephora Cream Lip Stain in 13 Marvellous Mauve | $14
I've heard so much about the Sephora Cream Lip Stains and it was a painful decision between getting one of these and getting one of the Kat Von D ones (as I said, I really didn't want to pay any more customs!) This shade, Marvellous Mauve, is what tipped me. Again it's is classic me, being a gorgeous deep, vibrant mauve.
This is seriously one of the most long-lasting lip products I've ever tried! You could easily apply it before a night out, eat and drink and not have to reapply it. It sits comfortably on the lips; though it has a matte finish it really doesn't feel drying. I can't wait to get my hands on more shades!
Sephora Collection Pro Airbrush #55 | $34
I couldn't not pick up one of Sephora's own makeup brushes, as I don't think I've ever owned one but I've heard so many great things. The Pro Airbrush #55 seemed to be a popular choice and I'm always after something that will give me flawless foundation. It's definitely different to the foundation brushes I usually go for, which is what attracted me to it. It looks pretty much like a powder brush and the bristles are super-soft. Although I don't own a powder foundation, I will be trying this with some other powder products. So far though, I'm loving this for applying liquid bases. It gives such an amazing, flawless finish in a few sweeps and is already becoming my favourite brush to use with light bases.

So there you have it: my first ever Sephora haul. And I'm already planning my next...
What do you think of my haul? Which Sephora products do you want to get your hands on?
Yey, you got Champagne Pop! The Sephora Cream Lip Stains are amazing, I do find that the Kat Von D's go on a little smoother but there isn't a huge difference between the two formulas I don't think. I really want to try some more of Tarte's blush products - I got a deluxe sample as part of a set with a lip crayon but the blush is a bit too glittery for me. Definitely need to make an order as I didn't realise the shipping is so quick!
ReplyDeleteAmy | The Beauty Post
Awesome haul! How beautiful is Champagne Pop?!?! I got the little trio palette and I'm obsessed with it. I definitely think I need to buy a full size before they're all gone x
ReplyDeleteThe Beauty Bloss
Ooooh, Marvelous Mauve looks gorgeous! Love a good Sephora order :)
ReplyDeleteLaurzrah
Nice! I'm not sure if you're into red lipsticks (they would look great on your colouring!) and I know everyone bangs on about it, but the Sephora lip cream in Always Red is MUST HAVE. I've abandoned pretty much every other red I own since getting my hands on it x
ReplyDeleteThe Beauty Locker
I'm not normally that into red but I'm definitely open to trying to find the perfect shade for me so thanks, I'll check it out next time :) xx
DeleteI ordered from them last year and shipping was SO fast x
ReplyDeleteHeather | Of Beauty & Nothingness x
I have ordered from Sephora before and was really impressed. I really want some Tarte blushers and also the JH highlighter but I just can afford it right now...boo!
ReplyDeletePams Stuff and Things
I have yet to place a Sephora order but am forever adding products to my basket! That blush looks stunning! I love Champagne Pop! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautylymin
Ooh Marvellous Mauve looks like a shade I would adore! Great picks on your Sephora order - I have the same shade as the Tarte blush with you and I absolutely love it! xx
ReplyDeleteThe Girl From the North
Bite Rosewood looks bloody gorgeous!! And of course Champagne Pop looks stunning! I've not ordered from Sephora but I do have one of their makeup brushes that I picked up in a blog sale and I love it :)
ReplyDeleteI'm impressed the shipping was so quick!

I was impressed too, it's so fuss free my mind has been put at ease and I will definitely be doing another when I can :) xx
DeleteI have seen many Sephora hauls and most seems to purchase a minimum of £100. :)
ReplyDeleteChampagne Pop looks magnificent. I want to get my hands on it so badly!

ReplyDeleteAmy / srslylou
Oh love what you got! I definitely take Sephora for granted come to think of it haha, glad you were able to get a haul in. I picked up the Bite lipstick in Pecan, looove the formula - it's definitely very comfortable to wear. I hope you get to try the Kat Von D liquid lipstick next time! I finally picked them up and they blew my expectations, much prefer them to any others I've tried. Definitely try and get one or two in your next haul :)
ReplyDeleteCindy | www.cindyhyue.com
You got so many of my favorites! The only thing I haven't tried is that Bite lipstick, but it looks like a gorgeous shade. I'm so glad you're loving Tarte's Exposed :)

You were a major enabler of that purchase ;) xx

ReplyDeleteSara - She Who Is Short
Thank you so much for doing this! I've been looking for experiences of Sephora hauls in the UK for ages as I was worried about making an order and being disappointed or being charged too much. I think I'll be waiting until after Christmas to pick up a few bits. I'm definitely eager to get Champagne Pop, I can't find Opal anywhere! Love the colours of everything you picked out, I'm a big fan of mauve/dusty rose shades. x
ReplyDeleteMegan | http://www.meganjean.co.uk
I always forget Sephora isn't in the UK, I have no idea why. I think they'd make crazy money over there.
ReplyDeleteSephora always seems to have stocking issues with Becca highlighters. The first time I bought Opal I had to go to five different stores because it was sold out everywhere and online. The only way I got it was by attending the grand opening of a new Sephora store (and lucky me it broke in my purse a few days later, lol). I think I'm going to try Topaz next, though.
The Bite beauty lipsticks are some of my favorites. That whole line is amazing. If you order again try Marzipan, it's a hand cut one as well. Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
Z · HELLOZAUNI.COM
I'm guessing because it was in the UK for a while but wasn't very successful, they aren't very keen to bring it back despite the beauty industry being completely different to how it was a decade ago!
DeleteAlso the Becca Opal thing was Becca's supply issue as it was the same on Cult Beauty and in Space NK, though they finally have it back now :) xx
Although it's pricey the Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush sounds absolutely marvelous. Have a happy weekend!! :]

I don't think I'd order online but I've been to a Sephora store in NYC and it was amazing!

It sounds like you had a pretty good first time with Sephora! So glad your Champagne Pop arrived safely. I adore Tarte blushes too, they are just the tops! Those lip shades are gorgeous. Now I just want to shop, Jasmine! haha

I love Champagne Pop! I have Marvelous Mauve but I hate it, it looks too pale on me, just like KVD's Lolita...among the other Sephora Lip Creams, I have Strawberry Kissed and Always Red which I like way better

That is a great haul and wow, I really need to swatch Marvellous Mauve again, I don't remember it being that pretty! I adore BITE Beauty lipsticks in general, they are one of the creamiest and most hydrating I owned.
ReplyDeleteShireen | Reflection of Sanity
WOW! That swatch of Champagne Pop! Incredible *_* I wonder how long these will be around for, I wish limited ed meant available for two years, I would love to get my hands on that! Also Rosewood is a stunning shade ^_^

Lovely picks ! I absolutely love the Sephora pro airbrush range! The number 56 is my favorite one to apply foundation, it is like a mix between a flat and a buffing brush!
ReplyDeletehttps://fannyanddailybeauty.wordpress.com/
I keep thinking of ordering from Sephora but the taxes scares me a bit :) But considering everything is a bit cheaper in US it might be worth taking the plunge. I have Marvellous Mauve and it's gorgeous and I can't fault the formula! x
ReplyDeleteMummy’s Beauty Corner
I wouldn't bother to get products you can get in the UK as I'm not convinced their any cheaper once tax and shipping are added in but it's perfect for brands/specific products you can't get here :) xx
DeleteLucky you! I love a good Sephora order and the products you picked are all gorgeous. Champagne Pop is so highly raved online at the moment. Bite Rosewood's shade is gorgeous! Xx

That Rosewood shade looks divine! When I read "Bite Rosewood', I don't know why but I immediately thought of vampires and the shade colour just played the part in formulating that image. I need to stop watching supernatural shows...

To be honest I wasn't too fussed as in the US they add tax on after the price on the product even if you're over there a lot of the time! I was just glad it told me upfront so I knew what I was getting into :) xx

I have the Sephora Cream lip stain and the brush #55 and love both but I always shop in Sephora when I travel around Europe. Haven't bothered online yet because I find it annoying that we have to order at least £85 in one go (before tax) to get the £6 shipping.
ReplyDeleteI've recently got Becca Opal (since I couldn't get Champagne Pop) and I'm obsessed!! So pretty! x

I wish we had Sephora here in the UK! I am dying to get my hands on more Tarte products as they're so hyped up, that blush is such a gorgeous shade too, perfect for this time of year. After seeing your swatch of the Becca Champagne Pop I am dying to make a Sephora order, that is absolutely beauitful and I am looking for a powder highlight as I just can't find one I like.
