December Favourites

It's time for my last monthly favourites of 2015. December was a fairly restrained month again (hopefully I'm making a habit of this!) which is sort of better when it comes to favourites as it means it was really easy for me to pick out the highlights.

This was actually passed onto me by my aunt, who got it in a set of two for the other shade. I'm a bit confused as it doesn't seem to be available individually and the set on QVC seems to contain 'Downtown Brown' whereas mine definitely says 'Downtown Cafe'! That aside, if you can get hold of it, this is a gorgeous lipstick. The 'sculpting' shape of it makes it so easy to apply this perfectly without the help of a liner. I love the pigmented yet creamy, moisturising formula. The pinky-brown nude is just perfect for me as well.

I'm a little confused (again!) that the website says these are now a tenner as I'm 100% sure they were £8 each at most when I bought this. It's a shame as it's lovely and I do think I want more shades! The formula is so soft and gives a real radiance to the skin. you wouldn't think it from the pan but once applied it's definitely similar in finish to the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes. It's a gorgeous apricot-pink shade that I know I'll be obsessed with for spring.

Makeup Geek Eyeshadows | £4.95 each for Standard Pans, £7.95 each for Foiled Pans | post

For me, the absolute beauty highlight of this month was getting my hands on Makeup Geek eyeshadows! Finally there's an easy, affordable way to build your own palette from a huge array of shades. I won't go on about the individual shades too much as there are loads of pictures, swatches and in-depth reviews of every single one in the post but these were SO worth the hype for me. The quality of these eyeshadows is incredible in terms of pigmentation, texture and longevity.

I wasn't going to include this as it's a fairly recent purchase and most of this month has been all about Makeup Geek for me, however it's just so pretty and I love the quality of Zoeva eyeshadows. The shades aren't anything revolutionary but they're just the sort of neutrals I reach for on a day-to-day basis with a nice mix of mattes and shimmers.

Here are some swatches of the products I've not yet done a blog post on:

I've honestly never bothered much with false lashes but recently I've got really into them for nights out. I do really love the Ardell Demi-Wispies too but unfortunately don't have an intact pack of them with me right now. My other favourite has been these lashes by Fleur de Force, which are perfect if you want long, glamorous lashes but nothing too scary or unnatural.

On Black Friday a Lookfantastic discount code came through to my email address and it was only ever going to end one way! I'd heard so much about Tweezerman that I couldn't resist picking up this mini set with two types of tweezers: your more traditional slanted edge and a sharper, more pointed set. I hold my hands up and admit that I've been converted and wish I'd tried these sooner! The slanted set are great and the sharper set are perfect for getting at those hard-to-reach strays.

I've had to bump back my monthly Skincare on Trial post with all the festive blogging I've been doing, but I will post a full review on this next month. I've never really loved a night cream but I'm a huge fan of this. It's really nice and nourishing and leaves my skin so soft without being too rich or heavy. Perfect for dehydrated winter skin!

For so long, I've heard amazing things about rosehip oil and on Black Friday I was just about to splurge on Pai's when I saw this affordable option from Trilogy with amazing reviews. This has honestly made such a difference to my skin and it's such a bargain. My skin looks and feels more hydrated, healthier, brighter and clearer with scars reduced. This has become a must-have for me and if you've been wanting to try rosehip, it's a great place to start.

Lush Rose Jam Shower Gel | £4.95 (100g)

I'm definitely picking up a full size of this on Boxing Day as this has been a surprise love for me. As you might expect the scent is a gorgeous blend of rose and jam that isn't the sort of thing I'd usually go for at all but it's gorgeous! It's no Hot Toddy of Christmas '14 but I love it almost as much. I think it's sold out now but they seem to bring it back every year.

Why did I never question those 'wet' heat protection sprays? Since trying this I've not looked back once! It adds shine to my hair whilst protecting it from heat damage and allowing stylers to glide over my hair without pulling on it.

  17. I have very dry skin no thanks to winter so I'm currently using Palmer's Facial oil which has retinol in it and has been absolutely brilliant for my skin. Once I'm done with that, I'm going to try Trilogy Rosehip oil, I like how reasonable the price is.
