The
Balm is one of those brands that (despite the legendary Mary Loumanizer) can
fly under the radar. Last month the Balm landed in my local Superdrug, which
made it so much more visible and accessible to me. I’ve tried a few products
from them now and thought I’d spread the love!
The Mary Loumanizer | £17.50
I
have to start with my first ever product from the Balm which was the blogger favourite: Mary
Loumanizer. This is the most stunning champagne-gold highlighter. The texture
is so smooth, soft and easy to blend (though this can be a negative, as mine
unfortunately smashed!) It’s also one of the most intensely pigmented
highlighters I own, though I still use it in the daytime with a fan brush. I
love how it delivers on the glow without a speck of glitter. From fair skin to
deeper skin, this is as universally-flattering as a highlighter is going to
get!
Fratboy Blush | £15.50
I’d looked at this blusher, I’d Googled swatches but I still wasn’t convinced this would suit my skin tone, so I made a beeline for it when the Balm opened a stand in Manchester’s Superdrug. It turns out it does work for me, though I’m not sure how it would look for a deeper skintone than my own. It has a really nice pigmented matte powder formula that applies subtly and can easily be blended in and built on. It’s a peachy-pink colour that’s perfect for everyday and I will definitely get a lot of wear out of when Spring comes round.
Instain in Houndstooth | £20.50
This is a gorgeous bright mauve shade (also a powder). Although the 'stain' name seems a tad gimmicky, the formula is so pigmented and long-lasting. It applies amazingly and blends out with ease. It doesn't go patchy throughout the day and the colour is perfect for winter.
The BalmShelter Tinted Moisturiser | £19.50
This was actually passed onto me by my mum as it was the wrong colour for her. It isn't perfect on me (it's a bit too neutral for my warm skin tone) but once I've added in concealer and done a bit of BeautyBlender-ing, it definitely works. I absolutely love the formula of this; it's light, non-greasy, gives decent coverage and is long-wearing. My face doesn't get too shiny, though it's still nicely hydrating. It looks very much like skin but evens out my skin tone and perfects my complexion. Best of all it lasts me the day and doesn't reduce my face to an oil slick! This is well worth checking out as a cheaper alternative to my much-loved Nars Pure Radiance Tinted Moisturiser.
This is quite a runny stain-like formula unlike the creamier liquid lipsticks I've tried. When it sets it still doesn't feel drying at all and gives the look of a matte liquid lipstick. Committed is a gorgeous deep blush pink with hints of brown nude. This is one of the most long-lasting lip products I've ever tried; it's seriously amazing and the shade is just perfect for everyday wear.
The amount of products I want from the balm is ridiculous!

I was visiting Guildford the other weekend and I noticed the Balm stand in the Superdrug there but there was almost nothing left on it...sad times! As I really want to try everything and the liquid lipstick looks stunning :)

Committed is just stunning! xx
DeleteTo be honest I usually overlook the balm as well, I think the packaging throws me off a little because some of their packaging can be a little kooky at times. It sounds like they have some really great products though so I may have to stop and actually take a closer look at their stock one day.

I've only tried the liquid lipstick and I have it in shade Committed too and I adore it! I've also tried a couple of the eyeshadows which are nice but nothing to shout about in my opinion. I have yet to pick up the highlighter but it's definitely on my list because so many seems to adore it.

I'd love to try out the liquid lipsticks but they smell like mint and I'm not about that! I love the fratboy blush, and the 3 Lou-Manizer sisters ;)

I love Frat Boy & Mary-Lou too. I also have Hot Mama blush (similar to Nars Orgasm but less less shimmery) & Bahama Mama bronzer and I love them both. I also love Nude Tude palette. Next on my list is that lipstick because it is stunning! xx

I recently found the Balm at my local Superdrug but a lot of it was already sold out! I swatched the highlighter and it's so beautiful, I want to give the tinted moisturiser a go too :)
ReplyDeleteVelvet Blush
Great post, I've only tried the highlighters and I'm dying to try more!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try the other highlighters! xx
DeleteFratboy looks such a lovely shade. I've only used the Mary Loumanizer for a couple of months but it's quickly became my favourite highlighter. I've heard great things about their primer too, that's next on my thebalm wishlist

Every time I see The Balm at Superdrug, Mary Lou-Manizer is always missing, with the sales associate saying it has been stolen...every time! I won't purchase it without a single swatch though. :/
ReplyDeleteAngie | Chocolate & Lipstick | Beauty, Fashion & Lifestyle Blog
It's funny you should say that as it's the exact same in the two Superdrugs where I live! If it makes you feel more confident purchasing without swatching: I've never met anyone who hasn't liked the shade xx
DeleteI am totally swooning over this post! Such gorgeous picks Jasmine ^_^
ReplyDeleteI have adored the Mart-Lou for almost three years now and I'm not surprised its almost always out of stock to be honest! That matte blush fratboy looks stunning :) I've tried their cream foundation and found myself surprisingly liking it despite not really getting into cream foundations before and I also have tried their pencil eyeliner which again didn't disappoint - such a consistently brilliant brand with the CUTEST packaging!

I saw those on your blog - definitely need to have a look for them :) xx
DeleteI ordered a few products from the balm on cyber monday while they had a great deal. I've been wanting to try their products for the longest time, and I'm quite impressed with the Mary-Lou Manizer highlighter. Their products are so worth the hype.
ReplyDeletePerfect Shade of Mauve

Since getting the Mary Loumanizer I have wanted to try more from The Balm especially now that they are stocked in Superdrug! I love the look of Committed, I’m just gutted my local Superdrug doesn’t stock the liquid lipsticks - so think I may need to order this online :)
ReplyDeleteCharlee XO | CharmedCharlee
Mine didn't have any testers out so I may as well have ordered it online - the gamble paid off though and I love it xx
