Seriously Underrated | Seventeen Cosmetics*

Seventeen tends to fly under the radar but Boots’s own-brand (kind of No7’s little sister) has had its packaging re-vamped in recent years and I don’t think one of their products has ever disappointed me! I received a few bits to try out so I thought I’d share my absolute favourite Seventeen products with you.

Define & Conquer Contour Kit* | £5.99

This was the product I was most excited to try! I have the medium shade in this and it's pretty much spot on. I find the powders to be such a nice texture; they're very smooth, apply evenly and are easy to blend. The payoff is there but it's not too intense so for a beginner especially this is a great place to start as you can't really go wrong. As opposed to a shimmery highlighter you get a sort of banana-toned powder which has only the tiniest bit of sheen to it. I find this perfect for setting my under-eye concealer. The contouring powder is definitely on the warmer side but it is completely matte so creates a very natural illusion of shadow on the face.

I honestly wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did and I’m usually sceptical when products allege to be ‘2 in 1’s but this massively proved me wrong. On the skin this looks so beautiful and dewy, plus the formula is amazingly creamy and effortless to apply. For the face I tend to swirl my brush around in the pan but on the eyes I take the shades individually. I think these actually look beautiful on the eyes as they’re so pigmented and have a lovely natural sheen. I loved this whilst I was on holiday over Summer and I knew it was cheap but it wasn't until I looked up the price for this post that I was reminded what amazing value this is.

Eye Eye Mono Shadows in Ivory* and Brown* | £3.89 each

I'm not a big wearer of single eyeshadows but these are well worth checking out! Ivory is a matte-look off-white shade (I want to say it has the tiniest sheen). It doesn't have the most intense payoff but the texture is really creamy so it's the perfect base shade. Brown is a lovely brown-bronze shimmer that's not too cool or too warm, it's kind of in a similar vein to Maybelline's On & On Bronze, which I of course love. This shade is so pigmented and again the texture is lovely; I find it so easy to apply and it lasts nicely throughout the day.

Lip Crayon in Heartbreaker* | £4.99

I do love my Clinique Chubby Sticks but £17 for a coloured balm product is a bit much. So many brands have brought out cheaper alternatives but I'd never tried Seventeen's. I honestly think that this is practically the same thing! It's really nice and hydrating on the lips and I really like the colour payoff as it makes a bright, deep berry shade so much more wearable. If you love that bitten blackcurrant look then this is for you as it's a great way to make that kind of shade daytime-appropriate. Obviously they're not the longest-lasting lip product but I wouldn't expect something like this to be. They don't have many shades in this but hopefully there are more on the way!

This mascara definitely needs more buzz as I love the long-separated false lash effect it gives. It’s probably not the best for volume but I love the rubber wand and how easily it hooks onto my lashes. I’ve never actually tried Clinique’s Bottom Lash mascara but this is essentially my equivalent to it as the formula with the shape/size of the wand makes it perfect for bottom lashes.

    1. I haven't picked it up as iridescent/pinky highlighters don't really suit me but I did get the Tan version and it works really nicely :) xx

  3. I'm definitely guilty of overlooking Seventeen usually - I tend to just walk past the stand without even registering it. I bought a couple of lipsticks from them recently and was really impressed though (they have really cool packaging too, there's a mini mirror that slides out :o). Totally a brand that deserves a bit more love!

  4. I have to admit that I always skim by Seventeen when perusing the aisles of Boots, I always assumed they were targeted at teenagers and people in their early twenties. I won a Seventeen goody bag a year or two ago and loved what was included and STILL skim past them in the shop. I am going to rectify this after reading your post, I really need to try the lip crayon and eyeshadows as they look amazing!

  7. Seventeen definitely look a lot better these days than when I was a teenager. The much-needed facelift they've got has done wonders! The products look a lot more sophisticated now.

  8. I also love the shimmering brick, although it's a bit too shimmery for my liking to use it during the day but for an evening look is gorgeous! x

  12. I have been loving the Define and Contour kit! I love the fact it's a matte highlight powder too, I get way more use out of it than shimmers! The payoff from the eyeshadows looks great too, especially the brown one!

  14. I love the Mono eye shadows from Seventeen - very under-rated, I think. I used to love a lip liner from Seventeen & then they discontinued it :-( Would like to try that mascara! xx

  18. I love the Falsifeye HD mascara! Totally agree that it isn't the best for volume. I tend to use L'Oreal Telescopic for my top lashes and then this for my bottom lashes!xx

  30. I agree with you Jasmine! I think seventeen are often overlooked because they're known to be for a younger audience, however the quality is awesome! I bought the contour highlight duo a while ago and whilst I love the quality of the powders - seriously impressive for the price! I wish they would come out with another shade set with a grey tone and yellow tone, that would be right up my street ^_^
