Payday Treats | High-End Beauty Haul

There had been so many high-end beauty products I'd had my eye on that come pay day I was really to grab a few of them in the Debenhams 10% off all beauty Summer Event.

I do need to be a bit of a Debbie Downer for a moment though as I can't gloss over the awful experiences I've had with Debenhams. Out of 4 orders I placed this year they managed to mess up 3 of them and their customer service is absolutely terrible. If you're lucky they'll offer you a 'sorry' but don't expect them to correct their errors or prevent them going forwards. I've not even had a reply to my email almost a week later about them charging me for items they didn't fulfil in my order. Despite my local branch being the Manchester City Centre store, there's a pretty poor selection so I usually do click and collect. However I won't be in future. As this deal is now over, I don't want to recommend Debenhams in any way and House of Fraser currently have 10% off, I've linked the products from their site instead where possible.

So, onto more fun things: what I bought! I think I actually only spend about £30; I had vouchers, balance on my Beauty Club Card and also when you click and collect you get a £5 voucher to spend in-store.

Of course I couldn't bypass Bobbi Brown, which is the stuff I managed to order online. I picked up two classic neutral products: the Blush in Tawny (£19) and Lip Colour in Nude (£19.50). Tawny is a warm brown matte shade I think will be a lovely everyday colour on me and Nude (I think the first ever lip product called 'nude' that's actually been one on me!) is a gorgeous caramel-brown shade. The finish of the Lip Colours is very creamy, there's the slightest bit of sheen but they're very pigmented. The formula is just gorgeous and with so many colours that are right up my street in the line, I don't know how I'll resist picking up more...

I then picked up some more discounted goodies in store. Firstly was something I'd been wanting to try for forever: the YSL Rouge Volupte Shine in 07 Rose Infinite (£26). Having some vouchers meant I was able to finally pick one of these up, as I've always thought the price was just too high. It's a sheer lip colour (you know how I feel about those!) in a nude-rose with the tiniest hint of shimmer. I'm not normally into that but it really isn't visible and works with this formula. Next was the Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer (£17.50). This hadn't been on my radar at all, despite the rave reviews as I'm pretty happy with my concealer routine right now. However I swatched it out of curiosity and the gorgeous, light, fluffy texture had me sold! I also think that with it being summer it's nice to have something a bit lighter to blend in with tinted moisturisers. I chose Medium-Dark Warm, which is a pretty perfect match to my skin tone, however I would've liked something a tad lighter to highlight under my eyes but one shade down just wasn't right.

Finally, I picked up two things with the £5 off vouchers as I had two and you can only use one per transaction (and it seemed a shame to waste them...) I've wanted to try something from this line for ages so I chose the Too Faced La Creme Colour Drenched Lip Cream in Pink Chocolate (£18). Too Faced can be a bit awkward to get in the UK so I was surprised my Debenhams stocked it, as they don't have bigger brands like Bobbi Brown and MAC. The formula is super-creamy and really pigmented with a slight sheen. Pink Chocolate is (you guessed!) another nude; this time a brown-pink colour (no kidding!) My second pick was the Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturising Lip Colour Balm in Whole Lotta Honey (£17). It is, of course, a sheer lip crayon in a warm brown honey shade, which I think will be perfect for on holiday when I just want something subtle and easy-to-wear.

Did you pick up anything in the discount event?

    1. Unfortunately it's been discontinued in Boots, which is a shame but in the Arndale store at least they clearly put no effort into maintaining the stand! :( xx

  9. Shame Debenhams are such a nightmare to order from, I have been tempted in the past but kind of glad I didn't now (thanks for the heads up). I can't wait to go and swatch the new UD concealer, it sounds fab. I also need to treat myself to a YSL lipstick soon, as it's been on my wish list forever now, the shade you picked up looks gorgeous x

  22. I tried to purchase that exact YSL lipstick today from HOF and omg. The woman roller her eyes when I asked if she had it and "politely" said no. Ugh. However it seems like you have had a worst time with Debehams than I ever had.

  25. The Too Faced lipstick shade looks wonderful. I am loving those sorts of tones recently. I love pay day treats too. That stinks that they're customer service is so poor. You would think companies would understand that customers pay their bills. :)
