Milani Blush & Highlight | Review & Swatches (+ Cheap UK Shipping Info!)

Believe it or not, it's technically the British Summer Time! I recently placed a big order on Beauty Joint so couldn't resist adding a few Milani products to it to start getting that Spring glow. You can get Milani on Amazon but the prices seem to change every day and can reach as much as £10! So if there are a few US beauty bits you're after, I thoroughly recommend the site. For my order I paid £6 for shipping and tax and was not charged anything further upon my parcel's arrival, a little under 2 weeks later (I chose the longer, economy option).

The products I chose vary on the scale between blusher and highlighter. I got myself: the Illuminating Face Powder in Amber Nectar ($9.99 or £6.74), the Baked Blusher in Luminoso ($8.49 or £5.72) and the Rose Powder Blush in Romantic Rose ($9.99 or £6.74). The packaging is really pretty and surprisingly sturdy for such a low price. And of course the colours and patterns are just stunning and make these look like they could be luxury products!

Anti-clockwise from the front

First up is Amber Nectar. I'm not sure I agree with the description 'Illuminating Face Powder' as I certainly wouldn't use this all over my face. It has a definite peachy tint to it and is subtly shimmery with no large pieces of glitter. I wasn't sure how to work with this as it was a little more than a highlighter but not really a blusher. I've found it's really nice as a cheekbone highlight with a peach-toned blusher, or you can even use it as a blusher if you build on it and it gives a really understated hint of colour and illumination. I was also surprised at how well it wore throughout the day given it was quite a subtle look.

Luminoso is the one I'm sure you've heard of! This reminds me a lot of Hourglass's Dim Infusion Ambient Lighting Blush for a fraction of the cost, including the amazing texture. This is pretty much slap bang in between a highlighter and a blusher and it looks incredible on the skin. I wasn't sure the peach tone would work for me but I was taken aback my how much I fell in love with it. I love products that give a real radiance without loads of glitter and this certainly does that. I think this wore the least well, buy the end of the day it was definitely faded however most importantly it didn't look patchy.

Romantic Rose is a normal powder blusher in a muted rose pink. I was a little worried when I swatched it as it seemed as though it would apply patchily, but I had no such difficulties when I applied it. I suppose it makes sense that wiping my flat finger on the bumpy surface wouldn't work as well as swirling my blush around in it. I was really impressed at how intact this was after many hours in work and on my skin type. It's really pretty but I suppose it's a little more like a typical blusher than the other two.

I like applying all three of them with my Real Techniques Blush Brush, I swirl it around the surface of the product and sweep it lightly across my cheek and this works a treat.

I'm a person who rarely loves blushers; I tend to buy things that look pretty in the pan but I find them hard to apply or they go patchy really easily and I end up disappointed. However these purchases has really ignited a love affair with blusher. Not only do they look beautiful in the pan, but they apply like a dream and stay in place all day. If I can get a good look out of these, you definitely can. It's well worth picking up these on Amazon or even ordering from Beauty Joint just to get these. I can see a few more of these finding themselves in my basket when I place my next order...

Have you tried Milani blushers before?

  16. Amber Nectar looks really pretty but I definitely agree with you, I wouldn't use it all over my face either, although it could look nice applied lightly over a matte blush of a similar colour maybe?
