Collection Eyes Uncovered Palettes | Review & Swatches

Collection isn’t a brand that was really on my radar a few months back, however nowadays I seem to stop by their stand every time I stop by Boots and Superdrug. I don’t think any single product in their range costs more than about a fiver, which is pretty impressive. These are just £3.99 and you can buy them here. However do the new Eyes Uncovered Palettes live up to some rather similar but much more expensive nude eyeshadows…?

The packaging isn’t amazing but I’ve seen much cheaper-looking exteriors hold amazing products (Essence, I’m looking at you…) It’s cardboard, which doesn’t give me high hopes for their durability, however it’s black and looks quite sleek.

There are 3 palettes in the line, each housing 6 complimentary shades: Nude, Nude Grey and Nude Bronze. There’s really something for everyone; your standard brown neutrals, a silvery smoky feel and some warm-toned golds and bronzes. These palettes are probably more for fans of shimmer, but there are also some matte shades thrown in.

Nude is probably the least ‘exciting’ but personally I think the shades are really pretty and it’s something I wear on a day-to-day basis. The first three shades are quite similar light-coloured shimmers of various degrees of cream, white and gold. I’m going to call the darker three ‘matte’ however they do have a slightly sheen-y quality. You have two lovely pink-toned brown crease colours then the darkest brown colour: Expresso.

Grey Nude is definitely the one I gravitate towards for a smoky night look. I think the silver-y shades have a real ‘wow’ factor and then you have the two dark colours to balance things out and add that smokiness. This looks to me like a dupe of the Naked 2. I do feel however that the quality of the Makeup Revolution Iconic 2 edges this effort a little bit so if you want a Naked 2 dupe and can easily get Makeup Revolution, I’d probably go with that.

Nude Bronze is probably the most ‘me’ in terms of colours. I wasn’t going to pick this up as I already have the actual Naked 1 palette and a dupe of it! However they were in a 3 for 2 so I thought I might as well show you the entire collection. You have your gold, bronze and purple-y shades in here and I think this one can work just as well for day or night and will be perfect for summer.

I found the quality was consistent across all three palettes. They were generally really well pigmented and had a nice smooth texture. However I did get some fallout and I didn’t find these wore that well on my eyelids, which are quite oily but I always use a primer. Grey and Bronze are both dupes of the Urban Decay palettes, which I think is really cute as they’ve picked out what I think are the key shades, whereas Nude appears to be made up of original colours.

As I have the Naked 1 I did some comparison swatches with the Bronze Nude palette. The first three shades are pretty much identical in colour, though (as is to be expected really) I find the Urban Decay formula unbeatable. The last three are a tad different but still dupe-worthy in my opinion.

Overall I think these are a lovely, affordable alternative and Collection as a brand is well and truly on my radar!

  1. I have often walked past these in Boot and have thought about it but didn't think they would be that good, but after reading this I might give them a go.

  4. These look like very nice palettes! I like how you compared one to the naked palette. But I don't think I will pick them up as I have already way too many drugstore neutral palettes :) x

  5. I just bought the nude palette at the weekend for my mum to start experimenting. The lighest shades took a bit of work to build up and i ended up having to dampen my brush to get product on and after that it looked really nice. They are such a nice size though so would be good to take travelling x

  12. I normally find that drugstore eyeshadows have a very soft texture (eg sleek and wet n wild) and they can be amazingly pigmented but they don't last as well on my lids as drier shadows. Such a shame!

  14. I don't think this makeup brand is available here in Canada or I would love to get my hands on Nude Bronze. The pigmentation is amazing for such low price.

  23. I really like the look of grey nude and nude bronze. I can't believe how similar the last one is to the Naked Palette. And you can't beat their price. Plus the size makes it great for travelling. I played with these in store once and the pigmentation and texture is indeed lovely. Just wish the packaging was better, but for that price... can't complain much. :) xx

    1. Yeah they're so cute and easy to pop in your makeup bag - my main concern is the cardboard ripping, but saying that the original Naked was also cardboard packaging so definitely can't complain! xx

  24. I really like your comparisons! I cannot believe how similar nude bronze is to the Naked palette. I already have the Naked palette and still use it almost everyday so probably shouldn't buy the Collection dupe, I am really tempted by the Nude palette though, I love a light shimmery eye base!
