New from Bourjois

I'm not sure why but Bourjois usually isn't that much on my radar, however I've picked up a fair few things from them recently that I completely love! So I thought I'd do a brand focus/review/round-up type thing. This first part is all about their Colour Band and Colour Boost lines and the second part will focus on face and base products.

As regular readers will know, there are two things I can't get enough of: cream eyeshadows and sheer lip colours, so as you can imagine these new Bourjois releases were doing all of the things for me! If you spend £12 on Bourjois in Boots at the moment you get a free lip product so I took the opportunity to try the new Colour Band Eyeshadow & Liner Pencils in 02 and 03 (£5.99 each) as well as one of the new Colour Boost Lip Crayon shades in 08 (£7.99).

Let's start with the Colorband pencils; there aren't that many shades at the moment so I picked up two safe bets for me; a golden beige and a rich brown. They're both really lovely colours and aren't too glittery,  there's just a nice pearly sheen. I didn't find that Beige Minimaliste was that pigmented unfortunately, however it did give a nice, subtle wash of colour. Brun Dadaiste is a nice under eye liner or a base for a smokey neutral look. I did find that they 'set' quite quickly as the texture wasn't very creamy, making them hard to work with if you don't get blending fast. Overall they're nice and it's good to have something like this readily available on the high street, however I would pretty much always pick up the KIKO shadow sticks over these.

As for the Colorboost crayon I picked up, I've been wearing Sweet Macchiato quite a lot. It's an unusual muted berry-brown sort of colour for everyday wear. I wish there were more shades in the line to my taste, however at less than half the price of Clinique's Chubby Sticks I'm not complaining. It isn't long-lasting however that's pretty much a given with this type of product. I find that the sheen fades fairly quickly and you're left with a stain and then after a few hours it's gone. It's easy to wear and easy to re-apply so it's not a deal-breaker for me.

Overall, I definitely rate the Colorboost and will keep an eye out for some more shades. However the Colorband, I can take or leave.

Have you checked out these new Bourjois releases? What do you think of them?

  1. I was just waiting to read a review on the Bourjois Color Band as they looked so enticing in Boots/Superdrug. I actually liked some of the subtle colours but I didn't know if it was pigmented or lasted long enough...Thanks for the review and yes, I am like you..Bourjois is not a brand I look at every time but they really have amazing products...xx

  3. I am the same, I don't really have anything from Bourjois but I keep meaning to pick some bits up. Do like the look of the lip crayon as I really like the application on them. Might have to get myself to Boots soon :)

  6. I saw the Bourjois eyeshadows this week and thought they looked pretty nice. Swatching them on my hand, however, I did find them a bit dry and thought they might be hard to work with. Not too fussed about the shades either, as they are a bit samey from all the other brands. Great and honest review. x

  9. These are pretty. It makes me so sad that I can't get Bourjois anymore. I remember shopping the brand quite a bit when I lived in France many years ago (2003 - makes me feel old, lol). They had this glittery charcoal black single eye shadow that was my constant staple - I held on to it for years. Wonder if they still make it? :-)

  14. Lovely shades! I don't buy many products from Bourjois either but I do love their 1 Seconde Volume Mascara. I think i'll give their lip crayons ago next time I spot them not sure on the Colour Band pencils though as I have some similar products I need to use first. Fab review!

  16. I really like the Color Boost Lip Crayons - they are so cheap so reapplying isn't that big of a deal at all!
