I don't much like winter and neither does my skin, so I'm really happy we're now into the warmer months and I can focus on hydrated, glowing skin. Today I'm teaming up with Boots to share my top picks to breathe life back into your skin this Spring / Summer...

I like to start my skincare routine with a fresh slate in the morning but always opt for a gentle, hydrating cleanser like the Skin Proud Rise & Defend Kombucha Face Wash | £12.95. I'm sure the regular readers amongst you will know that I love a non-foaming cleanser to gently wash the grime away without stripping my slightly-on-the-drier-side skin. This is a gorgeous, refreshing, water-based jelly cleanser with niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to support your skin barrier and keep things hydrated. Plus there's kombucha in here, which has powerful antioxidant benefits for the skin. This can be used as a morning cleanse or as your second cleanse in the evening.

A mist always feels so good on my skin during the warmer months and I personally love the Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Cream Mist | £20. If you didn't already know: the cream from this line is one of my favourite moisturisers of all time, but it's a little heavy for my AM routine given we're well and truly into spring now, so that's where the mist comes in. It's a lightweight milky mist that provides lasting hydration as well as softening and moisturising the skin. You can even pop it in the fridge before use for an added cooling benefit. It's formulated with ceramides and natural moisturising factors to boost up your skin barrier and keep it happy. It's really quick and perfect for sandwiching in the hydration whilst allowing your skin to breathe.

As part of your PM routine, I recommend throwing in something like the PSA Heroine Mandelic & Licorice Superfood Glow Toner | £28 | in 3-4 times a week. I love this product because it's a really gentle take on a chemical exfoliant, so over time it's going to give you that healthy glow from within. It's formulated with niacinamide, to boost up the skin barrier and help prevent hyperpigmentation, licorice root to brighten dark spots and lots of fermented ingredients to protect the skin from free radical damage and contribute to overall skin health. Alongside this fantastic base, we have a gentle concentration of AHAs: lactic and mandelic, which are going to give the skin a surface glow and smoothness, plus lactic has hydrating benefits and mandelic is great for evening out the skin tone.

I always like to use a Vitamin C serum as part of my morning routine and one I find gentle, effective and hydrating as a one-stop-shop is the Farmacy Very Cherry Bright 15% Clean Vitamin C Serum | £60. This product contains a blend of stable and non-irritating Vitamin C derivatives and acerola cherry for that added antioxidant boost. It protects your skin from free radical damage in your environment (essential if you, like me, live in the city), it can help even out the skin tone and gives that glow we're all looking for. It's a Vitamin C + humectant serum in one step as it's also formulated with glycerin and hyaluronic acid, plus contains skin-plumping peptides so immediately gives your skin that juicy, healthy bounce.

A recent discovery that my skin is loving this spring is the Ole Henriksen Strength Trainer Peptide Boost Moisturiser | £40. I have dry skin and it definitely felt lacklustre and dull as we came out of the winter months; one of my biggest challenges for my spring / summer skincare routine is always finding a moisturiser that gives my skin what it needs without smothering it, because we all obviously prefer something a bit lighter when the weather warms up. This is that perfect balance for me! It has this wonderful melting texture so your skin can breathe but still has a softening, buttery quality to it. Plus, this moisturiser is formulated with peptides, to help retain collagen in your skin, which is what gives it its plumpness, plus they will hydrate and smooth the skin. There are also lots of soothing ingredients in here, skin barrier support and natural moisturising factors to help to keep your skin healthy and hydrated.

Obviously we can't do a post on spring / summer skin without our SPF skincare! I recommend investing in something that's easy to wear every single day and a Factor 50 sun cream that gives you the highest-possible protection and water resistance for days when you're hiking or exercising in the sun or even heading to the beach. I find the La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Aquagel SPF 30 | £34.50 | such a great 'every single day' option. It's a totally transparent gel so there's no need to worry about white cast and you can apply this quickly and easily. If you have oily skin or just prefer a lower-maintenance routine: skip the moisturiser because this broad-spectrum formula in a humectant base (meaning it contains ingredients that draw water into the skin) is a perfect one-stop-shop to hydrate and protect your skin every single day.

For when I need the highest-possible protection, it just has to be the La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMUNE 400 Invisible Fluid SPF 50+ | £18. This is a product I've used for years and I love that the brand regularly update the formula to make sure it stays one of the best on the market; for 2022 it's been reformulated to boost up the UVA protection in here, which are the rays most commonly associated with premature ageing. It's a super-light milky lotion that absorbs quickly and you can trust it to protect you whether you're walking in the heat or spending a day at the beach. It's really compact, so you can throw it in your bag to keep your protection topped up throughout the day. For me it's really the gold standard in super-high and super-durable protection for when you're out in the sun and need to stay safe (of course, it should be used alongside other measures like utilising shade, hats and so on). Plus, if you're going to put all that work into your skincare routine, you absolutely have to cement it by protecting your skin from the sun!

What skincare changes do you like to make to your routine as we head into the warmer months?
