Minimal Effort Summer Makeup

Today I thought I'd pop up a quick little post on my easy everyday summer makeup look, as I think has become an annual tradition on my blog! I just love summer makeup and this is how I wear it on a day-to-day basis. This is the kind of look I wear on holiday too, so it will stay in place in the heat. Make sure you come back next week for the evening version!

I start with my BareMinerals Matte SPF15 Foundation (Golden Nude 16) | £27. This was the answer to my summer makeup prayers! I just need a lightweight base that doesn't melt in the sun, and this really does hold up without being heavy. The coverage is light but buildable, so I go for the minimum when I'm on holiday and a little more for a day at the office. It's a fine but pigmented powder but doesn't look at all dry on my skin. If you're more on the normal-to-dry side, then maybe check out the original version. Personally, when I want a bit more glow I pair this with my MAC Strobe Cream in Goldlite | £25 | or First Aid Beauty Coconut Smoothie Primer | £20.50 (reviewed here).

Next I go in with my beloved Nars Soft Matte Complete Concealer (Ginger) | £24. This can be dabbed on over any blemishes and patted under the eyes with your fingers. It's natural-looking, quick and easy to apply and lasts really well on my skin. I'd say it gives a medium coverage, which is what I prefer in hotter weather. I then go back in with a little of the powder foundation to set under my eyes. After that I like to add something to the cheeks and my Glossier Cloud Paint in Dusk | £15 | is perfect! It's such an unusual liquid-cream blusher product and gives a sort of watercolour effect. It's not greasy and doesn't go patchy on me during the day, plus can be applied over this powder-formula foundation. This deep peachy-brown nude is perfect because it also adds a bit of a bronzed look. (Side note: it wasn't out when I put together this post but I just got the new shade Dawn - the reddy coral tone would also be perfect for this look, though definitely a little bolder!)

I then like to add a little something to the eyes. My favourite shade for this is the ColourPop Super Shock Shadow in Sunset Blvd | $5. Unfortunately this is no longer available (I have two backups in my drawer of it because I love it so much!) but I've linked to their other nude pearlescent shadows that you can get the same sort of look with. I love the pearly beige colour with a golden sheen running through it. This formula is so long-lasting and doesn't crease on me. This adds that perfect little sheeny something to a golden-bronze makeup look. For a bit of definition on the lash-line I opt for my Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Smog | £15.50. This is a creamy but long-wearing brown-bronze-gold eyeliner with a soft metallic sheen. My go-to mascara for a low-key but long-lasting look has been Glossier Lash Slick | £14. This wasn't a total win for me (you can read my review here) but in terms of not smudging or flaking and adding natural curl and separation, as well as lengthening my lashes: it does the job.

To finish off I run a bit of Glossier Boy Brow in Black | £14 | through my brows. I generally get a tint and shape before going on holiday, so my brows only need a bit of a boost. This is perfect for natural hold, a bit of tint and a nice amount of added volume. I then apply a lip colour - my favourites are from Fresh and this is the Sugar Tinted Lip Treatment in Punch* | £19.50. These are an old favourite of mine but this shade is a new addition to my collection. They're nourishing and add a glossy wash of colour to the lips, as well as containing SPF15. This is a gorgeous reddish-orange that's perfect for summer.
